Idk if its just me but the asus zenbook series has some powerful options that arent considered "gaming" like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0869JVMLY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_9akRFb20C9VQR

I bought a zenbook 15 a couple weeks ago and it runs like a charm and I highly recommend. It comes with 1 year of drop protection. Here is a link for a cheaper version. https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-i7-10510U-ScreenPad-Compatible-UX534FTC-AS77/dp/B0869JVMLY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=asus+zenbook&qid=1597335374&sr=8-3 Hope this helps. Also the only differences from the one above are this one has a 4K screen less storage different color and cheaper

Finally, how does it stack up to this one?. The gpu is a minor downgrade, but it's got higher ram and a 4k display.

Out of these I think the vivobook will suit you the best. A 128gb ssd is kind of laughably small, but your school may have a plan with dropbox or OneDrive where you can store your school files. You may be able to upgrade this in the future.. 512gb ssds run around $50 right now if you get one on sale.

I would stay away from the PE60 just because the components are out of date by a few years compared to the other laptops. You could probably spend your money better than buying that. For architecture tasks you're really going to want at least 4 cores so the ideapad is a poor choice as well. The Strix laptop would be fine but you will get better performance out of the i78550u in the vivobook. I think the gtx 1050 might be a better gpu, but the mx130 should perform alright - I know people in my program have gotten by fine with similar gpus.

It looks like the Strix laptop is retailing from $1000-$1300, is this your budget? If so maybe check out this laptop (ASUS UX534FTC-AS77 if the link doesn't work, $1,199 USD on amazon). Much better specs than the ones you have posted about, so you will probably be a lot happier with this if you can afford to pay for it! Good luck on your laptop search.

If you're referring to the ASUS Zenbook 15 on Amazon, I think that it is generally a good choice but it has a weaker CPU and shorter battery life because of the 4K display.

Yes, at around 50% brightness and light use (web browsing).

I don't think the latitudes are a good deal, because you can get much better laptops that are basically better in every aspect, and cheaper such as this one. (no win 10 pro tho) or you could get a asus g14 for pretty cheap too.

Help me with my final decision: ASUS Zenbook 15 (i7-10510U/GTX 1650 Max-Q) Vs. Razer Blade 15 (i7-9750H/GTX 1660 Ti) for work and light gaming (VRChat and video game emualtion)

BUDGET: ~$1,300 USD. (Willing to pay a bit more if it’s worth it).

THE LAPTOPS, SPECS AND PRICES:

  • ASUS ZenBook 15 Laptop, 15.6” UHD 4K NanoEdge Display, Intel Core i7-10510U, GeForce GTX 1650, 16GB, 512GB PCIe SSD, ScreenPad 2.0, Amazon Alexa Compatible, Windows 10, Icicle Silver, UX534FTC-AS77

-Price: $1,199

  • Razer Blade 15 Gaming Laptop: Intel Core i7-9750H 6 Core, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 15.6" FHD 144Hz, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, CNC Aluminum, Chroma RGB Lighting, Thunderbolt 3

-Price: $1,099

The qualities that I’m looking for:

  • WORK: I’m going to be using the laptop mostly for college work and other educational work such as learning languages, and doing amateur digital art.

  • DISPLAY: I want the laptop to be color, vibrant, and have the best display as possible. Ideally for watching movies, video editing and amateur digital art.

  • GAMING: I want the laptop to run VRChat and a few video game emulators (Arcade, N64, PS1, GCN, PS3, Wii) smoothly, medium to high settings.

  • BATTERY: I want it to last at least 5 hours, while web browsing and watching videos. And 1.5 to 3 hours while gaming if possible. (I’m well aware the the Zenbook lasts around 9 hours while web browsing but I don’t know how much it lasts

  • THERMALS: I want it to have decent thermal levels when performing any heavy duty tasks, such as content creation software, and gaming.

  • DURABILITY: Ideally, it would be good if it could last 3.5 years to 5 years.

I’m open to any other laptop recommendations, and other advices. Thank you very much for helping me with my decision!

Hey, I respect your upfront attitude about this -- much respect for you, man. I found this ASUS Zenbook 15.6". It's surprisingly cheap for the specs (just thought I should throw that in there) in case you want to run games on it or something. It's a pretty good 4K display, which I've heard looks pretty good but a bit dim.

Another option is this older but still powerful and capable model of the Dell XPS 13. It's got less RAM and SSD than the Zenbook but has a better, brighter screen that has touch capability, which probably suits your needs better.

There's a 2-in-1 option of this laptop out there that flips into a tablet, but it's refurbished. The 2-in-1 has the same specs as the Zenbook and probably is going to be the best option for you if you don't mind the fact that it's a refurb.

I hope this helped, and good luck to you, man! Feel free to ask me any questions.

both are great. i had the zenbook 13 and it was my favourite. lite and i pushed it a lot with ableton i used buchla vst on it. and worked with photoshop and touchdesigner. plus the prices on the 14 are excellent for the buck. nicely thin and the colours look naisu. some do offer 1050 ti and i believe 1650/ti some have mx which are the budget options. the trackpad variants are cool. as for the legions. i personally dont own one. but a legion 5 with ryzen 5 is excellent those apus are great for editing softwares and multitasking. checking the customizations. you can add more storage (128gb is too small) i'd add 1tb at least. but if you wanna remain to your budget perhaps 40 more for 300 nits screen is a better option. though 250 nits with 120hz is not so bad but i wouldn't be too sure. between those two if you strictly just want editing softwares go for the zenbook 14 (with this config or this 15 one the used one from amazon warehouse is 1015.56) ryzen models are cheaper. but check videos on youtube on them. based on the specs you're curious about.

yeah.... choosing laptops isn't easy. lol honestly there are so many great options. but it depends on the budget. and the 15 i linked you is amazing. dont know its used condition though. honestly zenbook14 with a Ryzen 7 4700U can't go wrong. but a better gpu can bring benefits.

On the higher end you could consider something like a Acer Nitro 5. It's specs are damn powerful with a 9th gen i7 processor, 16GB ram, and an RTX 2060 GPU. It also ha a 144Hz display and decent cooling. An RTX 2060 may be way overkill though if you're not doing too intense of 3D rendering. The storage is also upgradable.

For a cheaper and more sleek laptop you could consider the Aspire 7. It's more muted yet still powerful with a 45W i5 processor and a still powerful GTX 1650. You may want to look into adding another 8GB stick of ram though. There's also the Zenbook 15 as an even more portable version but it has a weaker U-series processor.

I am also facing the same issue. I have collected a few that interest me below. These laptops are the top of your price range and they are available in U.S. (Im not sure if they are available and/or if they have different prices in Canada). These laptops are thin, powerful, have decent battery life, decent cooling, and decent build.
