I use these quite often. Just hooks into an aux, tape, etc.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016NUTG5K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_uaxtFbBTTB7XE
It does require its own power supply but most amps/receivers have them. It works especially way on a "switched" outlet off the amp so it turns on and off with it.

headphone jack out from the laptop to RCA line in on the Amp, easy peasy. Or, the way I used to do it with my play 5 is get a bluetooth-RCA adapter then any bluetooth device can connect to the amp.
you'll want to keep the headphone volume set pretty low since it's an amplified output, if it sounds bad it's too high.

I dont know the particular model you are looking at, but it certainly is possible. We have a Magnavox and a Packard Bell here that we've done this to. Bluetooth solution even as basic as this works fine in an aux or tape input. We just tuck them inside the cabinet or right under the lid for the turntable if they have a pairing button.
For the turntable, we've successfully gotten them working with a cartridge that happily tracks where the table is happy, often 2-3g. I think one of them is a Shure SC35C or similar? Since the output is lower than the ceramic cart, we did have to add a standalone phono preamp. And for the Magnavox, we had to fab our own cartridge mounting plate so it would bolt into the headshell.
All of the speakers and amp bits are original. We did replace the crossover caps and the caps in the amp. We are doing a little experimenting with upgraded speakers, but the originals were designed to work with the rest of the parts in the console, its hard to find replacements that work at the low power output of the amps.
They were fun projects, and get frequent use around here. Although they wont blow you away fidelity-wise, they are warm and easily fill a room with sound. Hope that helps, have fun, and be sure to show us how it turns out.

More knowledgeable people than I will help with amp recommendations. But you can always add a separate bluetooth module for 20 bucks to whatever amp/avr you end up getting if they don't have bluetooth built in. Like this one.

Perhaps you didn't word your title properly: "Issues getting audio out of my mystery phone using an unidentified type-C to RCA cable."
It seems far more likely that you aren't getting the audio out of your phone the way you wish. It seems unlikely that multiple inputs on your receiver are dead.
Good for you that you tested the receiver inputs and they appear to be reacting properly. But there is much more variation in different phones and interfaces and cables and that seems to be the more likely location of the problem.
What phone? IOS? Android? Windows? Something else?
What "type c to RCA cable"? How do you know it is working?
Why not use Bluetooth? This is probably more reliable that some random cable and fiddly phone software. More convenient and portable as well. There are Bluetooth receivers that you can connect to your receiver if it is an older model without Bluetooth.

I have an Apple TV (bought the 4k one) and have my settings set for 1080p. I also have a logitech bluetooth audio adapter that I plugged into my speaker system, and then have my apple tv connect to that. It works well & definitely less wires.

Personally I think your best bet might be to look for a used older reciever that has optical inputs. I dont know what your market is like in Europe, but where I live in the U.S. if it doesn't have an HDMI input in the back no one wants it and you can find it on Facebook Market place for under $50. That might be your cheapest route. As I'm writing this does your TV have bluetooth? If so you might try this Bluetooth Audio Adapter for Music Streaming Sound System, esinkin W29-us Wireless Audio Adapter Works with Smart Phones and Tablets, Wireless Adapter for Speakers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016NUTG5K/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_fabc_wGLZFbK6QJ5WG
As far as your wife is concerned you will never win that battle. I have 1200 albums, over 200 CDs ripped onto a plex server, stereos and speakers in every room of the house including the kitchen and I still come home to hear alexa playing Billy Joel. I just wait until the song is over, turn alexa off, and go put one one of his albums of which we have all on them.

You'll need an amplifier. You can get really small ones like this one, it's only about 4x4 inches.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077GWVHHN/ref=cm_sw_r_wa_apa_i_LMAZEbQTRF6HW
And into this, you can plug a Bluetooth dongle to get what you're looking for.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016NUTG5K/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_-OAZEb95YYNRF
There are probably a dozen different tiny amps and Bluetooth dongles but this will do what you want. I've had that very amp installed for my outside speakers for a couple years now. No problems.
Edit: you can actually find similar amps with Bluetooth built right in as well. Basically, you don't need a big giant receiver like you were fearing.

I just quickly googled the manual. It has audio inputs on the back so you can buy a bluetooth adapter and plug it in that way.

Look at the Logitech. I don't know if it has the price you are looking for but I hated it just because it was always on. Every time I tried to play to another bluetooth receiver, it would always snatch the signal first sending the signal to a different amp. Any effort to disconnect it would result in a reconnection. I just ended up unplugging it a first then put it on a smart plug. It was a pretty good sounding unit.Logitech

While I completely agree with you about vintage turntables, you’re forgetting something important:
>She only has Bluetooth speakers and headphone >so it has to link with Bluetooth.
With a vintage turntable (which can be a very daunting thing to purchase for someone like OP who clearly has no experience with them) this would require at the bare minimum an external phono preamp and a component Bluetooth transmitter. Not only will adding those items add considerable expense, I get the feeling that neither OP or her mother has the knowledge to set them up. I also think OP would be a little lost picking those items out as well.
Given the entirety of this situation, if OP is still dead set on getting her mom the gift of hifi audio gear, I think a better present would be a nice ‘80s or ‘90s vintage stereo receiver with a phono input, quality passive speakers, and an inexpensive Bluetooth receiver like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B016NUTG5K
Based on the above post we don’t know if her mom even still owns any records, but we know she has no real HiFi stereo and currently listens to Bluetooth.

You could get a simple bluetooth audio transmitter to play to bluetooth from your phone. Something like this:

Airplay works for me but both my TV’s that I use Chromecasts also support Airplay. Also both TV’s have Bluetooth-compatible soundbars. If I didn’t have that I’d buy a cheap Bluetooth receiver that is compatible with my TV or whatever I’m using for speakers and connect via Bluetooth.
Edit: I’d buy this thing if I didn’t have Airplay or Bluetooth but did have RCA jacks.

It will "work", but it has a built-in battery that will need to be recharged.
EDIT: I'd look at something like this.

I have the Logitech unit mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Got it in May 2018. I love it.
Recently I was looking to get another one, but it was unavailable. So I got this: knockoff? As far as I can tell, they are the exact same thing, probably made in the same factory. Performance is the same, they look identical, etc.
I’m happy with both units.

That is some hi-class equipment you have received.
If you want 5.1 or more you will need an AVR. Most AVRs have bluetooth and WiFi abilities nowadays.
I'd suggest keeping the accuphase and jbl equipment as their own setup and grabbing an avr and some more speakers to complete a 5.1 setup. You can use a bluetooth adapter for music from your phone if you want to, but hardwire would be best.
You can get an Energy cc-10 center speaker for under $200 and a pair of energy cb-10 for $200 ish. You don't need to match surrounds so some Nht superzero 2.1 from Amazon or some micca mb42x would work for surrounds.
You can also grab the new Yamaha rx-v4a for under $450. Or a refurbished Denon s650h, s750h, x1500h, x1600h from accessories4less when they are in stock.

You need a Bluetooth transmitter. And then buy two cable adapters that are 1/4" to RCA.

- Are speakers attached? And do you want to listen to stuff through this and its connected speakers?
- You can stream from your phone to a Bluetooth Audio Adapter connected to your amp & speakers here.
- If you want to stream AM/FM to a set of bluetooth speakers you have in the house you can look at this product RCA connector to Bluetooth. You'll need to plug it into your "TAPE OUT" RCA connectors in the back
1 points • atm259
This is possible. If the audio works now you can just plug a bluetooth adapter like this one in the back of the functional receiver and be on your way.
If the receivers don't work (and even if they do) I would look to replace them. Those are in picture 5 & 9. You can purchase a multi zone receiver that can connect all the speakers together and play multi room audio like this one.
The difficult part will be sorting the wiring and depending on which 5.1 system you have, getting the subwoofer connect can be difficult.

Not exactly budget, but FWIW, I bought the Klipsch The Three and have been really impressed with the sound. It's the first Klipsch product I've owned but would definitely give their other bluetooth speakers a try when I need to get another one down the road.
That aside, to send bluetooth to a receiver, you need a bluetooth receiver that you can plug into one of the inputs on the receiver. I can't speak to any particular product, but there's a lot out there. Here's but one I found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Adapter-Streaming-Wireless-Speakers/dp/B016NUTG5K

Bluetooth adapter like this you then use RCA cables from the adapter into the Aux 1 or Aux 2 (red / white RCA ports) on the back of your system here.
Or the cheaper way is 3.5mm headphone to RCA cable headphone plugs into the iphone and RCA again plugs into Aux 1 or Aux 2.

If you have non bluetooth speakers you like you can add bluetooth with a simple bluetooth aux adapter.

I hooked up my old Denon receiver in the garage to a an Echo Dot via a mini stereo cable. Works great to play music over voice commands.
When I was researching this though I came across this little Bluetooth accessory link that could work as well.

I have a tedious technical question about my audio setup and this seems like the place for it so here goes.
A couple years back I bought a pair of JBL LSR 305 studio monitors. (The official JBL page is here: https://jblpro.com/products/lsr305). They sound great and fit perfectly into my very small living room.
Part of the reason I bought them was that they had a 1/4" jack input. Since all the listening I do is from my phone or computer I bought an 1/8" 1/4" Stereo Y-Cable Splitter Cord. I just plug in my phone or computer and bypass the need for a stereo receiver.
There's nothing wrong with this setup per se but I'd really like the option to use Bluetooth on my phone for music. Is there a simple device that will receive Bluetooth and spit it out through a 1/4" jack in stereo? There are a lot of devices like this: https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Adapter-Streaming-Wireless-Speakers/dp/B016NUTG5K/ref=sr_1_3?crid=36VP1E6GKYUZC&dchild=1&keywords=bluetooth+receiver+with+1%2F4+jack&qid=1608919294&sprefix=bluetooth+receiver+with+1%2F4%2Caps%2C164&sr=8-3 but I don't see any with a 1/4" output. And I don't need (or have the space for) a fancy stereo receiver.
Any suggestions?

I'm glad you realized it haha.
I really don't know what you'd need. (Maybe something like this?](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FVN14FH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_IkkwEbHBHAFJY)
Or maybe your best bet is to get a DAC and a separate Bluetooth receiver and use one of these to switch between them.

There's RCA and digital optical inputs on the back of the NR1504. You'd connect into one of those and then pair your phone to the BT receiver and play whatever you want. Here's a couple options, but really there's dozens of similar things. There's also more advanced options like Heoslink or Bluesound if you want to get fancy.

You can add Bluetooth to just about any amp that has a free input connection. These typically run from about $25 up to about $75, though you can certainly pay more.
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=bluetooth+receiver+transmitter&crid=3VMVAW3M0I6XS&sprefix=Bluetooth+Receiver+t%2Caps%2C171

https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Simultaneously/dp/B07BQYYDNJ/
Of course this is just a cross-section of possible Bluetooth Receiver/Transmitters.
If you are considering new speakers at a low cost, then consider these -
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/506995-REG/Yamaha_NS_6490_NS_6490_Bookshelf_Speaker_Pair.html
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/reviews/yamaha-8-3-way-bookshelf-speakers-pair-black/5526362
These are 8" Speakers so they are not tiny, but for the modest money, they are generally good.
But notice that, the cost of the Bluetooth only devices were not that much different that the cost of the Amp with Bluetooth built in.

I spent a while researching and answering a similar question to this on another person's post but they never responded so I never knew if it helped or not. This what I wrote about using an iPhone with your system:
"It might be better to have a system that will work with your phones and connect to the Wifi. Below are a couple of options
- Chromecast works with Android & Apple devices to streaming Audio & video (no Bluetooth) https://store.google.com/us/product/chromecast_ultra
- Apple TV works with Apple devices to stream Audio & Video (no Bluetooth) https://www.apple.com/apple-tv-4k/
- Bose has a Bluetooth & Wifi audio-only multiroom solution (if you buy Bose's SoundTouch speakers) https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/speakers/smart_home/soundtouch-adapter.html
- There are other Bluetooth audio-only devices out there. This was the first one I found on Amazon, but feel free to look around.
https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Adapter-Streaming-Wireless-Speakers/dp/B016NUTG5K/
"
There is another option that might help. You could always look on eBay and purchase a newer Lifestyle receiver. I believe all you will need the receiver, the power supply, and remote.
If you find one of the last ones made for the 525 & 535 you should be able to use the SoundTouch adapter with it. One problem is I'm pretty sure that the other room of sound you have won't work if you do that. Just know that the current Lifestyle systems Bose sell includes a wireless subwoofer, so those receivers won't work with yours.
