>During a test run sailing from Brisbane to Sydney, on her first night after leaving Brisbane, Ella's Pink Lady collided with the Silver Yang, a 63,000-tonne bulk carrier at about 02.00 am on 9 September 2009 near Point Lookout.[23]

I guess she should have read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Avoid-Huge-Ships-John-Trimmer/dp/0870334336

I guess the old saying is true.

“It doesn’t matter the size of the boat or the motion of the ocean.

What matters is how long the boat can stay in dock until everyone gets off.”

Maybe buying How to avoid huge ships is a good purchase at this rate...

Very long. They're the ocean equivalent of a fully loaded freight train at full speed. They cannot stop, they cannot turn, don't get in their way. If two of them are in each other's way, well, brace for a boom.

Also they usually don't crash into each other in the middle of nowhere. They crash into each other in port, or in narrow heavily trafficked navigational waterways like canals and straits.

It's become a hilarious meme, but Captain John Trimmer wrote "How to avoid huge ships" with serious safety concerns in mind. They're basically an unstoppable force and anything that gets in front of them is going to get smashed.

I put this is the same category as the ridiculous prices on some books on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Avoid-Huge-Ships-John-Trimmer/dp/0870334336 It's the algorithms. I notice that track saws are really garbled as to what they come with too.
