If you want to go off Amazon, this one would be better on the stabs where plastic touches plastic - https://www.amazon.com/Krytox-Grease-Pure-PFPE-PTFE/dp/B00MWLDALQ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1VYZLCXWQRGPO&dchild=1&keywords=krytox+205g0&qid=1597789844&s=industrial&sprefix=krytox%2Cindustrial%2C228&sr=1-1
Use a brush, and do it sparingly. It will be thick. Normally people use 205 grade 0, the Amazon link above is 205 grade 2. The grade is basically viscosity.

This is better. You get .5 oz for $20. That would last awhile.

I'm not sure because I can't see the bottle or know where you got it from. But for example, this bottle of Krytox 205 on amazon is 205g2. It is a bit thicker than 205g0. 205g0 is best described as a mixture of 205g2 and Krytox 105 oil.

Isn’t 205g2 what you can get on amazon?

just wondering where you bought the lube. on Amazon, the one I'm looking is grade 2 not grade 0. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MWLDALQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_YEZlFbFZ52RNN

Krytox 205. . It’s viscous enough to lube without getting things too “wet.”
1 points • disgruntledJavaCoder
I'm assuming you're asking about 205g2? I'm pretty inexperienced here so I'm not qualified to say for sure, but the reviews are saying they've used it for switches successfully, and I see quite a few reports of it working fine for switches on this subreddit. You just need to use a very, very small amount of it since it's thick. If you're lubing for the first time it's probably easier to just source some 205g0 so you can see what "normal" is.

This is Krytox 205g2, and not 205g0, meaning it is way thicker, so you have to use way less. If I was bounded to Amazon and only Amazon I would get that or as someone else commented, super lube. You can definitely find better lube off of Amazon, though.

You’ll get way more than 3 ml but for a little extra money have it there by Saturday with two day shipping.

I would definitely try to find it in a jar because because sticking my brush inside it and trying to wipe off the excess became extremely tedious.

They have Krytox lube here:
https://www.amazon.com/Krytox-Grease-Pure-PFPE-PTFE/dp/B00MWLDALQ/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=krytox+205g0&qid=1605110392&sr=8-2
But I see people in the reviews note that it's 205g2 and not 205g0. I believe both work but from what I have seen (also new to KB building) 205g0 is generally more popular because it's easier to work with?

Everytime I see someone drop a link for lube its to some kinda obscure 3rd party website where they're almost always sold out. Why dont people drop link to the Krytox 205 on Amazon? Are they not the same? And if they aren't the same, would the Amazon stuff work?

I have an Ergodox EZ with cherry MX browns. I felt the same roughness you’re talking about.
I used Taeha Types’ tutorial https://youtu.be/qSgPKPoFo2k with krytox GPL 205. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MWLDALQ/ref=ppx_od_tab_ap_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
I used a tiny bit of lube and I’ve been very happy with the result. The keys feel much nicer and have a more satisfying ‘thok’. It took me maybe 6 unhurried and pleasant hours to pull, open, lube, close, and reseat each switch. My switches didn’t need to be unsoldered and resoldered. I expect that would be much more of a PITA.
Hope this helps!

Some Keebs are just born to have that said "twang" when you hit the space bar or any key that needs stabs for that matter. A lot of the time its just poor quality material or maybe you just got a lemon. Might be worth trying a round 2 with amazon and see if they have another one in stock for a replacement. Otherwise Try lubing your stabs and keys to see if that helps with your perfect idea of a key clicking.

Hi,
I hope this isn't too bad to post these here, as i didn't want to create yet another 'help me build' thread in the main sub-reddit....
I'm trying to work out what parts to order to build my first Mech from scratch. I have some questions however -
PCBs
I'm looking at something hotswap so i can play around with switches, but I'm not finding any TKL hotswap PCBs. Is anyone aware of any?
Assuming not, my backup is the GK61XS kit from Amazon that comes with a plastic case.
Cases
I hear however that the GK61XS has size issues, is there a known list of cases that it will fit in anywhere does anyone know? As i'd like to get a metal case?
Stabs
Searching around Amazon shows a fair number of different stabs from different sellers. Are there any recommended sellers on Amazon for this sort of thing?
Lube
I belive Krytox/205 is the standard, is this correct?
Switches
I'm fairly used to Cherry Browns right now, having used them on my existing keyboards, and whilst i like them, i'd like something a little more...bespoke.
I was considering some of the Zeal switches - does anyone have any overall observations or recommendations there? (yes, i've read the wiki, ;-) i'm looking for direct input from others experiances).
Other
I plan to start collecting the parts to put all this together late next month, other than the above (+ caps), anything else i could be missing?
Some plasters to do the plaster mod? Small paint brush for the lube? Something to stuff inside the case to help with sound dampening?
Anything else?
Thanks!

My krytox 205g0 lube isn't coming for another ;). Will this 205g2 lube work similarly?

Got it. I found this krytox GPL205. Not sure which grade it is. https://www.amazon.com/Krytox-Grease-Pure-PFPE-PTFE/dp/B00MWLDALQ/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=krytox&qid=1587127913&sr=8-3
And this stuff r expensive...

I used regular Krytox 205 instead of Krytox 205g0 as you can get it on Amazon and it works great for stabs (and even for switches if you are very liberal)

this is the right lube for the switches right https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MWLDALQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Are you lubing stabs or switches?
[Here's] (https://www.1upkeyboards.com/shop/parts-and-tools/lubricant/switch-lubricant-2ml/) a variety of switch lubes. I prefer grease to oil, for no particular reason really 🤷♂️. Probably because I couldn't find oil when I started so it's what I'm comfy with.
[Here's] (https://www.amazon.com/Krytox-Grease-Pure-PFPE-PTFE/dp/B00MWLDALQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=krytox+205g0&qid=1594343336&sprefix=kryt&sr=8-3) fancy stab lube.
[Here's] (https://www.amazon.com/Super-Lube-21010-Synthetic-Blistered/dp/B000BXKZQU/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?dchild=1&keywords=super+lube&qid=1594343357&sprefix=super&sr=8-13) some more affordable stab lube.
A decent quantity of Krytox for cheap is a tall order, that stuff is pretty expensive. Tribosys for switch lube and Super Lube for stabs are the more affordable alternatives.
Hope that helps. Cheers.

Found this, but I think your best bet is to wait until switchmod.net restocks:

Thanks. That grease looks good. I was looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002KH0YDY/?coliid=I1GDQ7Z2DJ3C4X&colid=2YBQ3BI5O9ZJ6&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
Is it good?
I also found this lube:
I that good for this purpose? The reviews say it might not be as good for lubing switches because it is a bit too thick, but I think for this purpose might be good. Although it is a bit expensive.
1 points • RzyFza
You could try this. It isn't 205g0 but, some people have used it to lube their switches. Don't use too much of this stuff as it is thicker than 205g0.
Or you could try spray lubing. It's pretty messy but, very inexpensive. I'll drop a link to the product as well as Wildcat's tutorial.

Recentlry I have been wanting to get into keyboards and I thought that moding a GK61 would be a good place to start. I have ordered the keyboard with Gateron Optical Brown switches. Can someone tell me If I have everything I need to lube and film it in my cart?
