The last couple gaming dell monitors I got had nice flat stands. I've recently just moved to monitor arms, SOOO much free desk space now

Dell has a 27in, 1440p, 144hz, 1ms response, g-sync monitor for $400. It’s a TN panel and not and IPS, but I still love mine

Here’s a link to it

EDIT* Now that I look at it, it looks like prices have gone up, I bought mine on Black Friday a few years ago for about $430

Looking for a new monitor

So I currently have this... Dell Gaming S2716DGR 27.0" Screen LED-Lit Monitor with G-SYNC https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0149QBOF0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_egHSFb869G34E?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

It's been a good monitor since 2016, but it has the usual flaws of these types of panels, and I'm looking to make it my second monitor. Any thoughts on a good replacement for this monitor?..... It's also had a burn in issue for a while that's been annoying the crap out me lol.

> I do not plan on upgrading graphics for another 2 years

Based on this, I would maybe say grab a 1080p monitor so that you can get max frames...

> in the 27-32” range

Based on this, you would want 1440p at the least for 27” and probably 4K for 32” because 1080 looks terrible on anything bigger than 25”.

I have a 1440 and 1080 27” monitors and I can attest to this...

But the issue you’ll have is sacrificing some frames for higher resolution... and you’ll definitely drop more within the next couple years... 1070 is a great card still and can really handle its own... you should have absolutely no problems stretching this card 2 more years at 1440, but you will need to adjust settings in due time.

That being said, this Dell monitor is generally regarded as a fantastic 1440 144hz monitor. It regularly goes on sale for $275-$325. This would be my recommendation.

I'm not OP, but i have a very similar setup. This is my main one:

I like the size immensely. I think anything bigger would be... a lot for me. Depends what you do with your system as well. Gaming? You'd want to reduce eye travel time across the screen but also have the best definition you can get, along with super low response time. Photoshop? Bigger IPS screen you can find the better. Also distance from the monitor is a factor as well. It's a lot to grapple. Final decision is entirely up to you.

Not sure what your budget is, but in terms of features and specs I’ve always been a fan of this dell series. Got an older revision on Black Friday two years ago for $350 and probably won’t upgrade until the 4k tech catches up

I highly recommend NZXT CAM for monitoring temps and storage, it’s super nice!

For your monitor i recommend this baby

IPS panels have better color accuracy and viewing angles, but they will be more costly.

I'm personally running this monitor alongside two 21.5'' 1080p 60Hz panels (one IPS, one not). While the IPS panel is better with color than others, the others aren't terrible either (though they needed a bit of manual adjustment when first starting out).

Oh wow this is my time to shine!

I have a 1440p, 144HZ monitor with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 2070, and I've found that it's great. I play CS:GO, GTA V, Rainbow Six: Siege, and COD:MW and have no issues getting completely steady frames over 100 fps.

I usually don't max settings when I play games, I try to find that middle ground but for all the games I play, having the settings on high is usually no problem.

And just in case you're interested in the monitor I have, it's this one, and I love it

So does this support Full GSYNC over DisplayPort or what?

Also, I currently have this Dell monitor. It is a pretty good monitor, but it does have a little bit of ghosting. And from what I’m seeing, the colors on the LG are much better?

I’ve been looking at this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0149QBOF0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_TsDeROqtjOMN3 Is it the same? The name is slightly different.

To clarify, I play specific games (RDR2, assassin's creed, forza horizon 4) at 4k with a controller, but using a 4ktv as a second monitor. For everything else I play mouse and keyboard on a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor.

I have this monitor , but I bought it from best buy during black friday sale for 350. I love this monitor. I don't plan to upgrade monitors until 4k 144hz with gsync are affordable and more importantly, GPU power catches up to that point.

If you can sacrifice color accuracy in favor of more frames, I have this and it does really well, and even though its a TN panel it looks just as good as the IPS displays I have next to it.

I got it for $320 on black friday at bestbuyJust get an OLED second monitor if you are doing color accurate work and just use the dell for gaming and productivity

I second this. 2k at 144hz is the best monitor configuration IMO. And for under 500 it's a steal. I have a super comparable model (Dell Gaming S2716DGR) and absolutely love it.

So this ones more on the pricey side; but hey you get what you pay for lol. Its a TN panel with vibrant IPS like color, 1ms response time and impressive viewing angles. There’s a 2019 version out as well, but it’s essentially the same panel and I believe its a little pricier.

My recommendation to you is to get one 1440p panel, and one 1080p or lower panel so you aren’t throwing away frames in games trying to render two 1440p desktops.

Check out the Panel here.

Definitely way overkill and probably overpriced for amazon. I got mine during Black Friday so it was only $250. Probably the best monitor I’ve ever owned. Granted I run a 1070ti gsync works pretty flawlessly in the game

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0149QBOF0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_b14-Eb5SXSRNY this looks pretty good for a monitor. 27" diagonal. they have used/like new ones for $300-$400. might be worth looking into it more though. edit: 32" is probably the "largest" monitor. just be careful though, some of the "gaming" monitors have high refresh rates, but poor color reproduction. its generally worth it to spend an extra $200 to get one thats known for good color end edit

just check VR stuff, if it works now, good! you can always upgrade later.

bestbuy is notoriously out of stock of everything. its worth looking though.

as for future upgrades, RAM, CPU, and GPU have potential to be upgrades easily. AMD is likely going to keep the same socket for a while longer and your GPU can simply be swapped out. as for RAM, just plop two more sticks in. 16GB should be fine though.

Yes, yes, yes, no. lmao

Really depends if you got the cash. I'd recommend going to a local store that has them (best buy, Micro Center, etc). *Make sure they have them set to the right Hz speed too lol, Ive seen 240 hz monitors set to 60 for some reason??** But all you have to do is open a window (make it say 50% of the screen) and drag it around the monitor. You will see how much smoother the window moves at 144 vs 60. This same smoothness will then apply to all other applications. Obviously for gaming you would still need to get to 144 fps to fully enjoy it, but even if you only get 100 its still better (then g-sync or free-sync will take over) My recommendation for the best value monitor is the Dell Gaming S2716DGR 27.0" G-SYNC Really good color, solid stand, 1MS, pretty much all us gamer's ever asked for.

I have a 1080TI, i7-7700K, with a 1440p monitor and the game runs smooth on Ultra for me in most places. I get lag around big cities like NYC and Chicago, but I think that's partly due to the airliners and AI causing lag rather than the building graphics alone.

I don't really know how a 2070 compares to a 1080ti though.

I've had this monitor for a couple years and it's been pretty great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0149QBOF0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would say it isnt worth the extra due to how little else you get over the LG. More importantly its sucessor, the gn850 which only lacks some useless usb ports on the back is 450 dollars https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MF9tt6/lg-27gn850-b-270-2560x1440-144-hz-monitor-27gn850-b

As for the others, this is some serious price gouging Dell S2716DGR 27 - $530 ,it was 320 dollars!!!

Anyway i own the gl850 and contrast is bad but not too horrible even on dark games, the other IPS monitors arent much better

I would go with 1440p @ 144Hz.

Pasted a link to a 27" Dell G-Sync monitor I'm using and I'm happy with it. Might be able to find it a little cheaper, but it is $469 on Amazon. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Gaming-S2716DGR-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B0149QBOF0&ved=2ahUKEwj6ifztmoLpAhWTGc0KHXmuBc8QFjAAegQICRAB&usg=AOvVaw102Hp7OfULFU80dAhkY5oT

So if you'r spending the money to upgrade to 144hz monitor, especially at 1440p, you're bound to run into games and settings you'd like to run that you won't be able to consistently get 200 fps on (you shoot for 200 consistent fps if you want 144 at all times because you're bound to hit graphics-intensive dips in that FPS).

Which means that either FreeSync (AMD) or GSync (NVidia) is probably a necessity for you. That will allow you to dip under 144fps temporarily without dropping your performance all the way to 72/60fps.

FreeSync monitors are much cheaper, but performance is much less reliable. GSync is more expensive because, being slightly incorrect to save on technical jargon, NVidia maintains full control and maintains the GSync functionality in monitors. So a monitor builder has to "Purchase the GSync" featuer direclty form NVidia. That type of proprietary control makes GSync much more expensive, but also more reliable.

I started with 1, and have worked my way up to 3 of these. I really like them:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0149QBOF0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes, it's pretty expensive, but 18-24 months ago when I bought these, it was the cheapest 27", 144hz, 1440p, 1ms response time monitor with GSync by about 200 dollars. Those were the 5 features I wanted in monitor.

I think that 430 + shipping is a bit much.

One's here for 330.

The LG 27GL83A-B is currently 379.99 which is an IPS 1440p/144hz/10 bit panel.

You're overpaying like crazy just for an IPS G-Sync feature.

27" Dell 144 Hz 1440p 1ms Monitor This one is pretty much the same thing just without IPS. I own pretty much the exact same Dell and it's been nothing but pure awesomeness. Great for movies too.
