Our new line of Crucial Ballistix 3600 Speed is ~$93 on Amazon right now for a 16GB kit, White, Red, Black, and RGB options. We use our Micron tuned die in them, essentially E-die but better.

These are the ones I've chosen so far, open to feedback.

If you want to just plug and play XMP then this kit is pretty quality.
If you want to overclock, then the same kit at 3000MHz CL15 is great value and very easy to OC for high frequencies. It will easily hit 3733 or 3800 with very little effort.

Crucial Ballistix same specs are just $5 more just for reference.

Depends whether or not you're planning to upgrade to a Ryzen 4000 CPU or not.
If you are planning to upgrade, then use what you have right now (or if currently building a rig, go with cheap RAM like the one you're looking at). Ryzen 4000 would probably have different sweet spots for their memory, so no sense upgrading RAM speed now when in a couple of months AMD will tell us what speed to match it with.

If you are not planning to upgrade, then I suggest to get at least 3600 mhz/cl16 RAM. This is only $26 more than what you are planning to buy, and allows you to run the Infinity Fabric at the sweet spot. Technically 3733/cl 17 is better, but it's up to silicon lottery if your CPU will reach above 1800 FCLK and thus be able to run at 1:1 mode with RAM speeds greater than 3600 mhz.
The alternative is 3200 mhz/CL14 RAM if you can find it cheaper than 3600/CL16, as one can easily run a stick rated for the former for speed/timings as the latter. Use the Ryzen RAM calculator, and should be doable for even the most inexperienced overclockers.

tighter trcdrd and perhaps trfc timings. In general higher overclocking potential which general user won't be venturing into. we are talking about 5 Ghz+. Alternatively get the 3600 Mhz variant of new Ballistix which recently went as low as $70 on Amazon. Currently, $75 https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-Desktop-Gaming-BL2K8G36C16U4B/dp/B083V93HJG

If your willing to spend 15$ extra get this as the clock speed is faster than the gskill one you were looking at

You should get 16GB Micron E-die and overclock it to 3600mhz cl16 with Ryzen Dram calculator.
Remember DDR5 isn't going to be compatible with your 3700X. So unless you're completely replacing your system, it makes sense to just spend $70 on ram and continue to run with your mobo and CPU.
3700X with 3600mhz cl16 DDR4 will be fine for a long time.

I stand corrected, it does look like it goes beyond the 3466 MHz and if makes you wonder why ifs listed in the title. The ram I was looking at is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083V93HJG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabt1_gI1SFb3B5PAYJ and I do not see it in the QVL document. Does this mean it’s incompatible, or will manual tuning just need to be made for it to work?

Why is there so many ssd's? Just use the 256gb you have for boot, and get a 1tb nvme.
PSU doesn't look too reliable I would recommend getting a seasonic or corsair branded one

The drive will run at full speed. That message just means that one of your SSD ports won’t work.
An easy way to save $ is to get a normal m.2 SSD. No real difference for games, still no wires.
Not sure where you live but here is 3600 memory for less:

Search your ram model type on Reddit and see if you can find other people with similar memory and try to overclock.
Ideally you should shoot for 3600 CL16. What’s your budget? This ram is pretty good for price/performance below. They also sell 16gbx2. Search online for it. Check out pcpart picker as well. Tons of options.

AMD's site just lists the highest supported JEDEC spec of DDR4 it can default to and use without being considered overclocking. The type of kits it refers to are terrible with CL22 timings by default. Avoid these kits of RAM.
If you aren't going in and willing to tune the RAM manually, just get any 3200 MT/s CL16 kit or 3600 MT/s CL 18 (whichever's cheaper), if you are willing to tune it manually, a kit of RAM with either samsung B-die like this or Micron E-die and tune them to 3800 MT/s CL15-16 range and keep the tRFC low, sub 350 is the goal if memory serves correctly, and a 1/1 IF ratio.

Mixing brands of RAM as long as they have the same specs?
I'm sure this has been asked before...but I currently have this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083V93HJG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
And was wondering if I could add these https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232880?Description=g.skill%20ripjaws%20v%20series%2016gb
Would this work?

BIG OLE RAM QUESTION
I have a dumb question about RAM since it's been forever since I've done a build and I simply can't remember....
When I'm looking at a mobo (e.g. this one from micro center) I see that it supports "Memory Types" up to DDR4-2667, but then it supports "memory speeds" up to 41333 when overclocked.
So my question is, if I were to buy a ram set like this one how does this function if I pair it with the motherboard.
My ASSUMPTION is that if you put it in and change nothing, it'll just run at the 2667 rate that's listed by the board, but if I go into the BIOS and swap it up to a 3600 OC it'll run at 3600.
Is this correct? If so - what are the implications if any of OCing ram? If not - are there boards out there that naively take 3600 without OC?

Unless you are hardcore overclocking, it is a total waste: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/eyoff9/please_stop_mindlessly_advising_people_to_buy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

It's all good, I'd just consider getting this RAM instead: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-Desktop-Gaming-BL2K8G36C16U4B/dp/B083V93HJG/ref=pd_ybh_a_70?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=DQPXZ0CPBVQZZNR2PXN9
It's RGB-less but it's 3600MHz CL16

When you say it fits, do you mean size? Color? There is a newer version of the Crucial Ballistix RAM that has the same overclockable e-die, but has a taller (39mm) black heat spreader: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-Desktop-Gaming-BL2K8G32C16U4B/dp/B083TRRT16/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=crucial%2Bballistix%2B3200&qid=1585073961&s=electronics&sr=1-4&th=1. This RAM should easily overclock to 3600cl16 or better (mine is running at 3800cl16).
This RAM also has a kit that's sold at 3600cl16 as the stock speed and is still fairly cheap: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-Desktop-Gaming-BL2K8G32C16U4B/dp/B083V93HJG/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=crucial%2Bballistix%2B3200&qid=1585073961&s=electronics&sr=1-4&th=1

Yay, its always exciting hearing people get into the pc world. As of ur parts, they can use some help.
For the cpu you SHOULD go with Ryzen 7 2700X over the one you have rn because its actually cheaper now at only $217 (freaking steal in my opinion) and it has 2 more cores, 4 more threads and has higher clocks, there’s no reason not to go with that.
For ram, although I noticed the 3600mhz speed, its CL18 which means it has slow timings. Again go with this Crucial kit its also 3600mhs but is CL16 which is going to give you a nice little performance bump for cheaper.
For gpu, you can go with this zotac RTX 2060 which is faster, newer and haa RTX so you could enjoy all that plus faster adobe app rendering of u use gpu acceleration.
I just realized that you live in Canada and the prices are probably in Canadian dollars so just compare the prices of the parts I suggested to your current ones and see if they fit in your budget. I’d say go through them in the order of CPU, GPU then ram if you can only change some, and for ram you could also do 3200mhz CL16 instead if those are cheaper, the performance wouldn’t be different from 3600 CL18
Good luck with the build and hmu with any questions

I'm looking at these two: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-Desktop-Gaming-BL2K8G36C16U4B/dp/B083V93HJG (which I think is below 40mm) and https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232858 (which I think is 41mm).
I'm basically looking at 16 GB 3600mhz CL16s. But one concern would be "futureproofing" as I kind of don't want to always have to get "low profile" RAMs in the future. Someone shared a reference for a 42mm and I think that's about as much as I'm willing to tolerate, but I appreciate your reference too!

Crucial Ballistix 2x8gb 3600mhz cl16 ram.
The Gigabyte B450i Aorus doesn't seem to have it on the list. The MSI board, according to Pangoly, has tested lower speed versions of the Ballistix ram but not 3600mhz. So about the same performance?
I'll have to look at the two boards again later to decide which features are better.

This is basically my build. It is actually kind of scary how close it is. I'm still waiting for some parts (I live in Guatemala and it is taking a long ass time for everything to get here). I'm not sure about the SSD given it is QLC. I bought this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T489LP3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1SNQ8NRBE1IGO&th=1
It is TLC, has DRAM and should have much longer longevity and better performance even if the official warranty is only 3 years.
For the fans I'm reusing the Arctic P14 value pack, while the fans are great the build quality is kind of bad. I've had multiple cracked screw holes (which haven't prevented me from installing the fans), but it seems like the plastic used on the frame is kind of brittle. I'm thinking of swapping them, but I'm not sure for what. For the memory you could spend $8 more to get 3600mhz memory, but you'd loose RGB.
The only thing I haven't ordered is the cooler because I'm scared it won't fit, and I don't have any way to return it if that happens. So I'd greatly appreciate if you could tell me if it works. As of now I'll use my Scythe Big Shuriken 3, I'm just waiting for my PSU, cable extensions (black and white to match the rest), and SSD.

Okay so I decided to go with this motherboard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089FT8JLW?tag=gpcb-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1
One last thing for the RAM would u suggest 32GB of RAM or 16GB of RAM. I ask this because I know for a while a lot of people have been saying 16GB is the sweet spot but I haven't kept up with games as of lately. **Also, just re-read your message of "2x8 gb of RAM" but I will stil include this message just for added clarity.
