$40??? Are you sure?

I remember that that was setup in case of future updates, but most cable companies have that Ethernet port on a cable box disabled so you can’t plug it in and get internet.
You can use something like this.
AmazonBasics Ethernet Internet Adapter

Firstly: Please get an ethernet adapter; that's the primary reason you have so much input delay. The difference really is night and day, particularly if your internet isn't really fast to begin with. This one is $19 on Amazon. I have it and it's wonderful.
A different controller won't make the online experience better, but it will be much easier to play the game. Most people use either an analog gamecube controller with an adapter, or a USB plug-in controller with the gamecube layout. A pro controller would work fine as well, but I'd recommend something in the gamecube layout; it was literally designed for smash bros.
As for getting salty: most people get salty when they care about winning and then lose, particularly if they lost for reasons outside their control. To counteract this, focus on what you can do. Since you're still relatively inexperienced with the game, just try to learn and get better when you play. GSP is just as easy to gain as it is to lose, so don't worry if you lose for a BS reason. But again, an ethernet adapter and a better controller will massively improve your online experience - especially that ethernet.

If you want the VM to have LAN/Internet access that is 'independent' of the host hardware, you'll need to provide network hardware that is not under the control of the host.
What i have done in the past is to use one of these and modify the vm's config file so that this network adapter is immediately connected to the VM and only the VM on startup. It would be essentially invisible to the host while the VM is running.
The first link in my first reply goes over the details of how to setup auto-connecting a USB device on boot.. In my setup i used a wired ethernet adapter, but if you know of a USB wifi adapter that is compatible with the Kali build you're using, you should be able to do the same with that adapter..
When configuring the VM's virtual hardware, you would NOT have any 'network adapters' assigned or configured, so the screen shot you've sent would not available or relevant for this configuration.

I just use this one, but honestly if those 2 don’t work it might be a problem with your switch? I don’t see why they wouldn’t work

No dock - the monitor has direct USB-C hookup and built-in USB hub - Ethernet is through an AmazonBasics USB 3.0 adapter plugged into the back of the monitor, as are the KB/Mouse dongles. The monitor feeds power back through the USB-C connection.

I currently am using a Nest Wifi Mesh System (1 router and 2 access points) and currently play using WiFi. Due to my room being on the second floor and my router being on the 1st floor, I can't run an ethernet cable to my Switch. I could drill holes and run cable through that method, but for now WiFi will do (I have one access point in my room/2nd floor). I used to use an ethernet adapter at my old home (contained only 1 floor/level) and had never came across any issues when using it at the time (had it connected to a Netgear router at the time). Link to ethernet adapter: (https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00M77HMU0/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=ethernet+amazon+adapter&qid=1602635734&sr=8-4). The Switch internet speed test usually caps out around 30mbps-45mbps. Though I've seen a few post (rarely, if any) with people reaching speeds of 60mbps+ (highest I've seen was near 120mbps), but I'm not sure what adjustments they end up making. The ethernet adapter should be able to provide a higher download speed, but don't expect a drastic difference (in speed). The connection should become more stable (which might be what you're seeking). Another tip I'd like to add would possibly changing the MTU size (when changing settings in a network via the Switch console) to 1500. You could also try testing out different DNS settings (i.e. Google's DNS, Cloudflare DNS). I currently use Cloudflare's DNS settings and run with little to no issues (seems to be pretty stable).
Edit: Try the last two recommended tips before purchasing the adapter. Sometimes adjusting these settings is what does the trick (possibly save some money as well).

You can purchase a USB to Ethernet Adapter such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00M77HMU0/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1DFCMZSZTCVVA&dchild=1&keywords=usb+ethernet+adapter&qid=1588177511&sprefix=USB+Ether%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-1
Or you can get one with more USB ports, such as this one: https://www.amazon.com/TeckNet-Aluminum-Converter-Ultrabooks-Notebooks/dp/B0178HOTOU/ref=sxts_b2b_sx_reorder?crid=1DFCMZSZTCVVA&cv_ct_cx=usb+ethernet+adapter&dchild=1&keywords=usb+ethernet+adapter&pd_rd_i=B0178HOTOU&pd_rd_r=ad70e371-510a-49be-9df9-d43d33fe5a13&pd_rd_w=920gY&pd_rd_wg=kDRuN&pf_rd_p=c8578112-5367-4af9-b0d7-8ea3833d7167&pf_rd_r=E6WJ39NY9BM9TCJ6SBS0&qid=1588177511&sprefix=USB+Ether%2Caps%2C167&sr=1-1-f5ebfd8e-82c1-4b4e-97d5-2aa47aa18b69

The only way this is possible is if you have a TON of devices and a relatively old and/or low-end router. So, it's possible, but it's likely something else, and if it is this, there are things you should fix first (even if moving to z-wave and zigbee is a good idea).
Here's how you should test:
- Compare you speed test results across more than one device (to rule out a specific phone/laptop/etc being the issue.
- Plug a computer directly into the model (unplug the router if needed) and run a speed test from there. If you don't have an ethernet port, but have a laptop, get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00M77HMU0/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=usb+ethernet&qid=1588904131&sr=8-5Get any model you want...but make sure it has gigabit support (usually annotate like 10/100/1000 - NOT just 10/100)
- Plug your computer directly in to the router and run a speed test.
If only test #2 (modem) is WAY faster (it will likely be a little faster, even if all is well), then upgrade your router.
If tests #2 and #3 are both a lot faster than #1, then it's likely the issue is wireless related - which could be router related, but could also be your devices (older protocol support perhaps) or something like major RFI (radio-frequency interference).
If they're all similarly slow, then it's your modem or your ISP. Call your ISP and explain the speeds you're getting connecting directly to the modem.

Those USB to ethernet adapters are totally reliable. When I was consulting, I used this one to connect my Surface to a wired network. Get a switch like this one. Connect it via a long ethernet cable to the port on the back of your comcast modem/router. Put it in a central location and connect long ethernet cables to the usb ethernet adapters that plug into your laptops. This is the easiest method and doesn't involve messing around with your comcast modem/router.

I assigned static IP addresses to both pis and am using a python socket library to do TCP connection between both. If I connect 1 ethernet cable between the 2 pi's it works, I am wondering if it will simply be plug and play with a network switch? I do not currently have one to test, I have to order one.

Do you think using the built in ethernet port plus this would work instead of a switch? https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00M77HMU0

Have you considered getting a USB to Ethernet adapter?
https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00M77HMU0
I'm not aware of any Synology units that allow for connectivity via USB. I believe the USB ports are for connecting to other external storage devices.

It has to be the same chipset as the official one, so you can use third party ones such as the ugreen and Amazon Basics adapters
I would just check and make sure others were able to use the adapter on their Switch. Not all third-Party adapter will work

That "device" is just an RJ-45 jack, and it may or may not be connected to anything. If you can find another one near your router, they might be connected and might work out for this. There also might be a patch panel in one of your closets with similar jacks. Are you renting your place? If so, maybe your landlord knows where that jack goes.
Essentially, you need to get an Ethernet cable. Amazon and Monoprice are both good places to find them right now, and it really doesn't matter which one you get as long as it's Cat5e or better(Cat6 would work) and long enough to reach from your computer to your router. ~~I can't tell if your computer also has an Ethernet jack in it, but if it doesn't then you can get a cheap USB to ethernet adapter like this: https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-1000-Gigabit-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B00M77HMU0/ref=sr_1_3~~
Edit: Just looked up your computer, and it has a built in 100mbit network card, so you don't need the USB one.

If you can figure out how your place is wired, you can possibly use that device to avoid running a long cable between rooms, otherwise, you'll just have to run your own. Make sure the cable you get is long enough to reach, especially if you want to run it along your walls and avoid creating a tripping hazard.

The cable won't matter for gigabit speed as the official Firesstick Ethernet adapter is only rated for fast Ethernet, not gigabit. If you want to get a gigabit Ethernet connected you will need an adapter with the ASIX AX88179 chipset. Amazon's own USB 3.0 to Gigabit adapter for example. You'll need a micro USB OTG cable as well.
