Take a look at this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087QZVQJX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_A4yPFbQ9MTQ7S
It has two USB As, a type C (you can buy a type C to type a converter for this one if you want) supports PD up to 100W (g14 only goes up to 65W though so you might want to charge from barrel plug only.) And has HDMI that supports 4K 60. If you plug monitor into this dock and not the hdmi on the laptop itself then the monitor will bypass the AMD gpu and have a direct connection to the nvidia gpu.

50$ Anker - card-reader + Ethernet + charge + USB3 (even one with USB-C connector) + half of DisplayPort 1.2 bandwidth for your laptop. (1440p 60Hz or 4K 30Hz would work)

I would bet that it is the fans in the unit. I would not know I always have head phones in or on. I would Highly recommend getting a good usb-c dock the one I use is pricey but it is a solid unit.

Other hubs like this Anker one provide 100W charging with 4K HDMI at 60 Hz (don't even think about 4K at 30 Hz) but cable is not removable so this cannot be hidden well.

This is coming slowly for me, so havent tested it out yet. But I AM looking forward to it.
I just got my Samsung AKG USB-C headphones in so I will be able to test this out for you. however its a week out with a warning about possible delays :(

I'd start with a USB-C hub from Anker. They make a large variety of products and seem to be trustworthy. Here's a link. I don't own one, but they're the only reputable brand name I've had experience with. The other dongles tend to be from generic no name brands.
If you'd like to go all out, I'd recommend the WD19TB. It's not portable by any means, but I'm using one and it seems to work very well for me.

Alright, I'll bite, even with your unproductive attitude.

HDMI is pretty easy. If you need USB-C for a monitor, plug it into the laptop. I have never seen a thin and light machine come with displayport, if you can provide an example I'll happily eat my words. We're not talking about chonky gaming machines here where the pure cooling capabilities will give the surface area for these ports, we're talking premium, thin machines like the XPS, MBP, etc. It's an entirely different class with an entirely different use-case.
-
Again, 3.5mm is available on all of the laptops stated by default. In what world do you live in where headsets are using C to C cables? I'm game, I'd just like to know to travel there. Even still, use the ports on the laptop, it's not hard. The options we've talked about include multiple.
-
The XPS line maintains a microSD card reader, so I'll make the assumption we're talking entirely about Macbooks which do not, which is fine.
And so here's a cool option. I took the liberty of subtracting one USB-A port for the sake of not wanting to waste any more time on this and grabbing the first one I saw. You can use a Bluetooth mouse, I promise.

USB-C hubs tend to be much smaller without any external power adapter and more portable. Like this: Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB C Adapter, with 100W Power Delivery, 4K 60Hz HDMI Port, 10Gbps USB C and 2 USB A Data Ports, Ethernet Port, microSD and SD Card Reader, for MacBook Pro and More https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087QZVQJX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WyjfFbGMKNZHZ
Docks tend to be bigger with more ports and external power supply. Like this: USB C Docking Station,Hiearcool 4K Triple Display 17IN1 Docking Station for Windows USB C Laptop and Thunderbolt3(2HDMI,DP Output,VGA,Gigabit Ethernet,2USB3.0,2USB2.0,100W PD) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0831BJQ3Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hAjfFbV4MCKV1

I’m using this hub. The built in Ethernet works and the USB ports work for external storage. I’m using it with a 30w power adapter that I had. The dock requires 15w for hub operation.

4k60 over hdmi as well. Very few units offer this (and actually work).

I use THIS one personally. Works great and does 4k @ 60 Hz. Only one HDMI, but you can use the installed HDMI as well. For >1 display I think you're in the $100+ price range for anything quality.

Did this last week and it all works with a usb hub I bought (Anker USB C Hub, PowerExpand... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087QZVQJX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) but it will not do 4K 60 only 4K 30.

>You can also move one monitor to HDMI on the laptop or add a 20$ USB-C to DP adapter in the 2nd USB-C port. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerExpand-Adapter-Delivery-Ethernet/dp/B087QZVQJX claims to support 10gbps USB-C and can handle charge and one monitor up to 1440p 60Hz for T480.
This would be a great alternative, but it says "make sure u have DP 1.4". Would it display my 1440p panel at 60hz? If yes then thats really what im looking for.
>https://plugable.com/products/tbt3-udz/ does claim 10Gbps though.
This is really nice, but theres no option to purchase it (no stock iguess) + looks like a pretty expensive dock lol
>If it's critical for you - I can try to probe my older TB3 docks for this in ~1 week (I have eBay-friendly 40AN, 40AC, and TB16 docks, seems like you would rather not buy a new one since you asked about TB16?)
I would love to get my hands on those TB3 docks, but my budget really isnt that high ~$150 is as much i can go, how can I find your Ebay? Btw im a bit sceptical about the TB16 dock, read a lot of comments on them only fully supporting Dell laptops. Never thought finding a dock would be this hard 😆 Btw really appreciate your extremely detail explanation,

If you mean 2560 x 1440 @ 75Hz that's not a lot of video bandwidth: 7.30 Gbit/s, easily fits the half DisplayPort bandwidth of 8.64 Gbit/s.
So yes, you can get that much on two lanes, even a HDMI 1.4 has enough bandwidth (8.16Gbit/s) and you can use the other two lanes for USB 3.0.
So basically any USB C hub w/ a HDMI port will work for you and our big challenge is finding USB C type ports on not-criminally-expensive docks. Note these will be data only. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerExpand-Adapter-Delivery-Ethernet/dp/B087QZVQJX has one. To get more USB C , you could add a Sitecom CN-386 or the Juiced VertexHUB both are expensive. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=33573 would add one for cheap but it's OOS.

Monitor is HDMI, VGA or DP?
How about this?

Best is to get WD19 sort of dock which will give you everything. I use it at work and everything is good via just one Thuderbolt port.

Though it only has 1 usb-c data port. The other usb-c is for charging.
Anyways there are lots of hubs on amazon. Just make sure you chose the one with the specs you need.
Pay attention to:
- video output: some have 4k 60hz, others 4k 30hz. (30hz is enough for movies)
- usb-c speed: if you have portable ssds that support 10gbps data transfer you might want usb 3.1 gen2 usb-c ports because Usb 3.0/3.1 gen 1 only supports upto 5gbps.
- usb-c charging port speed: No idea what charging speed your matebook 14 supports but for example the one in my link says 100w. But around 15w is used for the hub itself which leaves 85w for the the laptop.
So keep in mind that the hub uses power also so if your laptop charges with 65w and you buy a 65w hub, 15w will go to the hub leaving only 45w for the laptop.
Anyways you get what you pay for, so if you dont need the fastest speeds there are cheaper hubs out there.

what is a good hub and cable you would recommend?
i bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087QZVQJX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but doesn't work if i cannot my monitor display port to either usb-c on the hub and then my hub to usb-c on left side of the g14. HDMI from the monitor to HDMI on laptop to hdmi on the hub does work, but as you said, that would limit me to just the radeon card.
1 points • KaraokeGod
I’ll push back on the commenters saying you need TB3; 4K 60Hz requires that the hub support DP 1.4 which is pretty rare right now, but some exist. I just ordered this hub from Anker which fits all your requirements except it has HDMI instead of DP. The middling reviews is a little worrying but mine comes in tomorrow so I’ll let you know how it goes if you’re interested.
The Juiced Novahub is another alternative with similar specs.

Anker should work, yeah https://ibb.co/pZMCnR6
tested both options https://ibb.co/NVvP96D (CableMatters) and https://ibb.co/pZMCnR6 (Anker) on T480s with dual HDMI 1080p 60Hz, seem to work just fine. if one HDMI out is enough even more cheaper options are available, look through cable matter and similar docks from the bigmessofwires link I posted in the beginning (2 lanes for video is enough to handle up to single WQHD, let alone 1080p). but Anker definitely feels nicer built + USB3 + card reader... pretty good for what it costs. there is a variation of the Anker dock with only one HDMI and extra USB-C 10Gbps port - https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerExpand-Adapter-Delivery-Ethernet/dp/B087QZVQJX (since you seem to want to go with 2 connector to laptop approach anyway to avoid buying another HDMI->DVI-D, note it won't allow to plug your other USB-C->DVI-D adapter to it directly anyway unless it's DisplayLink, suggesting because can be useful in case you will get some USB-C flash drive or something later and want to leave it plugged to the dock)

Oh I suppose a webcam is useful as well as no one is present by default. You can search for Windows Hello compatible webcams but I could live without Windows Hello and liked the slider to hide the webcam lens on this model (aka the Privacy Cover) as well as a few other aspects such as 1080p over 720p so I got the following
