Get an Anker on Amazon. Works perfectly fine at a fraction of the cost.

I believe sidequest has WiFi capabilities in beta that might work, but if you have a decent gaming pc and plan to go the oculus link route then anker makes a decent cable. Just wish it was longer. It’s usb 3.0 to usb c. I don’t believe anything below usb 3.0 works but you should check the reviews to be sure.

Just what is required for VR. The only "Oculus link" requirements is having a USB 3.0 cable. I'd recommend this one if you don't already have a USB 3.0 cable.

One of the proven alternatives to the Oculus Link Cable.

This one cost less than a quarter the price of the official cable for example:

Link with extension cable not working.

While using this extension cord and this link cable, I can't get link to work. When plugging the link cable directly into my pc, it works fine. However, plugging it directly into my pc kills my length and seriously dampens my experience. I've used this extension cord for my rift for months before getting a quest with no issues, any help?

I have the 10ft one that I especially like, as well as a couple of six and three foot cables. They used to have a pack with five cables (6ft, 3x3ft, and a 4" cable) but annoyingly, they don't sell it anymore. :(

Aukey is another good one, if you can't find what you're looking for from Anker.

This cable works, I use it to plug my Quest into my MacBook (which doesn't have a USB-C port). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E9W8KYC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00

>Certainly there has to be a cheaper option right? It's just a USB C to USB C 3.0 cable correct?

That is mostly correct. Utilize only USB 3.1 Gen 1 cables rated for 5Gb/s. Beware older USB 3.0 cables are only rated for 480Mb/s and will not work. Anker cables are the recommended brand from Oculus.

The issue with current cables is getting any decent length with 5Gb/s bandwidth capability. You won't find anything beyond 6ft. What Oculus did to rectify this was to build a fiber optic cable and the reason why it's so dam expensive. But anyone can also rectify it by adding an active extension cable to your Link cable to extend it beyond the limitation. These are the cables I used before getting my Oculus Link and they work great. Now I have a pair sitting around doing nothing. :(

Looks like their stock was hit really hard with Corona and for me at least says it won't be in stock until April 30th My backup suggestion is this cable with any ACTIVE usb3.1 extender: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E9W8KYC/ref=vp_m_ac_sub_lr_pd?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01E9W8KYC&pd_rd_w=nYZAH&pf_rd_p=7ac3b613-6720-4591-a353-2848b1670c23&pf_rd_r=6043623c-84f4-4379-9989-ec43fe109aa1&pd_rd_r=6043623c-84f4-4379-9989-ec43fe109aa1&pd_rd_wg=SKSif

I use a 6 foot anker cable (sometimes 10 foot but its not needed most of the time: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E9W8KYC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and an active USB3 extension cable that adds another 16 feet: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0179MXKU8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the anker cable comes with a velcro strap, i just velcro the cable to the side strap of the headset with some slack for the port, and boom, good to go.

I have been using a windows mixed reality headset for years, so having cables has always been something I have been used to. For a more untethered experience i would consider the 10 foot cable, because 6 foot sometimes makes it so the extension is off the ground and its a little heavy, so adding 4 feet of slack so the link cable can reach the ground before plugging into the extension may make it better for you

Hey mate, sorry it’s taken me a while to reply!

I’ve got a better than average processor, but I was having issues early on due to the cable I was using. I was getting frequent disconnects as the USB 3 cable wasn’t powerful enough.

Here is what I’m using now:

USB 3: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01E9W8KYC?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Connected to this extension: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0179MXKU8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

If I were to guess, it wouldn’t be a processor problem, rather a weak signal to and from your computer. The above two leads are a tad on the pricey side. What you could do is buy the 2m lead, see if that fixes your issue, and then go for the extension cable.

This is just me assuming you don’t have either the official cable, or tested 3m Anker one. Best of luck!

I have a Quest 1 and I love it, but to be honest I can't recommend the Quest 1 over the 2, the 2 it's just way too good. But well, if you want to use it mainly for Link (PCVR) it could be a good option (I use it for both). Just try to go for a Quest 2 and if it's imposible just go for the 1, it's technically obsolete but it's still a really good VR headset.

Also for PCVR I really recommend the 2 m Anker cable + 5 m CableCreation extention, it's 7 m, the quality is really good and it's way cheaper than the official Link cable, here are the links for you to check it out:

- Anker 2m cable

- CableCreation 5m extention

I purchased these two items (and a 90° cable adapter and some cable clips for the headset to route the cable, but those aren't really necessary) for about $30. Been working great for m!

Yes.

However, THE QUALITY OF THE CABLE IS REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT.

I cannot tell you how much I struggled with thesecables when they were harder to come by. Bad ones will burn themselves out before long. https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-Powerline-Pull-up-Resistor/dp/B01E9W8KYC?th=1

Is the recommended cable. This cable is fantastic; I no longer use link, but I am using this cable for my audio interface which is also c to a.

Every 3.0 usb c to a should be 5gbps NOT 5GB/s; these are different.

Note that there are different grades of cable and they can be identified by the stupid 'speed' brainding. Superspeed = 5gbps. Superspeed+ = 10gbps. There are not really any A to C cables capable of superspeed+. The onesided contacts deny the full bandwidth and limit it as a rule.
If it does not say superspeed, do not buy.

Link pushes so much data, if you start having problems, expect a cheaper cable to get fried. I had several fail. This anker one is great, though, and I thought the first one I got did; they replaced it p willingly, so they have really good customer support, and I am not one to say that often. They want a good review in exchange so I guess it wasn't free, but hey, fast replacement without needing to return is a good review in my book, especially since it worked great and was my error.

It would but the problem is your sacrificing visual quality. I’d actually suggest getting this https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-Powerline-Pull-up-Resistor/dp/B01E9W8KYC/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=anker+powerline+oculus+link&qid=1597274249&sprefix=anker+powerline+oc&sr=8-3

And also this https://www.amazon.com/CableCreation-Extension-Extender-Booster-Compatible/dp/B0179MXKU8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=cable+creations+usb+3.0+extension&qid=1597274312&sprefix=cable+crea&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzNERFREVYUTZSVDVXJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDI4MzEzMUxHNVBPVUYwUkFMSyZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzcyMjU4MVVSN1pQNVVURkxJNyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX3Bob25lX3NlYXJjaF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

This effectively gives you 22 ft of cord so plenty of space to move around compared to the charging cables 10 ft, as well as being usb 3.0 for better quality and only being $30 in total

Hey there!

Yes, the 1660 Super is supported for Oculus Link. You can find the full list for Oculus Link compatibility here.

We recommend the Anker cable as an alternative for Oculus Link - they have USB-A to USB-C cables as an option as well. Here's an example (US)

Thanks!

I know this is kinda unrelated to what your asking, but if you're looking for a third party solution, using the recommended anker cable (i got the 6ft one) along with this cable creations active extension has worked incredibly well for me, while only costing \~30 dollars, and being around 6-7 meters. Others mileage may vary, but I have seen this has worked for many many other people and seems to be a very good solution. I'd probably trust it more than a generic from Aliexpress considering Anker and CableCreation are pretty good brands.

You have to have the oculus desktop app installed, then use a supported link cable. You have several options, but the 2 main ones are the ANKER Powerline and Official Link Cable. The Anker is cheaper and delivers similar performance, but it is shorter and less flexible than the official link cable.

Anker powerline - 10-20$ (10$ for the barely usable 3 foot version)

Official Link Cable - 80$

The recommended ones have a 56k Ohm resistor inline, but I think that only affects charging and not data but I'm not sure.

https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/abpe7w/can_i_use_any_usb_c_to_charge_my_switch/

If you hit up Amazon and search "switch usb-c" you'll find compatible ones, and they won't be any more than a regular USB-C to USB-A cable. Anker or Aukey are good brands.
