Acer Nitro XZ342CK: Link
Sort of came out of nowhere and pretty quietly. Figured I'd try it at that price and with Amazon's relaxed return policy. I'm really happy with it. It's not as bright as my TN monitor (which is now my 2nd monitor), but the colors and contrast noticeably better, viewing angles tend to be an issue with VAs but aren't really a problem if you're in front of it since it's curved, and even though it's not officially G-Sync Compatible, it totally is.
I'm not a pro when it comes to monitors by any means, but I can say that I went through a couple of monitors and returned them before landing on and deciding to stick with this one.

It’s on sale for $440 right now too! I just paid $500 three days ago so I’ll be inquiring about a refund tomorrow

>Acer XG270HU omidpx 27-inch WQHD AMD FREESYNC
This doesn't seem like a bad upgrade, considering it's half the price as LG and the reviews about it seem good too. Good luck!

For anyone curious, that's a 34" 1500r Acer Nitro XZ342CK. Absolutely loving this monitor so far!

Yes it is 144hz ultra wide. It’s this one right here. Very good deal for the money

I found this one on Amazon the other day and it looks newly listed. It checked a lot of my boxes so I ordered it and plan to just return it if I don't like it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08BW3XS12/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_XBauFbXJXDH5J

Just received mine last night and I already put a request in to return it. I am coming from a Microboard 340CLZ that is on it's way out (I think the driver board is going bad).
The color is decent for the monitor, but the lack of brightness really affects the over all image. I get massive vignetting along both sides, enough that at least 15% of the screen on both sides is significantly more grey toned and less bright than the center. This is very distracting and ends up hurting my eyes. Granted I think this comes from the distance to the monitor, though I sit at least 30" away from the screen. If I sit back further the vignetting is less noticeable, but the image still feels distorted. This also feels like a really bad IPS panel as anything being displayed towards the edges appear to be "floating" relative to content further away from the edge, it is very distracting. I also had three other people use it and they had similar complaints.
The HDR on the monitor is useless without more brightness, and ends up making colors feel washed out.
Refresh rate and response time are great, as to be expected, but don't make up for the downfalls of this monitor.
Maybe I have just been spoiled with the curved screen, but I would say this monitor is unusable for my uses, which are mainly programming, writing, remote school, and media consumption.
For this size monitor I think having the curve is absolutely necessary. I am getting the Acer Nitro XZ432CK as a replacement. It is a curved VA panel with the same response time and refresh rate, with a little worse color space and no usb. But like I said I really think the curve is necessary for a screen this big. I should be getting the new monitor on Sunday and I can respond with an update on my opinions of it if anyone is interested.
Good luck, I hope whatever monitor you decide on works for what you need.

How does this compare to the Acer Nitro XZ342CK Pbmiiphx?

Only difference is response time. I almost got the $400 one that was recommended to me by my friend but then I found the Acer one and opted for that.

I would go with 3200mhz ram since its intel and soeed doesn't really matter, and tbh you could even go lower with the speed and it wouldn't make a difference. Second, I think you should go with a different case, like one with a mesh front panel such as the Lian Li Lancool Mesh, or the Phanteks Eclipse P500A/P400A/P300A for better thermals, then for a monitor the Gigabyte G34WQC is good or the Acer Nitro XZ342CK Pbmiiphx is slightly better but costs more too, and if you want G-Sync then you'll have to go with a smaller size screen

Update:
Never moved out of backorder, and I read a number of reviews critical of the QC, so I cancelled the backorder for the Gigabyte and instead got this: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XZ342CK-Pbmiiphx-Certified-DisplayHDR400/dp/B08BW3XS12
Shows "out for delivery" right now. I'm even more on the side of "return the AOC" now. It's not the flickering that bothers me so much, but rather the fact that the screen completely shuts off for about 2 seconds frequently when the gsync range drops too low.

Not 120hz (100), but under $500 This Samsung is legit.
144hz and right at $500 This Acer is legit.

I'm in the same boat as you: browsing Black Friday deals looking for an ultrawide for near $500. I just made a post on this sub, and these are the ones I'm looking at from my post:
-====-
MSI Optix MAG341CQ for $380 which seems like a solid choice if not a bit simple.
Nixeus NX-EDG34S for $420. This one is on sale for $180 off and is 144Hz
Acer Nitro XZ342CK for $500. While it's not on sale, it looks like a solid 144Hz monitor with lots of reviews
SAMSUNG LC34J791WTNXZA for $550. This one is a good sale. It comes with extra feature like usb-c and is QLED. I don't even know if QLED is worth it though.
-====-
I haven't decided on one yet, but I at least hope this can give you some more options.

I'm looking for the exact same thing right now, I've never owned an ultrawide either.
I'm looking for a monitor with the following:
-
34 inch
-
120-144hz
-
3400x1440
-
VA panel for better contrast ratio
-
300-500ish USD
-
G-sync certified if possible, otherwise Freesync
I've heard that HDR is hit or miss on monitors in my price range so I've given up making it a priority.
I've been researching myself insane and gotten pretty overwhelmed too, I'm going to drop some links to the monitors that meet my expectations to help myself narrow it down, maybe it will be helpful to you as well.
Monoprice - Dark Matter 34inch - Checks all my boxes but has negative reviews about dead pixels and ghosting. 1500r curve. Mostly positive reviews in general. $100 off on Monoprice for now, but out of stock.
Nixeus - EDG 34inch - More expensive (not on sale), similar negative reviews to the Dark Matter. Mostly positive reviews. 1500r curve.
Sceptre - 34inch Only 100hz maximum, surprisingly cheap at $380. 1800r curve instead of 1500r like the previous two.
Acer - Nitro 34inch - $500 VA panel with 1500r curve and 144hz. This seems to check all my boxes as well but I haven't read any reviews about quality yet.
AOC - 34inch - I just discovered this one as well. It has nearly 12k reviews on Amazon but it nearly out of my price range at $577.
