Also, for a bit more money, these speakers are quite a bit better than the ones you linked to: https://www.amazon.com/ELAC-Debut-Bookshelf-Speakers-Black/dp/B07B4Q5587. They’re currently on sale as well. They are a bit bigger, and if size is a problem, there is a smaller 5.2 version.

>Please, I'm begging you, somebody tell me what to buy. I just can't decide.

Wow...

> I'm not against buying and returning from Amazon to try out a few different options.

So... do that? Problem solved. Choose your top favorites six options, write their names down and number them. Roll a dice if you're that indecisive. You just look ridiculous coming here and begging for someone, anyone to tell you what to do.

You don't know who that person is or if they know what they're talking about - they're just strangers on the internet. You're likely to get several responses to your inquiry - what do you do then?

Your approach is unnecessarily needy. But fine... here, buy these.

I’ve got a pair of Elac debuts, likely some of the best value bookshelf/stand mounts. On Amazon for $280 ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers, Black (Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4Q5587/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_uQguEbZYJ6ZHW

Though you might could find some used ones for a bit less. I lucked out big time and got them for $140 on OfferUp

Elac B6.2 are a good bass forward speaker but you're always best to add a subwoofer at some point of you can. They are $250 new on Amazon and $220 open box. I paid like $320 for my debut B6 (the predecessor to the B6.2) and I still feel like I got a good deal with how good they sound and the B6.2 is supposed to be even better (and front ported so can be placed closer to the wall if necessary) so I think it would be a really good choice.

I would recommend a pair of JBL Arena 130s, cheap and amazing sounding soundstage due to the awesome waveguide on the tweeter. As for 2.1 or 2.0, it’s weather you can accommodate a subwoofer in your room and still have happy neighbours. I live in an apartment building and have a 2.2 setup, a little insane but I think it’s okay as long as you use them in the evenings before your neighbours return.

If you want a 2.0, get something with a larger driver, 6-7 inches would suffice for some decent bass without a sub. Since you have a small room, get something with a front firing port so you can put them close to the wall.

Here one,

I haven't heard those but they are supposed to be excellent little speakers. Klipsch usually has a pretty good Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale. I've seen some really good reviews on the Elac also, but they are not powered.

I live in the exact same conditions as you and HIGHLY recommend two simple bookshelf speakers such as these amazing speakers

There are much cheaper options but I cannot stress enough how much better off you’d be and pleased I promise. Do some other research and you’ll see soundbar are basically pointless. Please do more research you’ll thank me later.

Two simple standing speaker monitors would Trump any soundbar even the extremely expensive one. And just with your situation you would have no need for a sub trust me those speakers or a cheaper kind can handle it all. Highly recommend listening to them in person if possible at like a guitar center or Sam ash or something. And yes they cater to movies/tv/gaming just beautifully there not specifically designed for music :) cheers

If 2.0 is good enough and you don't anticipate updating to a full surround setup I would go with.....

Amp - https://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/yamrs202bl/yamaha-r-s202-2-ch-x-100-watts-natural-sound-stereo-receiver/1.html

Or

Speakers - https://amazon.com/dp/B071P6KQZX

Or

https://amazon.com/dp/B07B4Q5587 if you need a little more low end and/or want to save $50. The Q150s are overall better though

I'll add these to the list as well and they would be my top choice for audio quality.... http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/products/speakers/cbm170/cbm170.html

You said you're looking to spend $200, but you would spend more if it was really worth it? Would $300 be too much?

The Ascend CBM-170 are absolutely fantastic speakers.

At $270, the Elac Debut B6.2 are another good option.

If either of those are too much, the Klipsch that you mentioned would be a good option.

That Yamaha RN 303 looks GREAT.

Personally I'd go with Elac B6.2 speakers or used B6 if you can find any.

They go on sale VERY often ($199) https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B07B4Q5587

Add a sub later: https://www.svsound.com/products/pb12-nsd-outlet-9060

Or pretty much any SVS sub you could afford.

For speakers, you can get these for $279 which have rave reviews:

Or you can get some Wharfedale:

https://www.amazon.com/Wharfedale-5025941156901-Diamond-220-Walnut/dp/B00TYN3EUC/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=wharfedale+bookshelf+speakers&qid=1579302925&sr=8-5

These are just your options on Amazon, but both have rave reviews and I'm a HUGE fan of Wharfedale stuff.

If you can find some Wharfedale Diamond 7 series on the used market, those are great speakers too. A buddy of mine has them and they're incredible.

My brother gave me these speakers a few years ago: https://www.cnet.com/products/sony-ss-mb215-speakers/ Has anybody here have any experience with these? How good/bad are they compared to let's say for instance these.

The Sony ones are big and bulky and I'm looking to replace them with something smaller as long as they sound as good or better...

Elac B6.2 vs Fluance Ai60 vs Q Acoustics 3020i

Hello, I'm planning on upgrading my cheap Logitech speakers. My budget is around $300 and these are the speakers that I've found that have been most recommended around this price point.

Here are the links:

Elac: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B4Q5587/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Fluance: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MNX7YC5/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A1WPEQCN6WJKZG&psc=1

Q Acoustics: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C4V26N1/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3EWOB9ML2A8ST&psc=1

I'm planning on using these speakers at my desk which is in a small room around 150 sq ft. I won't be blasting it, I'm only going to be using it at low to medium volume. I'm going to be using these for playing games (Rocket League and Call of Duty) and for listening to music (rap/hip hop).

I'm currently leaning towards the Fluance Ai60 as they are powered speakers. I do have an AR receiver (Denon AVR-2400) but it's massive and I don't want to fit it onto my desk. I also like the Fluance Ai60 because I've heard they have a lot of bass and I am somewhat of a bass head. However, I do understand that these speakers do have some issues like the DSP making noises.

I'm willing to use the AV receiver if it does make sense to go with Elac or Q Acoustics instead of Fluance. I also have a subwoofer from Cambridge Soundworks, but that's about all I know about that subwoofer, and I don't really want to use it.

Another option: Would I be better off getting something like the Micca RB42 and a Dayton sub? That equals about $300 as well.

I'm open to any suggestions and I'm pretty flexible. Thanks for your time!

When I built my budget setup I went Elac Debut 2.0. They have a very neutral sound and I'm really happy with them.

You could go with:

Two pairs of ELAC B6.2 for $560.00 total.

The C6.2 for $329.

That would take care of your main five speakers.

For Atmos: Four Micca R8C for $240 total.

The most reccomened subs are from SVS or Hsu. Spend a significant amount here.

If you are going with a subwoofer and your room i only 20x20 there really isn't any reason, besides aesthitics, to go with floor standing speakers.

Edit: hold off buying any speakers until black Friday. These will usually go on sale. You could also same a bit of money buying used on Amazon.

Hmm:
Topping MX3: $140
Dayton sub-1200: $150
ELAC 6.2: $350
Add speaker cables (with banana plugs to make it easy) and a subwoofer cable.

If those speakers are too big, something else then.

r/hometheater • comment
1 points • HulksInvinciblePants

Well I would never recommend a setup on the floor. That'll introduce all sorts of issues. I would say you need at least a piece a furniture to bring them to the upper limit of the height constraint or shorter stands.

$200 for TWO speakers is a very tight budget.

https://www.amazon.com/ELAC-Debut-Bookshelf-Speakers-Black/dp/B07B4Q5587

https://www.amazon.com/Infinity-R162-Black-2-way-Bookshelf/dp/B00K7CE9BW

https://www.amazon.com/JBL-Studio-530-5-25-Inch-Bookshelf/dp/B00622STI0

All the above are good budget speakers, that go on sale near your pricepoint. Currently the ELACs have a used pair pretty close.

Denon X1500H - $279

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 - $279

ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2 - $329

SVS PB-1000 - $499

Total: $1386

Less than the soundbar you're looking at and will be so much better than the soundbar it's actually laughable. Also Sony receivers are shit.

I don't think surround does as much as you think it does. Honestly a lot of movies these days hardly utilize it. Sure it's awesome but if you have to resort to mounting on the ceiling and firing at the back wall to achieve surround, it would honestly sound worse than just not having it.

Huge benefit of a system like this that I think a lot of people forget about when they buy a soundbar is the fact that it's modular. With a soundbar, once a new audio format comes out or you decide you want a better subwoofer for example, you're fucked. It's all proprietary and there's no backwards compatibility or anything like that. You now have to drop another $1400 on a shitty soundbar. With a component setup like I listed above, you can upgrade any individual piece whenever you want.

ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 and if you act quick, Amazon has them listed for less than the B5.2 model at $280. The B5.2s are $10 more. You can get them in either black or walnut. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4Q5587

Since you still have $100 get a pair of speakers stands. Buy the ones that put the tweeters at ear level.

I bought my Elac Debut 6.2 bookshelf speakers at a true 1/2 off Black Friday sale three years ago from Crutchfield. I also got the center speaker and the SUB3010 subwoofer at 1/2 off that same day.

What I don't really understand is where they get the 6" dimension from on these speaker cones. They are tiny, and nowhere near 6" that they advertise. I'm kicking myself for not getting the floor standing 6.2 Debut speakers at 1/2 off as well.

To be clear, the prices at Amazon were the exact same as Crutchfield at that time, and they truly were 50% off on that Black Friday sale.

I am using Allison Threes and Allison Eights, with an Allison Four for my center with all upgraded drivers from Kentucky back when Allison upgraded their entire speaker line in my living room. Oh, with the Klipsch R110 SW subwoofer. These Elacs are in the bedroom.

I can't speak to any of those, but for budget speakers that don't suck, I recommend:

The Elac Debut series:

B5.2

B6.2

Pioneer Andrew Jones:

SP-BS22-LR

or Klipsch Reference Series (This one might be a little controversial as many find the Klipsh tweeters a little harsh. I did too, at first. But you acclimate and come to appreciate it.)

R-41M

All of these will benefit greatly from a subwoofer. But they'll still sound good on their own. So you can save up and add that later.

Wanting to upgrade from a simple Vizio soundbar to a 5.1 setup. We primarily listen to dialogue heavy TV and bass heavy music via streaming apps. TV to music is 60/40. Based on lurking here and elsewhere, here's my first attempt at making a 5.1 system. Any advice would be appreciated:

Receiver: Denon AVR-S750H Receiver, 7.2 Channel (165W x 7) - 4K Ultra HD Home Theater (2019) | Music Streaming | New - eARC, 3D Dolby Surround Sound (Atmos, DTS/Virtual Height Elevation) | Alexa + HEOS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQ87Y6M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mxrCFbH1Y89QC

Front speakers: ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 Bookshelf Speakers, Black (Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4Q5587/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iyrCFbNSRJK6W

Center: ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2 Center Speaker, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4VCT99/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6yrCFbEA50T78

Rear speakers: Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Andrew Jones Home Audio Bookshelf Loudspeakers (Set of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NCD2LG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2ArCFb544J3JG

Sub: SVS PB-1000 Subwoofer (Black Ash) – 10-inch Driver, 300-Watts RMS, Ported Cabinet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K88UMPW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_KwrCFbND5QZVE

Comes to around $2000 which is on the top end of what I wanted to spend for the whole system. I would love white front speakers but wouldn't sacrifice sound quality for it.

Again. Please let me know if you have any thoughts about any component.

I'd recomend the Fluance RT82 - $300 ,83,84, or 85 ($500) are all the same turntable except for the cartridges and platters. They all have a sensor that measures and adjusts the speed 500 time per second resulting in a very stable and accurate speed. (one of the most important jobs of a turntable). This makes the WOW & Flutter lower (better) than most other modern turntables, including the Debut Carbon. They also come with a very handy auto stop feature.

You'll need a phono preamp with these so I'd get the Schiit Mani - $129. It's the best for the price. The Pro-ject Phono Box MM ($79) is good, as is the U-Turn Pluto ($99).

For speakers passive speakers and an amp would be best and provide for a more flexible upgrade path. Maybe the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 - $280 with the SMSL SA300 - $140 (also has bluetooth).

Fluance RT82 - $300 + Schiit Mani - $130 + ELAC B6.2 - $280 + SMSL SA300 - $140 = $850

Save $50 bucks by opting for the Pro-Ject Phono Box instead of the Mani and stay within your budget.

If you wanted to stick with powered speakers I hear really great thing about the Vanatoo Transparent Zero Powered Speakers - $360. These also have BT and a really good DAC in case you wanted to hookup a computer or TV.

RT82 + Schiit Mani + Vanatoo's = $800

We tend to recommend separate components as that allows for upgradeability in the future. Those edifier speakers are fine. Problem is if you want something better in the future you have to start from scratch. Those do have a subwoofer out so you can always add that in the future if needed.

SMSL SA300 $140

Fosi DA2120A $120

Either of those with:

Micca MB42X $89 a pair

Would probably sound better than the Edifier.

Then In the future you can still upgrade your speakers and reuse the amps.

Micca RB42 $150 a pair. I own these and honestly for music, even EDM, I feel like they have enough bass. Obviously my SVS PB12-NSD fills in the sound much better but on their own they are good enough

ELAC B6.2 $280 a pair. These are obviously very capable speakers.

In other words, get the Edifier if you wish, just understand in the future you might get the itch to upgrade, and you'll be starting from scratch

First Your left and right the ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 these have a front port so you can place them closer to the wall

The center ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2

Your surrounds ELAC Debut 2.0 b5.2

The Atmos speaker ELAC Atmos Modules

The Subwoofer SVS PB100 a better subwoofer for the same price but won’t be in stock soon SVS PB12-NSD

I think it costs 1430$ which under your budget. I could build a more expensive system but I think this is very good setup.
