USB C to DisplayPort Cable for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075V27G2R?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I do not notice any input lag at all. I did do some googling when I first got the monitor to change the settings on the monitor to what others suggested but I can't find exactly what forum that lead me to.

Type C to DisplayPort cable, this would probably work.

I'm not sure. I haven't hooked it up to an external monitor yet.
If I had the choice I would get a thunderbolt 3 to displayport cable. Worked on other laptops I've used for gsync displays.

I'm running this monitor with a MacBook via USB-C. I picked up this cable on Amazon to connect from USB-C to Displayport. I also had to use SwitchResX to select the higher resolution. My machine can only drive this resolution at 75hz, but it is working great.

Thank you for the suggestion.
I’m afraid it seems it’s the M1 that’s causing the issue, regardless of the USB-C to DisplayPort cable.
I was looking the UNI cables here: https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-uni-Thunderbolt-Compatible-More-Gray/dp/B075V27G2R
They work perfectly on any other Mac, but the M1 always goes to YPbPr regardless of the cable and type of connection.
I appreciate your suggestion though and this cable seems to be a good recommendation to get once they fix the issue. Hopefully in a next update.

Thanks for this response. I’m also working off of a 16” MBP (side note: absolutely the best computer I’ve ever owned) I’m looking at the Acer VG280K at Costco, I’ve noticed on a few of these lower end UHD displays that HDMI 1 only supports 4k30 and HDMI 2 supports 4k60 while the DP is 4k60...I have no idea if that’s the case with this one, but I want to make sure I’m going into this and not going to regret it.
In short - What dongle got you the best results? Amazon has these highly reviewed UNI brand adapters, have you tried those?

With something like this
Unless you need the power and data transmitting (which I am not sure the USB-C ports on the GPU can do) getting USB-C to some kind of display cable is your only option.
1 points • R3DV
No. Check the description and reviews of whichever cable you are going to purchase, but generally speaking, a usb-c to DisplayPort cable capable of 4K@60 can also do 1440p at 144hz.
For example, this cable linked below states that it is capable of 1440p@165hz.

Had the same issue. If you are pushing 4K certain docks might not work doing 4K at 60hz. I had to just get a DisplayPort to usb-c cable and go directly from the monitor to the computer. Kinda stupid but I’m not aware of another way to do it outside of trying a different docking station.

I have a laptop that only has 1 HDMI port but I run two monitors with a DP to USB-C cable. I'm fairly certain the UBS-C port has to be a thunderbolt 3 model but don't quote me on that. I don't know if that's what you were thinking of for an adapter, but that's what I use. No complaints here. Really good cable (in my experience) for ~$14.

I'm not sure if store links are allowed here but this is the one I bought. It's this company called "uni accessories." I'm not sure how reputable this company is, as they're certainly new to me. Do you think this could be the cause, and if so, is there a recommended brand?
Perhaps it's worth noting that I previously had another issue with this new machine and cable, which is that whenever I woke the laptop from sleep while in clamshell/connected to monitor, audio would not be transmitted over DisplayPort. I'd have to completely restart the machine in order to get audio back. This was fixed with 10.15.6, though.

DP to thunderbolt for me. Didn't test thunderbolt to thunderbolt. This is the one I used. The thunderbolt port has a displayport built in. It's just terminated with a USB C. So for GSYNC to work you just have to hope that the manufacturer wired the thunderbolt directly to the GPU. If they did, you're gold. If not, GSYNC won't work

The left USB-C port is connected to the Nvidia GPU. The right one isn't connected to any GPU.
You need to get a USB-C to Display port cable, then connect it to the left USB-C port.
Here is an example of one:

I’ve built something similar using the LG 38GL950.
You can get USB-C to DisplayPort cables as a fair price. It’s not quite as nice as a one cable solution, but there are many more options without USB-C than with. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075V27G2R
What I do is with this, along with a USB cable, I run things to a pair of passive switches: one for USB3, one DisplayPort. That lets me switch between the Gaming PC and my Mac. A USB hub behind the switch lets me hook up keyboard, mouse, and USB speakers.
But if you really want high refresh and Thunderbolt, look for the upcoming 38WN95C this year. It’s 38 inches, 144Hz and has a USB-C port.

Hey there bud, just to let you know you should be able to run 120hz 34'' Alienware Monitor fine. So long as you have the proper cable.
I myself have 34'' AW3418DW and I'm able to run my monitor at 120hz refresh rate no problem. Just make sure you use USB C to Displayport. That is the cable that I am currently using and have had zero issues.

Is there not a HDMI or Display Port on the laptop? You could just use that to connect the monitor to the laptop. You could also use a Thunderbolt 3 to DP cable like this one. It’s not a dock but it might work
1 points • flooftastik
Simplest solution would be a USB-C to DP cable, something like this one: https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-uni-Thunderbolt-Compatible-More-Gray/dp/B075V27G2R S2721DGF does up to 165 Hz over DisplayPort, but only up to 144 Hz over HDMI.

What port/cable are you using to connect?
Try this one: https://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-uni-Thunderbolt-Compatible-More-Gray/dp/B075V27G2R/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=thunderbolt+3+to+displayport&qid=1586704407&sprefix=thunderbolt+3+to+d&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyWU1JM0dXVFYxSTA2JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDMxNDQ0VFJaVE80V1Q1TURBJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA5NjkxMzUyNjU3VVI2NlFUTU9IJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
And make sure you read the reviews, this seems to solve that problem with macbooks, if you are not getting 120hz either this cable might solve it as well.

For your 1440p monitor, you can use any USB-C to HDMI/DP adapter, for ur 4k tv you are going to want to get a USB-C adapter with Thunderbolt 3 so you can archive 60hz (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075V27G2R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) for example or you can get a thunderbolt 3 dock

[sb2] odd beeping/music/alarm when connected to external display
I have several Dell U2412M displays which include a usb hub and accept displayport and DVI and are 1920x1200. I've used these displays with several desktops and laptops (only one display connected to a given computer, but often with 2 computers connected to a single display). generally I use both a usb cable (usb-b connector) and one of the display cables. I have mouse and keyboard connected to the display via usb. generally the displays are rotated to profile (ie not landscape)
i'm trying to connect my surface book 2 to the Dell display (currently in profile). i'm using a usb-c-to-displayport cable and a usb-a-to-usb-b cable. when I connect either cable, the sb2 goes mildly bonkers. the mouse jumps around whenever I try to click a button (it's fine over non-buttons) and it makes an alarm-like sound (not exactly music, but more than a beep). I've tried it both with and without the sb2 connected to the charger. I've tried rebooting (didn't help) but I know very little about windows so haven't tried anything else. Adjusting the display setting is hard as the mouse doesn't work (only thing I've managed to change via keyboard is the resolution, which didn't help). I've used this exact configuration with my matebook x
any ideas what could be going on ?
here's the cable:

Actually here is the dock I bought. I have a 1080 144hz monitor and this is the only one I found that supported those higher refresh rates.

Btw. I love the Mac, I just hate how restrictive it’s been for me. My Xbox elite series 2 controller won’t work, but a regular specific model does. I had to put a razer naga mouse for my mmo playing.
Just letting you know my frustrations so hopefully you dont go through the same thing 😁

Does your monitor have displayports input? I would recommend trying that instead of hdmi. This is worth trying at this point:

This is what i found. The manufacturer answered in the product Q and A that it will support 144p 144hz. Hope this helps. As far as the audio, you can use USB shared hub and have the output for the audio that way or it will take the 3.5 jack. So if you have a dac that supports the type of audio i would recommend the USB. I also added a cable for the Mac.

I just received my panel today and installed everything. From what I can gather, there don't appear to be any issues with the hardware (no signs of dead pixels or leakage). However, I'm struggling a bit. Can you help clarify a few things for me?
My Setup
- MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, 2019), Catalina 10.15.7
- LG 27GN950-B
- DisplayPort to USB-C Cable 1 and Cable 2
Results
- Resolution: 'Default for Display' (looks like 1920x1080)
- HDR: Enabled
- Refresh Rate: 60hz
I have a few issues. The main one is that, regardless of which cable I try, I cannot get it beyond 60hz. I've changed the monitor's setting to be DisplayPort 1.4 instead of 1.4 (DSC), but no help. I've done the 'option'+ 'scaled' and selected 'low resolution, but the checkbox doesn't allow me to select any other refresh rate than '60hz'. Is the issue the cable, or the MacBook Pro? Note I tried the same thing with a MacBook Air 2018 and got the same results, but HDR wont work on that. I'm waiting for my M1 Mac Mini to arrive in a few weeks, so hopefully that will work...
One last question: If I force the resolution to be the native resolution, then the Mac UI looks really small. It's usable, but just tiny and hard to read. What settings do you use?

But my laptop has no Display Port :( Is there any other way?
Do you think something like this would work?
1 points • JayGrifff
It’s just the way DisplayPort is designed... it has all the “wiring” needed to drive a HDMI display, but a HDMI port doesn’t have all the “wiring” needed to drive a DisplayPort.
You need a ACTIVE HDMI to DisplayPort adapter. I do not recommend this approach, it is highly volatile and the adapters are usually trash. Example of a adapter is below.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G796JF8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_OCXZFbKEPMCZ5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
You should see if your device supports USB-C display output and get a USBC to DisplayPort cable. An example of this cable is below. This is the recommended configuration.
