Comparing Part List To Prebuilt
Today my friend has shown interest in purchasing a new PC. His current budget is around $750-850.
This is the prebuilt he showed me as reference for what he wants.
Is there anything I should change to improve on the list? Also, I noticed that the prebuilt's CPU is actually 10% better at gaming than the 2600 I currently have in the list. I know most people use a 2600, but should I switch the CPU and motherboard out to an Intel build? He'll mostly be gaming, but it will be used for other things. Thanks everyone!

When looking at prebuilts look at what you could improve upon later.
An older I7 and ddr3 ram shows that it's an older mobo that could prevent upgrades without bottlenecking..
I wouldn't get it. I'd look at what cyberpowerpc has for around the same price, I've had more luck with them.
Could definitely get a PC with a 3200g, ddr4 ram, and an a320, or b450 Mobo. Which is at least upgradeable for a bit longer

Looking for Cheapest PREBUILT VR-Ready PC
I already have a PC capable of doing just about anything. My friend, however, recently got an Oculus Quest because I begged him to get into VR and he is now inevitably dying to get into PCVR via Oculus Link.
He isn’t tech savvy or very knowledgeable about computers in any way so having it prebuilt would be the best option. The man isn’t made out of money, either. The dude just wants something that works. His WiFi sucks ass at around 10 mbps download so letting him play on my Shadow PC was out of the picture.
I’ve heard talk that it can be done for around 500-700 bucks USD. I found the prebuilt PC linked below and was wondering if it might be VR ready? Any other PC recommendations or sites to look at? Thanks ya’ll.

I just got my first PC](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8mPbFb5X2GKB5) and when I first booted it up I plugged in the HDMI cable into the mother board and not the graphics card. It booted up regardless. Next I learned it was connected to the wrong place so I turned off the power and plugged the HDMI into the right port. This is all that I did. Once I turned back on the switch and clicked the power button (and held as well) nothing happens. The fans don’t turn on the RGB doesn’t turn on, nothing. The only thing that is on in the computer that I know because of a light. Is the motherboard.
TLDR: the PC powered up fine the first time. But when I turned it off to switch HDMI ports, The pc does not power on.
Pardon my sloppy writing.
I will answer any question to the best of my ability, but I have little to no experience.

I broke my alpha and am looking for something cheap to replace it. I had the alpha r1 base i3 4gb model that im pretty sure I paid 400 or at most 500 dollars for and was happy with the performance. I've given up at finding something for that price. Right now I'm looking at this right now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_I3q-Eb5C0XRN0

Just a little bit of info: you may not be able to run some AAA games that are coming in the next couple of years due to graphics improvements.
That being said, CyberPower has pretty good PCs for the price, out of all the prebuilt brands. Only thing is that they usually ship directly from their website rather than Amazon.
This is a good choice, only issue would be the ram, which is an easy upgrade. 8gb is a little low, 12 or 16gb would be more prepared for games.

As other have stated if your friend can swing the extra $200 the NZXT BLD starter PC is a much better configuration than the HP. It's not proprietary like the HP and will be upgradable in the future.
If your friend can't swing an extra $200 then for an extra $50 you can get a much better configuration.

But yeah like someone else said, an Xbox one S all digital is an insanely cheap way to get decent gaming
1 points • ToTimesTwoisToo
I don't think it's worth 760 -- it's very outdated platform with no upgrade paths
For example you could get this
750 https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=%22gtx+1660%22+desktop&qid=1588107852&s=pc&sr=1-11
very new parts, better CPU, better GPU
that monitor is very basic and only worth like 40 bucks really.
that said, if you can get the owner to come down to 450 bucks for the package, I think it's a better deal. Objectively the i7 3770 + gtx 1060 6gb is still a very capable gaming machine for 1080p 60hz.
You can tell the owner that the tech is very dated as a bargaining chip

Look, your 2500 dollar PC might be having some kind of issues if you’re not seeing a major difference. Or maybe you aren’t using a high refresh monitor? Consoles are certainly not locked at 60fps. The vast majority of games are still running at 30fps on Xbox and ps4.
It’s definitely getting better, but an 800 dollar PC from amazon will still crush a gaming console.
They are definitely getting closer, and I truly look forward to the day when I can buy a console and plug a mouse and keyboard into it and play whatever shooter I want at 144hz. I’m a mac guy for work. I hate having to own a PC just for games.
But to act like a console will give a similar gaming experience is pretty disingenuous.

If 'system integrator' isn't the right term let me know. I just mean the builds that look like they're made of off the shelf parts. As opposed to the more traditional OEM pre-builts with parts made specifically for them.
There's still a chance I'll convince him to build. His concern is ordering parts with COVID going on. My thought was that if got a cheap pre-built with off the shelf parts, swapping parts/upgrading would be more feasible. Iirc there was a linus video where they reviewed pre-builts from the major manufacturers and some of them had proprietary power connectors on their mobos and stuff like that would be problematic.

Cyberpowerpc on Amazon has some good builds that serve as a base that you can upgrade later down the road (that's what I did)

Here's a great pre-built pc (for the money). It's normally around $1200. But once a day or 5 times a week you can find it for $749. Right now as I'm typing it's at the $749 price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VGJDKZ4/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
Building one yourself means you'll need to buy Windows 10 which can be $110 of the price. So, this system is basically like building it for $639, which probably can't be done. It just has an old Z3 mobo, not even a B450.
At least it's wi-fi ready.
