I just bought one of these a few days ago and it arrived today. Looks totally new even though I bought it used on Amazon. There's another one for the same price as this if you prefer to use Amazon.

Why would someone buy this over say the Asus TUF X570? It's much cheaper, and has many of the same features as the MSI board.

Yes x570 Tomahawk has WIFI. If you want pure value/deal I posted another blurb in a comment that might be relevant to you, another good board with WIFI:

> From my research if you won't need quite so much power delivery to CPU or some of the extra features and want to save ~40 to ~70 bucks the Asus TUF Gaming x570-Plus has also been highly reviewed compared to others in its class. Amazon has Open Box/Renewed listings for about ~$150 if you're looking for a deal. > > https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-TUF-X570-Plus-Motherboard-Lighting/dp/B07SXF8GY3

2070 Super is a great card, and the Meshify C is a great case. You'll have a nice gaming rig. I recommend a gold-rated power supply, maybe 550w or 650w if you're not planning to upgrade for a while. Holler if you want any amateur advice I've been soaked in computer building research for the past few months lol.

Question for people in this thread: why not go with Asus AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus (Wi-Fi) ATX for $188? Cheaper, well reviewed, similar features, and x570. Honestly curious.

Aye, amazom got a couple used ones on their site listed for $134.99 and $146.16, I'm not gonna lie I trust amazon used parts as you can always return them and I've never had one show up that didn't work. The $134 lands close to the budget mark.

Get one with built in wifi. I am linking a great board for the price. And with that case, it will fit a full atx board

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SXF8GY3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4tiKFbGTQGFVK

Cause you'll spend $30 on a decent wifi card, so spend an extra $40 to get it built in is a good deal to me.

You're going to rest through that 500gb fast too. Maybe think about getting 1tb or a cheap hdd for more storage

But other than that, the built looks great!

I made the mistake of picking a cheaper motherboard for my 3900x (albeit, before I purchased anything, thankfully)

Cheaper motherboards almost always have cheaper VRMs. Basically VRMs control the voltage going into your processor, and the more energy a processor uses, the better the VRMs need to be. It's obviously more complicated than that but basically the more money you spend on a MOBO, the more energy it can provide in a stable manner. I would suggest the Asus TUF x570

That 1080 ti is $2000...? That's more than a 2080 ti lol. Not sure why it's so overpriced. It'd help if you told us about what you're using the machine for, what your general budget is, etc. I assume you also know that you need a case, PSU, etc

r/nvidia • comment
1 points • The_Zura

Yes, cpus require specific motherboards with correct bios software. The 3900x is compatible with x570 chipset motherboards out, x470 and B450 motherboards with a bios update (requires a working Ryzen 1000 or 2000 cpu or the bios usb flashback feature) if the bios hasn't been updated already. I wouldn't go any lower than 400 series motherboards, and x570 is a good bet.

Check this one out https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-TUF-X570-Plus-Motherboard-Lighting/dp/B07SXF8GY3/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=asus+x570&qid=1587035731&s=electronics&sr=1-1

Any specific recommendations on the MOBO, stick with same brand recommended, like this: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-TUF-X570-Plus-Motherboard-Lighting/dp/B07SXF8GY3 ?

Also - as far as the 'future proof', it's moreso the idea that it will be powerful enough to last him another 3-5 or so years before building new again, as opposed to upgrading, etc.

Your case doesn’t have a Disk drive, nor a slot to place one. You’ll have to use an external CD drive.

And if you’re using Ethernet, you’re fine with the MOBO you have. If not, you’ll need a WiFi card. Or you can switch the mobo to the X570 TUF Plus WiFi . It’s a fantastic board as well.

At that price, I'd go for a X570 board, and one that's not MSI. MSI has been caught doing some shady stuff as shown in videos by GamersNexus & JayZTwoCents. For my build I'm going with a TUF gaming board, which is on sale for $161 https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-TUF-X570-Plus-Motherboard-Lighting/dp/B07SXF8GY3

Very nice, OP!

Some recommendations:

Check out some X570 motherboards instead of your B450. Motherboards are the most important component, IMO, for sustainable builds, seeing that an old or otherwise poorly-supported one will be a bottleneck to many upgrade paths you might want to consider. The ASUS TUF X570 board is a great option for versatility at competitive costs -- it's only slightly more than what you're paying for your B450 board here.

If you decide to go with that upgrade, there's also some low-hanging fruit for SSD optimization -- you could go with an NVMe drive, for example Sabrent Rocket, since it's supported on your shiny new X570 board. The best on the market, to my knowledge, is the one by Gigabyte -- it supports 5K reads/sec and 4.4K writes/sec, which is PHENOMENAL relative to what I've seen in other NVMe SSDs. It's also only at $200, and it's only a $50 price bump or so from your initial build, so that's something to look into.

Other various nits:

I see you favor a Phanteks P300 here. I personally favor the Lian Li cases, owning a Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL (white) myself, so I can recommend the Lancool II Mesh by Lian Li (if you don't mind skipping out on RGB). You might have your reasons for the former, but I can't say enough good things about the Lian Li cases.

Instead of the RTX 2070 Super right now, you might wait for one of the cards from the RTX 3000 series to be released. You might get away with better specs for the same price if you bide your time and stay on top of your research.

This is the first comment I've seen concerning this board that said you don't need a previous gen CPU to install the latest BIOS. Hello. I'm new to the community and kinda new to wanting to really up my "audio" game after upgrading my PC recently, so I had some questions for all the people in the community who are much smarter than myself. Hope it's okay to ask questions here.

First of all, I am a huge gaymer and always been into gaming headsets. Please don't shred me. lol. I have the astros a50 gen3 and have loved them for a long time. After recently upgrading my pc, I wanted to maybe take a different route to better audio while gaming and hope you all could offer suggestions since I'm kinda new at this.

I have the asus TUf x570 wifi plus mobo in case you needed specs for my motherboard Link here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SXF8GY3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So, before I ask I am looking for headphones or a setup mainly leaning toward gaming but I also listen to music while gaming, so i like to it be well rounded. A good mic is a positive also. As far as money, I prefer to stay under 500.00 for the setup but could go a little more for right assortment of audio mix.

I was looking at the beyerdynamic mmx300. I know i don't need an amp for the headphones but would there be a benefit to having one?

  1. My motherboard says

Realtek® S1200A
Exclusive DTS Custom for
GAMING Headsets

Not really sure about the dts for that mobo or what it means. Is this on board sound going be good enough or should i look to upgrade my internal sound card? or will be it be fine without? or just with amp

  1. Is there another headset setup or gaming headphones you recommend? I am just looking for a higher end audio setup for my pc gaming experience.

Anyways, thank you anyone for future replies. You can reply here of if you know a lot about pc audio, you can dm me. I always love to learn new things and anything I learn will be helpful for the future for future audio when I build my next pc.
