As for Trump he did want presidents can do. Trump closed boarders to stem the spread and was labeled a xenophobe and racist by the Democrats. He sent a hospital ship to NYC, which Cuomo refused to use, sent ventilators to various states. In particular he sent many to NYC as it was hardest hit, due to Cuomo sending those sick to the most vulnerable in nursing homes. Cuomo refused to use any of those ventilators. Trump sent help and it was mostly refused by the Democrats because of TDS.

Yes that is pushed so much lately, just like the whole nwo in the early 2000s and the "new normal" in march and april. Though from experience I'm not sure if they are this transparent and straightforward with their goals. That it is pushed so much makes it appear as some low-hanging fruit of sorts. They tend to like to mix in some unexpected events from time to time.

If you look at youtube comments, masses of people are aware - and they comment sections don't appear that censored which means they want it that way for whatever reason (or simply don't care at all).
I wouldn't have thought it myself that this somewhat "mass awakening" would happen but it's unavoidable when fascism is suddenly increased that much. So with countless people being aware of these issues and completely loosing any trust in the system as a whole there might be something else planned:

I theorize the actual thing may happen through getting the people to mass protests and resist the system worldwide and then - after "successfully defeating" the system, they (through a completely new set of politicians for example) then introduce and install the new system - the actual "reset" - which may bring a few less bad years.
Though that's for sure the less realistic possibility of how it may turn out as of now, compared to what you described as the likely scenario.

Btw, in case you haven't already, you might wanna take a look at the london olympic opening show from 2012. You might get some deja-vues caused by dancing doctors and nurses, boris jonson in a hospital bed, the narrator speaking of "pandemonium", the whole stadium being decorated like a virus, the whole series of very specific events (that have absolutely nothing to do with sports) beginning related to china, etc. etc.
And the logo of the tokyo olympics 2020 (released years ago) has pretty much a depiction of a virus right in the center - funny coincidence, as well as the motto "United by Emotion" - and fear is quite an emotion.

The main argument for me is that ypu lose your rights and basically become a worker drone for a small elite. The supply chains of remaining comporations will be forcebly converted to prioritize automation, digitilization, tracking & tracing, etc. All remaining companies will eventually become part of some cyberpunk Big Brother control grid, designed to micromanage every aspect of our lives.
You can expect a Universal Basic Income to be provided to keep the many jobless in check as this system gets implemented. This will allow most people to live a stable live just above or around the povery line. Only those who managed to have the skills needed for the few jobs remaining in this high tech dystopia will be able to maintain a middle class lifestyle.
