Audio Help w/ Xbox Series X + Gaming Monitor

Hey all, thanks in advance for any help you can give me...

So I just upgraded from a 1080p TV to a Asus Gaming monitor for the Series X — and I'm trying to set up my audio from Xbox to speakers that I have...and running into some trouble...

The red/white RCA (speakers) to 3.5mm headphone jack (plugs directly into the monitor) works just ok, but it's not really that loud. Like, if the speakers go up to 10 — the max audio I can get is 4. (and yes, the monitor volume is turned all the way up).

Any idea what the issue could be? Or any suggestions for a better setup? I've read a bit about an HDMI extractor would work better...any suggestions on what would be a good fit for my setup? The monitor I have runs 1440p/120hz & 4K/60hz — is there any HDMI extractor that could keep up?

Thanks again...

Hey guys -- quick question: what monitor should I get for netplay usage? I know a few people have recommended the benq monitors but how much does it matter as long as it supports 120hz?

I was thinking about doing something a bit fancier (e.g. 27-inch, higher than 1080p resolutions) like this since I'd want to use it as a general productivity/gaming monitor and not just for netplay. but i'd buy the benq if that's by far the best option.

This is one from Amazon that I was looking at. Looks like it’s in your price range. Idk how close he sits to his monitor, but I think 27” is kind of the sweet spot for gaming. It’s plenty big enough for when I work from home as well

How's Pixio as a brand? I haven't heard of them before.

Another solid buy is the Asus TUF. It's actually very comptetively priced and 1440p 165hz. It is VA which has it's advantages and disadvantages vs IPS

Is this a good choice for the Series S? If not, does anyone have suggestions under or around $400?

To list a few. Reference reviews for particulars. But this short list should help get you started. Good luck!

Samsung G5

Gigabyte G27QC

Asus TUF VG27WQ1B

If you're willing to dip into the mid 300s take a look at LG. Some of the best panels out there.

Do all of the monitors these days have some sort of green compliance and all?

Yeah I should find a way to ditch my other monitor too (1080p Samsung 24")

Thinking of getting this one: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VG27WQ1B-Supports-Adaptive-sync-DisplayPort/dp/B088MKHW7M/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=1440p+120hz+monitor&qid=1608530421&sr=8-2

I guess that is fair. But I doubt it will not suffer massive fps drops at 1440p since 1080p60 gets massive fps drops on the series x.

However if you would like to go that route I did find this, this, and this which are 1440p 144hz 1ms. Each have their own little features such as free/adaptive sync, eyecare, low motion blur, etc. and they all range from $349 to $379.

Also, recommend avoiding curved monitors without reviews because they are known to overheat to the point that the back panel comes off. Happened to my Samsung curved tv... so definitely be weary of lesser known brands.

Take with a grain of salt, I'm not exactly a monitor expert. Spent a few minutes looking and checking reviews. The HP seems to be well liked, the ASUS may be concerning or may just be internet complaining. In a pinch I'd lean the HP route between these two, just me though.

Hi All,

I am planning on buying a new monitor to keep up with the new Xbox Series X and a new PC down the road. If I am going to be spending this kind of money on a monitor, I want to make sure I get some input.

I have never used curved, but from all the feedback I have read, I think it's the right fit for me. As for size, I am not too sure which would be better.

1080 vs 1440? I am not sure what the major difference is

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know!

Option 1 - ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B 31.5” Curved Monitor, WQHD (2560 x 1440), 165Hz (Supports 144Hz), 1ms, FreeSync Premium/Adaptive-sync, Extreme Low Motion Blur, HDR10, HDMI DisplayPort

Option 2 - ASUS TUF Gaming VG27WQ1B 27” Curved Monitor, 1440P WQHD (2560 x 1440), 165Hz (Supports 144Hz), 1ms, Adaptive-sync/FreeSync Premium, Extreme Low Motion Blur, Eye Care, HDMI DisplayPort, HDR10

Option 3 - GIGABYTE G27QC 27" 165Hz 1440P Curved Gaming Monitor, 2560 x 1440 VA 1500R Display, 1ms (MPRT) Response Time, 92% DCI-P3, HDR Ready, FreeSync Premium, 1x Display Port 1.4

Option 4 - MSI Full HD Gaming Red LED Non-Glare Super Narrow Bezel 1ms 1920 x 1080 165Hz Refresh Rate Free Sync 32” Curved Gaming Monitor (Optix AG32C), Black

Thank you in advance!

hey man, sorry for the dumb question, but I just bought a pc with a 3080 + a ryzen CPU, etc.

Based on what I'm seeing, does it make the most sense to get a 1440p monitor instead of a 4k monitor? I think the 4k monitor can still play games in 1080p but...not totally sure. It seems like 4k gaming is not really that achievable with the 3080, especially for a game like Cyberpunk. I do like shooters as well and I think I heard 1440p might be better for those types of games anyway.

Again, bit of a noob here, just trying to figure out what monitor is actually a good option. Was looking at these two:

Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

Hi, I've decided to get a second curved monitor so that I'm able to have programs open while I have games open.

I currently have the MSI MAG271CQR 27" Curved VA | 1440p | 144hz | FreeSync Monitor and this is my build, although I do plan on getting an RTX 3080.

It seems to be that 165hz is the new standard refresh rate for 1440p monitors as well as some form of HDR10 or HDR400. I definitely need the monitor to be 27" Curved 1440p but my main concerns are picture/color quality and nits brightness. The new monitor will become my primary gaming monitor and my current monitor will be used for other applications. I also would like to add that I'm not very interested in an ultrawide but all advice welcomed!

So far I've found these but still don't know which one to go with:

MSI MAG272CQR (27" Curved VA |1440p |165hz | 1ms | HDR10)

Gigabyte AORUS CV27Q (27" Curved VA| 1440p | 165hz | 1ms | HDR400)

ASUS TUF VG27WQ1B (27" Curved VA | 1440p | 165hz | 1ms |HDR10)

ViewSonic ELITE XG270QC (27" Curved VA | 1440p | 165hz | 1ms | VESA DisplayHDR400)

Acer EI272UR (27" Curved VA | 1440p | 144hz | 1ms | VESA DisplayHDR400)

AOC AGON AG273QCX (27" Curved VA | 1440p | 144hz | 1ms | VESA DisplayHDR400)
