How to take care of your minimal wardrobe
Hi! I've seen a lot of posts about the different variations of a minimal wardrobe people have, but not how to take care of those clothes. Since we all have less clothes in our closets I wanted to share how I take proper care of mine.
- Do less laundry. My mum taught me to wash clothes after only wearing them once, however this is not right. You can easily wear a shirt at least twice and pants more often.
- Wash your clothes inside out. Washing your clothes actually damages them. By washing them inside out the fuzz will be inside and not visible.
- Air dry your stuff. Putting your clothes in the dryer only hurts them more, so if you can air dry them. Personally I only use the dryer for bedsheets and towels.
- Get yourself a fabric shaver. Since I discovered this I'm in love with it. Not only does this little hand shaver get all the fuzz of your clothes it also makes them more soft and you also get the look of that 'just bought' clothing. You can get one for cheap, I got mine for 15 euro. Just bear in mind that you can't use this on all fabrics, I would not use it on lace or knits since it will cause holes in the fabric then. I suggest you only use it on 'normal' fabrics.
I hope this helps bring back life into your wardrobe :)

If the problem is just pilling from wear you can buy a fabric shaver like this one, it’s the best! Especially if you actually love the pants. 😊

I asked a Lulu educator and she said this is the one they use at her store for de-pilling!
Nulu is a delicate fabric that is more prone to pilling so investing in this when you own Nulu products is a good idea :)

Hmm, never had a problem with mine. I think you have a bad shaver. I have this, cheap and performs well Conair Fabric Defuzzer - Shaver; Battery Operated; White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008I25368/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_tPIBFb17C9KHJ

Conair makes an electronic version, it has three settings so this shouldn’t happen. However I was heavy handed on a lighter weight sweater and cut a tiny hole in it. So just be mindful of how much pressure you apply. I love mine, 10 out of 10 would recommend.

If its those little gray balls that get stuck to it, try using a razor and scraping them off. They also make a little machine for it if using a razor isn't helping

Have had my aligns for 4 years. I delicate wash/hang dry them and use this fabric defuzzer every year or so to keep them in good shape. Also works wonders on sweaters. Push LIGHTLY or else you can get a hole in them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008I25368/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_pAivEbDNJRR86
Hope this helps!!

The best option to manage piling is using a fabric shaver like this. Sticky rolls would do more damage by pulling more of the surrounding thread out than cutting it off next to the surface.
The only way to prevent piling is to not use the fabric at all, which isn't much of an option.

I use this one in specific...
Makes it really easy, Even before my first washing I had a ton of pilling...I really like them though. Plus I use that little shaver for everything else too...

Literally called a pilling shaver. I feel like read someone on this sub saying that once they shaved their uft, the pilling didn't come back.
Basically its one of these:

I’ve used this fabric shaver on my aligns before and it removed the pilling without damage

It’s called pilling. Here’s a good guide for preventing it from happening: https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/institute/a19518/tips-preventing-clothing-pilling/
It can be addressed with a fabric shaver: Conair White Battery Operated Fabric Defuzzer-Shaver, Regular https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008I25368/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_FGFTFb5C43S68?psc=1

As someone who is EXTREMELY sensitive to smells, and often gets headaches from things like perfume, lotion, candles, etc., I have two perfumes that are the BEST and don't give me a headache at all. I'm not a fan of floral scents, so these are definitely more musky/woodsy: Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt and the Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess
The best thing I've purchased during quarantine are Ugg Quincy Boots (they are SO CUTE rolled down, and I love the laces) and an air fryer. I hate cooking, don't cook, and yet still love the air fryer?? Doesn't make sense but just trust me.
I recently picked up the Too Faced Natural Matte eye palette during the Sephora sale and it's really incredible. I use it when I want to look somewhat put together for Zoom meetings but I'm just not willing to do the "full face" of makeup I used to do pre-Covid.
Amazing practical gifts: This seemingly unimpressive drying rack from Amazon. But somehow it's SO USEFUL for drying, rinsing vegetables, cooling cookies... you name it, it does it https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H8L85FG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also, the Conair fabric shaver. This thing revitalized my cheap Old Navy joggers that looked awful and now they look brand new. I've also used on expensive Lululemon and nothing is damaged and I'm obsessed. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008I25368/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Also a question: Who has a silk pillowcase and has an opinion you'd like to share? Trying to decide if it's worth it for a group gift with women in my family.

It's probably pilling, and is something that happens to all elastic materials over time. Here's a basic preventative post I was able to pull up.
For removing them, you could try a depiller or attempt to do it with a razor blade.

Might a recommend a product that will fix your problem? It works like a charm. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008I25368/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
