Thanks for the quick response. I am now thinking about getting that Samsung monitor.!I was also thinking of getting this Benq Monitor. Is the Benq monitor also a good choice or should I stick to the Samsung for reliability?
2 points • MTINC
Heard great things about this one, link. I've used many cheap BENQ's and they're good for the price. Slim bezels too.
However, it also depends on what performance you get out of your PC and what you're gonna use it for. At this price range, low refresh monitors and mediocre response times are likely. Granted, 60Hz and a 5ms response time isn't terrible, but if you're spending a lot on a new PC a better monitor is advisable.

Yea This BenQ goes on sale regularly and it is a way better monitor in my opinion

That looks good to me, probably overkill on the PSU but I guess it's worth it incase you plan on upgrading to a beefier GPU in the future.
I'd recommend following the vanilla guide linked in the about page on this sub, I tried following other guides I found while googling and they all sucked so hard, the vanilla install guide gives you all the info you need and all the correct kexts.
Also, that monitor is RIDICULOUSLY expensive for a 24 inch 1080p 60hz one. You could easily get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-proprietary-borderless-Brightness-GW2480/dp/B072XCZSSW/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=monitor+1080p&qid=1579667505&sr=8-4 for less than half the price, or get a bigger / higher resolution display if you're gonna spend $250 (I linked a monitor on Amazon as the newegg website kept redirecting me to the UK store as I'm from Ireland )

Its tricky getting gaming pc gifts, so many peripherals that are comfortable/ optimal for different people. For the monitor, whats the budget? Seems like prices are all over right now. Since its just a secondary monitor, a non-gaming one is all that's needed. Something like this: BenQ GW2480 23. 8”. If you were to look for alternatives, office style should be enough, and just keep an eye on the "flicker free" stuff in specs (it reduces eye strain, turns into a lifesaver if you're sitting there for a few hours at a time).

if you are sure you are fine with 1080p 60hz
There are slightly cheaper options but the price difference isn't enough to make them more worth it.

I went for Benq GW2480 which is a 24 inch monitor but it is excellent for eyes and has a reading mode with blue light reduction. I have been using it since the last 2 weeks and it is much better than working on my Macbook Pro.
If you want a 27 inch, you might want to look at some other company as I was not able to find the 27 inch with 1440p resolution. 24 inch works great for me although.

recently bought This BenQ monitor and have been pretty happy with what I got for the price. The speakers are a bit low, but the picture quality was nice and the I/O was comprehensive.

i'm a little new to this so pardon my ignorance. i just ordered this monitor:
https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-proprietary-borderless-Brightness-GW2480/dp/B072XCZSSW
i also recently purchased a laptop (ryzen 4600h, gtx 1650, hdmi). would OP's monitor or the one i just ordered be better for this, and will my laptop be able to utilize the higher refresh rate?
i imagine OP's monitor is better as the refresh rate is higher, but it's a TN panel and the one i ordered is IPS. once again, im not sure of the difference, but it seems people prefer IPS from what ive read?
could anyone help me out w/ their thoughts?
also @OP, does the monitor have any dead pixels, is it VESA mount-able, and does it come w/ an HDMI cable?
thanks in advance guys

Hi! This was a but of a tricky one, because I needed to pick out a computer and monitor all around $600! After a bit of work, I was able to get it down to $607. This is the build I would recommend:
The CPU is powerful and will handle things like photoshop, word documents, and web browsing beautifully. The 16gb of ram will be good and can handle opening lots of tabs.In terms of boot times, an SSD will definitely help cut down on lag. It will reduce system, and application load times. The GPU is the least important, and will really just be used for monitor output.
For a monitor, I would recommend this one. It is color accurate, bright, and will be perfect to get your budget down to around 600.
If you want me to change anything, just comment back and I will be sure to help you out!
I really hope this helps! -Elliot

get a monitor with an audio port as well/headphone jack as well as you can connect speakers to it directly (instead of the ps4 remote). like so:
1 points • nirvbm
Budget: max 150euros
Usage: school (plugging in my laptop) and light gaming on Ps4, and a little bit of lightroom/photoshop photo editing
i identified to options that could work but am open to other suggestions.
1) BenQ GW2480 24inch ips 1080p
2) LG UM58 25 inch ultrawide 21:9
Im leaning towards the ultrawide as although its not ideal for PS4 which doesnt support ultrawide, at least it will be really useful for productivity. One negative i saw was that the stand was rly bad and it is rly short so i would have to get an aftermarket stand. In favour of the benq, it does all the simple things right and has speakers which means i would not need to buy any. However i would lose the ultrawide aspect

Calibration should be done regularly. Every few weeks or so. Try looking on eBay for a used one, although you might run into software licensing issues.
Edit: since my answer wasn’t satisfactory I’d recommend this one. Inexpensive and nothing fancy, but solid, sleek, and gets the job done.

a 1080p 60hz IPS monitor would be good
size is up to you, but I think 24" - 27" is the sweet spot
24" https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-proprietary-borderless-Brightness-GW2480/dp/B072XCZSSW/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=1080p+monitor&qid=1580712634&sr=8-3

I haven't used them personally, but if you're experiencing eye strain I've heard good things about BenQ's line of Eye Care monitors.
If looking at other monitors the key things for you would be
- HDMI (required for Switch)
- Flicker free (to prevent eye strain)
- IPS panel instead of TN (better image quality, only slight price increase)
For latency, I won't get anything with latency above 8ms in a monitor and the lower the better. 8ms is lower than the best LCD TV on the market and it's really not hard to find a monitor with latency below that. The monitor linked has a response time of 5ms.
Built in speakers are nice for convenience but they're usually poor quality. Plugging in a $20 pair of speakers to the headphone jack on the Switch would be a vast improvement over any built in speakers.

Does anyone know how this compares to the BenQ 24in ips for the same price? https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-proprietary-borderless-Brightness-GW2480/dp/B072XCZSSW/ref=sr_1_3?crid=R3CZQM0Q1ID5&keywords=benq+24+inch+monitor&qid=1582599189&sprefix=benq%2Caps%2C218&sr=8-3

Hi, at this price point, I think that the BenQ GW2480 is always a good choice for a 1080p 24" display. For a 27" 1440p monitor, the ViewSonic VA2719 would be my recommendation.
1 points • Fluffycat6659
Hey didn't look for to long but I came up with this
$150
24"
1080p
75hz
1ms response time
Overall pretty good ratings
Then if you don't mind getting the exact same thing (ASUS) then I think this would be good to look at. *side note, I couldn't find if the first one had a IPS panel or not, I just kind of assumed it didn't because it wasn't clearly stated.
$100
24"
1080p
60hz
IPS *best pannel type for color etc*

Don't only take my opinion though as I definitely would NOT call myself an expert

The iMac is capable of target display mode using Thunderbolt, however since your laptop doesn't have a native thunderbolt port I'd recommend against it. You'll most likely have a ton of issues trying to get a thunderbolt adapter working under windows, assuming you can find a compatible thunderbolt card...assuming your laptop can accept a card...etc. It can be done, but its problematic to say the least. Way too many assumptions and the cost will probably be prohibitive.
That iMac is a 1440P model. You can find 1440P monitors online or locally for decent prices right now. If you don't need 1440P and can accept 1080P, you can find all kinds of decent monitors for around $100 to $150. If you have a MicroCenter nearby, they have decent deals and usually have open-box items that are great deals. Stay away from the Wallyworld Onn brand...they're cheap and junk.

Looking for a 24" 1080p monitor as a second monitor to go with my AOC 24G2- right now I'm looking at the BenQ GW2480, the HP V240A, and the AOC 24B2XH. Does anyone have any advice regarding these three monitors, and are there any other monitors I should look into? Thanks.

I've been on this exact same search the last week. I need a new primary monitor that is 27" IPS 1440p 144hz Vesa-compliant and I've basically come to the conclusion that the LG 27GL83A-B is the best budget option ($380), but if you want highend the the Gigabyte FI27Q-P appears to be a beast.
On the other hand, if you're OKwith 1080p the BenQ GW280 is a steal for $99
1 points • Razgriz1223
If you're really set on saving money. $150
Good monitor that's a little future proof. Would rather get the 24" model but it's not in stock. $210
If you want a balanced monitor that costs a little more but still considered cheap and future proof. $250
