I picked up a ‘Anker USB C Hub Adapter, PowerExpand+ 7-in-1 USB C Hub’
It works great with my iPadPro 11” and MacBookPro 16”.
I recommend Anker in general, they make great products all around, and have a lot of UBC C hubs and other products with Power Delivery. I’ve been using them for years for cables, batteries, and more recently some health and home products from their Eufy brand.

Edit: Here is a link to the hub I use
And here is a link to Ankers USB C hub selection

I have this one and it is great. Solid all around. I went with the "clip on" hub to try and eliminate another box from my desk. But this one is not cheap, but really solid.

I use a USB c hub by anker. It's important your USB c hub is able to relay power.

This might be the one I actually have, it's $40 https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerExpand-Delivery-Ethernet-Chromebook/dp/B07PPGWQ15/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=anker+usb+c+hub&qid=1588701914&sr=8-5

Np man. I currently use this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPGWQ15?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share on the right side and a USB-C to DP on the left side connected to an external display.

Best of Luck.

I'm using this one with mine:

Ethernet works just fine. You will have to ditch the stock power adapter and cable, I'm using a 18w PD Aukey adapter with an Aukey USB C to USB C cable.

I use this Anker USB-C hub. It has an Ethernet port, a HDMI port, two USB-A ports, as well as a USB-C input to charge the Go 2, as well. It's great, and certified to be safe, unlike those knockoffs you find elsewhere. It's on sale right now, too!

Can the usb c port be used to add a powered usb c hub? For example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPGWQ15/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WZxzFbVK3K26B. Would that allow me to add hardwired internet and external storage to this Chromecast?

This hub is compatible while also providing USB ports for a keyboard/mouse and Ethernet if you want.

sure thing I have this nice little guy : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PPGWQ15/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 works wonders. I was having issues with weak wifi signals in my bedroom so I got a Wifi extender which I plugged into the outlet and ran an ethernet cable from the extender into the adapter into the Duet. TOOK A LONG TIME to come up with that resolution to the issue. HAS BEEN FLAWLESS SINCE.

I have an order in for the new air as well and just ordered an anker hub. They have two 7-in-1 versions available, one with and Ethernet cable and one without.

Linker here is the one I purchased (I didn't need an Ethernet port) : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZVKTP53/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_7q3GEbHH8RAG1

Linked here is the one with the ethernet port: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPGWQ15/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_xt3GEbBDNRN0R

They also have one available that sits flush with the laptop. My only worry was that it wouldn't sit as flush as I wanted it to. Also with the above two options, they could be used with other computers too.

Good luck!

I think what you are looking for is a "usb c hub" . There are many between $20 to $100. I use this one

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HRHT17D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_c2HqFbY9NVEWY

It has 3x usb 3.0 ports 1x hdmi 1x ethernet and a memory card reader. $30

I have also used this one from Anker it's very good too.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPGWQ15/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_B6HqFb9WHFRG1

It has 2x usb 3.0 ports 1x hdmi 1x ethernet 1x 60 watt usb c charge port. and a memory card reader. $40

6 USB-A ports?!! Goddamn. That'll be hard to find unless it's just a USB port-only dock. Maybe you need 2 docks. One like this for non-USB requirements, and something like this for all the USB ports in the world.

Go ethernet, if you can. I use this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PPGWQ15/ with my Pixelbook.

So if it isn't too expensive, something like this? https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerExpand-Delivery-Ethernet-Chromebook/dp/B07PPGWQ15/

If you have that, you wouldn't need a USB-C DP hub, because this one has HDMI directly. Just be warned that the USB-C port on this is power input only.

I use this with the power connected, ASUS USB Monitor (gets its power from single USB C cable) and have plenty of ports available still as well!

I’m also currently looking into this, but couldnt test it since I don’t have my PC yet:

  • Mouse, keyboard, mic and headset (if all USB) connect to a USB switch as input.
  • One output of the USB switch goes to your PC.
  • The other output connects to a USB C hub (with power delivery for charging). Connect the USB C charger and HDMI cable to the hub.
  • Now connect the USB C hub to your MBP. Charger and HDMI are always connected to your laptop and you can switch mouse, keyboard etc. between your MBP and PC with the switch.

USB Switch

USB C Hub

As for the monitor: Since HDMI is connected to your MBP through your USB C hub, you can connect the DP directly with the graphics card of your PC. You should be able to switch the input from HDMI to DP or vice versa in your monitor menu.

You can't do 4k60 with PD on the 12" Macbook, but you can do 4k30 via a PD USB-C Mini Docking station or Hub.

I use an older version of this with mine: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPGWQ15

I've also used a number of other ones as well, most seem to work.

This:

And this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PPGWQ15/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_ANIHFbA2PJ0Y5

Neither would function without pd, which I don't currently have.

Good idea about the hdmi coupler

Take a look at these two Anker ones, I keep the five port one in my bags and the 7 port one velcro-command-stripped on my desk hooked up to ethernet/power/monitor/keyboard/mouse, I haven't had any issues with them (or just look for another that suits your needs): - five port - seven port

It is worth noting that the 7 port one consumes 12 watts because it is active, so you would want to get a 60W power adapter to ensure it still charges at full speed like this one.

For that budget you can’t go wrong with pretty much any 1080p IPS monitor (1080p being the resolution and IPS being the panel type).

This HP monitor seems good.

If you have an older MacBook Air with Mini DisplayPort, you’ll want an adapter like this one. You’ll know if you have one of these if your charger is magnetic and the Apple logo glows.

If you have one of the newer MacBook Airs, you’ll want an adapter like this and any HDMI cable you can find. You’ll know if you have a new one if the Apple logo is a mirror finish and your charger plugs in all the way.

What's "the highest speed"?

A quick search ("usb c ethernet power delivery") on amazon gives plenty of options starting at $20.
I'd recommend spending a little more, $35 - $40, for one of these:

Works great! Here's what I bought:

USB switch: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N6GD9JO?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

USB c hub: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07PPGWQ15?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Also bought this extension cable (since I hid the dock under the desk and figured a braided cable hanging out up top to plug into would look nicer)

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071DMMW4J?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

And lastly a cheap USB c charger (since I wanted to leave this all plugged in and still have my other one to take on the go)
