It's 60w but remember devices like macbooks are now using USB cables as chargers.

Edit: well duh, I could've googled this. I found an audio forum that raves about the Anker powered hubs

OP: I have a Scarlett 2i2 plugged into a ThinkPad laptop. I'm running out of USB ports and was thinking of getting a hub. Would also save wear and tear on my USB ports not having to plug and unplug multiple devices everyday.

My concern is audio interference if I plug the 2i2 into the USB hub. Other devices that would likely be plugged in would be a laser printer, keyboard, mouse, webcam or DSLR, external HDD, USB audio card (allows for separate mic input and speaker output.)

If I plug the 2i2 into a hub with all those devices is it likely to end up with audio problems?

If so, I suppose I could put everything else on the hub and the 2i2 on its own USB port.

If you have experience with this, are there some USB hubs that are better quality with less audio problems than others?

this one may be total overkill, but this powered hub, is running 3 usb hdds and a second usb hub with 6 usb flash drives, on my fire tv.

the usb power ports are handy as well.

Had this for years. Never broke, just lost the wall plug.

May be overkill, but a multi port powered USB hub may help. Especially if your board doesn't have enough onboard ports, or your case doesn't have extra ports.

Maybe the switch is broken on it. I've had no problems with this hub--

Anker has been around a while. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VDVCQ84/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_je3cFbZVFXMW2

I got an Amazon basics 7-port USB 3 hub not long ago but it appears it isn’t available anymore.

Your best bet is probably just to get a regular USB hub and a C to A adapter. Or try to find one with a removable cable then get a C to whatever the hub uses.

Something like this should work. You'd just have to find one local to you.

You need one dongle for each tracker. Having multiple will definitely put a strain on your USB ports. When I was setting up a Vive mocap studio a couple of years ago at Starbreeze I used a good Anker USB 3 hub for it. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerIQ-Charging-MacBook-Surface/dp/B00VDVCQ84

Something like a USB hub which plugs into a wall and the computer should deliver enough power to plug in all of your devices. This would be something you can consider.

There are also a few hubs which can be turned on and off with a button, but they can be more expensive.

I opted for the Schiit Hel because of YouTube reviews that showed how much better the mic sounds on the Fulla and Hel. It is definitely worth it if you want your headset mic sounding better. This DOES sound better than going directly to motherboard.

Hel sounds subjectively better than the Fulla in the YouTube review I listened to (more bass in voice), and with more power for higher end headphones as you upgrade in the future.

The Hel comes with a splitter to split the audio and mic signals, if your headset only has one plug.

I have Sennheiser PC363 connected to the headphone and mic ports on the Hel.Sennheiser HD6XX on the way, can’t wait because my PC363 sound noticeably better themselves because of the Hel.

Here is what I got to support the Hel for a most ideal configuration:

Powered USB Hub: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VDVCQ84/ I use the powered Hub to power the Hel and make sure the USB port is always receiving power, as motherboard USB ports can be finicky on power and create interference. I have the connection to the PC in a USB 3 port, and the USB for power plugged into 1 of 3 charging ports (2.1a) on the hub. Makes it clean and simple for power and connectivity. I don’t use the wall plug that comes with the Hel.

Sennheiser 1/8th to 1/4th adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L2SLLIO I opted to get this so that I had a quality adapter, needed for the 3.5mm to 6.5mm. I do not use the adapter that comes with the Hel.

Custom balanced cable for HD6XX: Ordered a custom balanced cable from hart that will terminate in 6.5mm so I won’t need an adapter for the Hel, further simplifying the setup.

Dolby Atmos (Dolby Access) I have setup Dolby Atmos as the spatial sound in Windows 10

Using Tidal for music streaming I have been using Tidal more for playing music as it has very high quality that is clearly noticeable compared to Spotify. did the “wife test” to make sure it wasn’t just me, now I have a Tidal family plan!

Hope this helps.

I was having a similar problem with my Logitech throttle and Honeycomb Yoke until I bought this powered USB hub - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VDVCQ84/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Update:

So I got these OTG Adapters which u/el1teman said worked for him. I just got them like 20 minutes ago, so we'll see how they work! Normally, I've been getting disconnects every hour now, so if I have even one disconnect with the adapters, I will report back here.

I am pairing them with this hub I've had since 2017 (the year I built my first PC).

This is what my macbook pro is recognizing my connections as. I've seen it look like this before, so nothing is new here BUT lets hope the OTG adapters work. If not, it looks like I have no other choice but to buy that Caldigit TS3 + hub, unfortunately.

I will give this 5 days. If 5 days pass and I don't have any problems, I will report back here. Otherwise, I will be reporting back here sooner if I have problems.

Have you tried it with a powered hub already and are just lloking for recommendations and have you tried it using a different computer.

Just to rule out an issue with the actual hardware.

That being said, when i needed a powered hub i used this, https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerIQ-Charging-MacBook-Surface/dp/B00VDVCQ84

There is also a smaller version: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-7-Port-Adapter-Charging-iPhone/dp/B014ZQ07NE

I use the 6-port model of this and it works great if all you're looking for is a charge, not connectivity to your PC.

If you need a PC connection, there's this hub.

Ordered this from Anker https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VDVCQ84/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . Still think this and the Sabrent are based on the same board. Plugged in and testing, starting with the charging ports. I'll want to reboot when I plug it into my computer and I'm in the middle of a lot of work. Size is quite acceptable for portable application. Power brick has a moderately standard connector for the AC side so you can get a cord for just about anywhere. So far looking good. We'll see if my weird little USB devices get along with it.

I have an Anker hub that works just fine. Also, remember that just because the port on the front of your case is USB 3 doesn't mean that it's connected to a USB 3 port on your motherboard. If your PC is name-brand, you should be OK. If you or someone built it for you, be sure to check the cabling.

I also use this cable. There are cheaper cables, but this one has the 90deg USB-C at the headset, and a USB A at the hub. It has worked flawlessly for me.

You're looking for a KVM or a USB switch.

I use this switch, combined with a USB hub like this one.

The way it works is I plug all the peripherals into the hub, and the hub goes into the input of the switch. Then the switch has two USB output ports. You run one to each computer. Then, you can click the button on the switch to toggle which computer receives the inputs.

If you have more computers, you can look for a similar device with more ports, but for just two this setup works fine. There's also switches with 2-4 USB input ports, but I have a lot of devices so having a separate hub was best for me.

Hey, if you are willing to try another, I use this one with my iPad air.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VDVCQ84/

Works really well with audio interface and synths and controllers all at once. I highly recommend an iConnectivity device if you are using your iPad as the center of studio. I can plug my usb hub into my mio4 and use all of those midi devices on an iPad and computer simultaneously.

You can definitely set stuff up no problem with what you have. All you need is switches.

First get a multi USB port for your devices. I have this Anker 10 Port 60W Data Hub. Then get a USB switch like this USB 3.0 Switch.

For your monitors they have switches for all the inputs you need. Something like this would work DVI selector switch. I’m curious if you don’t have HDMI or DD inputs as well, if you do there are switches for them too.

Once you get all those it should be relatively straightforward to set them up.

Good luck!
