I use the drive in the OP with the cable linked below. Just have to plug it in in a specific order. Also if I plug the drive all the way it it gets a bit finicky. I plug it all the way in and then back out just a touch.

that does not mean modifying console itself. if you're using a powered otg , all you do is installing a kernel that Eris automatically installs. if it fried your HDD , you probably used wrong hubs/otgs or wrong Adapter for PSClassic's USB cable. fast chargers can kill it
modifying console is only when you open it to Solder the power limiter points , so it can be bypassed , which DoctorDalek showed it perfectly on his Youtube channel , but is not recommended but yeah it is strongly recommended in all communities to use either a Powered OTG or a Powered USB Hub as those don't require opening console and are safe. here's one that works very well https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FY9Z9GD

I have used one of these with a cheap $5 USB octopus style hub and having a thumb drive and network adapter connected without issue. I later made it an internal mod connecting the hub to USB port 2 and gave it to my brother's kids as a Christmas present. I had decided to make the hub internal so they wouldn't really be able to mess with the setup and make it look cleaner too. My theory is lifting the pins on the front USB ports and connecting them to a hub. Then have the hub connected to the otg cable and putting a hole big enough between where the top and bottom of the PSC casing for the cable to pass out the back of the unit. You gotta be careful though bc I broke one of the two pins I lifted and it was a pain in the butt to get a wire connected to what was left. I have crappy cellphone pics of the internal mod I did but not sure how to share them for you to see.

You either connect the drive to the front with a powered USB hub (bonus: lets you connect the drive and the 2nd controller), do the power mod, or install either the Autobleem or Project Eris OTG kernel and connect the drive through an OTG cable connected to the back of the console.
All three of those would get you to a stable system.

Fire TV Stick 4k?
A Y-OTG cable will do just that.

I was thinking to connect them with something like this OTG power cable. Not sure if it would work, though.

Short answer: Not yet, but it's coming with the desktop app/v1.0 launch when that happens.
Long answer: Yes, but it's along the lines of FTP type stuff and not super user friendly.
Also, I strongly advise against using controller port 2 for anything but installing the initial payload. You'll almost certainly run into power draw problems down the line, even if it seems to work fine initially. Get an OTG cable instead and plug your USB into that. (The one I linked is the exact one I have and it works flawlessly.)

The Roku Express has a micro USB port for power, right? I believe that is actually a USB-on-the-go connector, so you might be able to connect something like this in order to get a standard USB port, and then use the Roku Media Player app. (I don't have a Roku Express and haven't tried this, so no guarantees at all.)

u could look into otg, i think that works, u can add storage to the micro usb port, u need a special cable.

I'm running autobleem but have otg installed as well from eris/bleemsync.
I'm looking for more of a solution like this

You can either use an USB hub connected to the second player slot or have the flash drive hooked up to the back of the console via an OTG cable!
Here is an OTG cable I recommend: AuviPal 2-in-1 Micro USB Cable... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FY9Z9GD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

You can use a 2-in-1 Micro USB to USB Adapter (OTG Cable + Power Cable) one micro usb female for the power supply to plug into and a male end to connect to the firestick itself, while having a USB port. Works great this is how I sideload all my apps then open with total commander. 2-in-1 Micro USB to USB Adapter (OTG Cable + Power Cable)

The rear port has no current limiter like the front ports so it will provide plenty of power for your USB thumbstick; no need for a powered USB hub.
As far as OTG cable/hub, I use a very simple one but you can use an OTG hub if you want extra ports eventually for a wifi adapter or if you plan to use more than 2 controllers for games that support it. This is the simple cable I use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FY9Z9GD/
I've seen other people recommend this one if you need extra ports: https://www.amazon.com/TUSITA-Adaptor-Charging-Adapter-Raspberry/dp/B00LTHBCNM/
The front ports have a built-in current limiter, which is where all the problems come from with power shortages and why only certain low-power USB drives are compatible with the front ports. You can use pretty much any USB stick in the rear port with no problem once you enable OTG.

Here's my current setup. I'm using this OTG cable and this USB hub, both of which I originally purchased for my SNES classic. Here, I have both a 3-button controller and an 8bitdo 2.4G wireless controller plugged into the hub, together with a Sandisk USB 3.0 drive where I have all my files. Emulation Station (seen on the screen), RA, and PL all recognize the two controllers.

You can record just fine with Fire devices. You just need to get a USB hub. I have this one on both my fire stick 4Ks: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00LLUEJXW
You'll also need any cheap OTG adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/AuviPal-Micro-USB-Cable-Power/dp/B07FY9Z9GD
This will replace the Amazon ethernet adapter if you're using it.
Then you can plug in any flash drive, USB hard drive, SSD, etc to use as a storage location. You cam also use the hub for a keyboard/mouse like Logitech K400.

Looks like it is possible with one of these. A usb memory stick isn't going to give you a ton of memory, but it looks like you can expand it. Video files take up a lot of memory. I'd still rather go the android box and external hard drive mode. Cost a little more, but you get a lot more recording on it.

> I literally just grabbed the first one I saw on amazon for reference cause I’m at work. > > Let me see if I’m understanding you right. With one like the one you linked we would be able to use usb for storage as well as use the Ethernet for internet at the same time. All without them conflicting with each other. > > I feel like I read somewhere you could only either use usb for storage or use Ethernet for a wired connection. You didn’t have the option to use them both at the same time. Which I seriously hope I’m completely wrong about this. > > Also I completely agree with that one being better because of the usb power plug instead on a barrel one. Literally have like 20 or more of those dam chargers at home.
I think some of the confusion comes from there being only one usb port on the 4K. So this is the connection sequence.
You first need a usb OTG cable with a male micro-D, a female USB-A (the big one) and a female micro-D. This one....
https://www.amazon.com/AuviPal-Micro-USB-Cable-Power/dp/B07FY9Z9GD/
The male micro-D connects to the side of the 4K. You connect the 4K power adapter to the female micro-D connector.
Then you connect the UGreen male USB-A connector to the female USB-A connector of the OTG cable.
The 4Ks power is passed through to the 4K.
Now connect your Ethernet cable to the back of the UGreen hub. The 4K will configure your network automatically preferring Ethernet over WIFI.
If you want to use a memory stick to "expand" the internal memory of the 4K, plug it into the UGreen hub and go to https://troypoint.com/expand-fire-tv-stick-4k-internal-storage/
Before you do the "expand" procedure, uninstall all non-essential apps. This is because without the expanded internal memory all apps of course install to the builtin memory which you run out of pretty quick.
After you "expand" the memory by using a memory stick, you will find that some apps after installation will have a little memory stick icon beside them in the manage applications menu.
Kodi is one of those type apps.
You don't get to decide which apps will install to the "expanded" memory stick. That is decided by the app author.
Lastly, if you want to use a hard drive with videos on it, plug it into the UGreen hub and add a mobile charger to the UGreen micro-D connector of the side of the UGreen hub to power the hard drive.
You will also need to install VLC to the 4K to access those videos.

> Buying an ethernet adapter, only problem here is that I can't charge the tablet all day.
you can buy powered otg cables that allow charging and usage of a USB device at the same time. Just got to find one that would work for your situation.
edit: Something like this might be better. Power passes through, ethernet dongle in the usb A port.

Any flash drive should work but I do know some people had some trouble so just make sure it's a quality drive.
The flash drive gets plugged into the back with an OTG cable, I use a y split OTG cable like this and had it for a couple years now;
https://www.amazon.com/AuviPal-Micro-USB-Cable-Power/dp/B07FY9Z9GD
This one was the original style i was going for before they didn't have them available and I went to the y split

No problem.
For what it's worth, this is the OTG (On-the-go) adapter I use. It came in a 2-pack, so I use one for my phone periodically.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FY9Z9GD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I should also clarify, you still need the normal power adapter to run the system itself. If you have a powered USB hub, that bypasses the problem of the underpowered controller port, so good on you for having one around. I did not. You could technically run everything off that controller port if you wanted, but then you lose the ability to use 2 controllers :)
But now that you have the mod installed, get yourself a OTG adapter if you want and you won't need that powered hub at all unless you want to use a WiFi adapter or something.

You don't have to use specifically Bleemsync for OTG support (Project Eris is now the successor so I'd use that), it's only required initially to get the OTG compatibility and after that you can use anything. Other options include Retroboot and Autobleem although I'd probably stick to Project Eris as you get more options and I especially like how Emulationstation is built in as it's a nice looking front-end for retroarch.
This is the powered OTG adapter I use https://www.amazon.com/AuviPal-Micro-USB-Cable-Power/dp/B07FY9Z9GD (comes with 2 which is nice for a spare or another console but they do sell a 1 pack as well for cheaper). As for the flash drive you're gonna want something that'll work before switching to OTG, or you could do the power limiter mod or use a powered usb hub and use just about anything. I've personally tested the SanDisk Cruzer Glide 32GB ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008AF380Q ) and that was able to install the mod for me no problem just plugging into a front port, but after the mod is installed you can use pretty much any flash drive using OTG (Usb 2.0 flash drives with 32GB or less of capacity are a pretty safe bet for the initial install)

Most media players aren't designed to work with one of those killer remotes, but Kodi is... sort of. If you use a wireless keyboard there are shortcuts for pretty much every function and you can edit the keymaps yourself for the functions that are missing. There will be a bit of a learning curve though because player functions are mapped to keystrokes, not dedicated buttons with a helpful graphic on them.
If you do decide to go with a wireless keyboard like that, you need to know there are two types that look the same... USB which uses a dongle similar to a wireless mouse, and Bluetooth, which does't use a dongle. I use the former, but there are advantages to both. The Bluetooth one will connect to any Fire TV device with no additional hardware, but that is actually a bit of a disadvantage, as I'll explain in a moment. The USB dongle type requires that your Fire TV has a USB port, which Firesticks don't unless you connect one of these or better yet, one of these. If you have a Firestick I strongly recommend you attach something like the latter to give it connectivity more similar to devices like the Fire TV Cube.
The reason a wireless keyboard with a USB dongle can be a better choice than a Bluetooth model is that, as any BT device does, you have to pair a BT keyboard to the stick. If you have lost your remote this can be impossible. Also I have seen stories of Firestick owners doing a factory reset, and being unable to re-pair their OEM remote the normal way during initial setup wizard. This can leave you with a Firestick you can't connect to WiFi, so you can't use a phone app like Kore to control it, and which you can't pair a BT keyboard to. In this situation the only way to get things working again is to use a USB-connected keyboard to navigate the Firestick menus to connect to your WiFi and re-pair your OEM remote from the Fire OS setup menu instead of the initial configuration wizard.

yea i have pretty much the same thing. I had to order one for my playstation classic to mod it and i could only find them in a 2 pack that were a good price and were still prime. I got these: https://www.amazon.com/AuviPal-Micro-USB-Cable-Power/dp/B07FY9Z9GD

I think your description of how it was setup is correct. here's a quick diagram: https://imgur.com/a/qPpEG37

I have the Headunit Reloaded app installed on my tablet and the standard android auto app on my phont which makes all of this possible. depending on your setup you can also have it work wirelessly which i may look into in the future.

For what it's worth, to record on android with an XLR, this is the setup i used (and procured prior to quarantine, good luck finding it!)
Audio Evolution Mobile App on android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.aemobile - Yes it's paid, but it also has drivers to interface with a USB sound source.
USB-OTG cable - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FY9Z9GD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - It lets you plug USB things into your phone just like you can with your computer. These come in USB-C if that's your thing.
Interface - Focusrite 2i2 3rd gen- https://www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Scarlett-Audio-Interface-AMS-SCARLETT-2I2-3G/dp/B07QR73T66/ref=dp_ob_title_ce - An interface is where you plug your XLR mic in and get USB out that you can plug into your phone or computer. You have wiggle room here, but the focusrite scarlet are very well regarded, easy to use, and put out very good sound quality at the beginner level. The Beheringer HD interfaces also work well, but if you go below those, you start to lose sound quality and introduce pre-amp hiss.
For my mic, I like the ATR2005usb - https://www.amazon.com/Technica-AT2005USB-Handheld-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B007JX8O0Y/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=at2005usb&qid=1588166751&sr=8-4 - It has a USB out, but i use the XLR whenever I can, but it's nice to have the USB option just in case.
From there, you can export the recorded audio from audio evolution via mixdown to edit in audacity or reaper on the pc, or i guess you "can" edit in evolution but poking at a phone for longer than a game of angry birds doesn't work for me..

Hopefully you used this process with Macrium Reflect and not some other process; If you did use some other process....do it again with that one so it works right lol
You may need to change the BIOS boot option from "legacy" to "UEFI", every manufacturer displays this option differently. You may also have to download the W10 ISO so you can put it on a USB stick to get the Windows Recovery to fix the boot partition. The ISO is free, the product key is not and you can do it with Android (no idea on iPhone) with a OTG y-cable (I prefer this but this is also an option)

- OTG Cable- https://www.amazon.com/AuviPal-Micro-USB-Cable-Power/dp/B07FY9Z9GD
- Any powered USB Hub will work fine. Non-powered one will also work for low power devices like pendrives. The Hub that i use is not available on amazon. Instead you can use any Powered USB Hub like this for example- https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Individual-Switches-Included-HB-UMP3/dp/B00TPMEOYM
- USB to Ethernet adapter - Use any
- USB Storage/Pen Drives/HDD - All USB storage must be in FAT32 Format. Otherwise it will not get detected. Note: HDD will require external powered USB Hub.
- Keyboard- Any wired or Wireless Keyboard/mouse should work that has USB receiver. I use Logitech MX900.
- Gamepad/Controller- I use Microsoft Xbox 360 Wired Controller.
