Have a look at the ASUS TUF Gaming TUF505 TUF505DU-KB71 it is a great gaming laptop in budget

Screen Size : 15 inches

Processor : AMD Ryzen 7 3750H

Graphics : GTX 1660Ti

RAM : 8 GB

Weight : 4.9 lbs

Storage Type : 256 GB SSD + 1TB HDD

A fairly lightweight gaming laptop that has a semi-professional look. It has average surface temperatures and while it gets warm when gaming it does not get too hot that it will throttle. Its fans are quiet when running regular tasks but are audible when gaming. It has a decent build quality so it should be able to last you a while

This should run wow about as well as a mid range desktop pc from 3-4 years ago, so more than well enough. Don't be fooled by the i7 tag though, that CPU isn't all that powerful for gaming.

It's worth noting you can get affordable gaming laptops with 120hz screens now (looks like they start around $650). If you're looking at around the 1k price range you could check this out.

Hmm do you think its worth the slight price increase for this? Storage is something I can change put later.

Normally I wouldn’t recommend a gaming laptop but I’ve heard good things about this laptop and I understand the struggle. Be aware it’s definitely no thin and light but it’s not huge and it’s definitely manageable.

Depends on what you have now and what you'd like to do with the phone. I would imagine that you don't really have a gaming set up at the moment because you're looking at buying a phone to temporarily replace your current phone and as a laptop replacement. If you already have a functioning phone that you can still use, maybe focus on getting a laptop, especially if your main reason for the purchase is to game. There are a lot of great laptops that go around the same price as the ROG Phone 2. I found an Asus laptop with good specs for around the same price as the ROG Phone 2 (Keep in mind that I'm mainly talking about the original US price, which is around $900 I think.)

If you're wondering about how well the phone runs, it's great for a phone. I didn't personally use it the way you'd like to use it with the mouse and keyboard, but I'd assume that it would be usable but not the best experience in terms of laptop/desktop usage. Hopefully this was helpful ¯_(ツ)_/¯

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQB6DC1/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_Q7vUEbDFBVMA6 Same on you were looking at but with upgraded display and additional hard drive. Although, waiting til acer comes out with their nitro 5 refresh might net a better processor at similar price, this is more than capable of playing the games you wanted with great performance.

Gaming and thin don't really go together, and I know everyone hates on ASUS but I've never had a problem with them. My brother got one of these for Christmas and it seems to be a formidable little machine. We've both been desktop people forever but he's about to go to college 900 miles away and a laptop will fly easier than a desktop will.

Sounds like GTX 1660/1660ti territory, which is not bad to be honest.

Hi, if the only requirement is an AMD processor, the ASUS TUF FX505DU is a great fit. Ryzen 7 3750H and GTX 1660 Ti graphics within budget. It should be excellent for the uses you listed.

If I had a grand on hand for a lpatop, this is the Laptop that I would get. it has a 256 GB nvme SSD as a boot drive so it will deffinitely load up fast for you. it has an additional 1tb hard drive for what ever else you want to put on it.

Edit: I also want to add that this should really be able to handle just about everything that you can throw at it. Install the microsoft suite and you'll be set.

You guys have helped me so much!

So the insurance payment came through and it is a LOT more than I expected. I am having a hard time deciding what to get! So I can get this one:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQB6DC1/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_y2ZQEb7BJVE99

Or I can get a loaded up Mac Pro or Mack air. The only difference is the pro has a 2.8GHz i7 processor with boost up to 4.7 The air has 1.2GHz i7 boost up to 3.8

Now. Mac is going to be the easiest for me to get. It lasts a long time, I had my old one for 6 years and I’ve only been thinking about upgrading for the last few months. It also has the best value if I decide to sell it. All my electronics are Apple. I have an iPad and an iPhone. My external storage is all coded to Mac.

PC is half as expensive. I will have to completely start over with rebuying programs and reinstalling everything.

I can’t decide!!! The amount the insurance is paying out is almost exactly the price of the MacBook Pro.

you will be able to get a good CPU and a GTX 1660Ti that will allow for very good 1080p gaming.

GTX 1660ti is the best you can get with this budget. try to avoid the ones with GTX1650 or lower, as the performance is significantly worse

That's a good PC but I worry about the GPU being enough on that one, considering what else is available. This one is a little closer I think, It's a little light on the RAM, but that can always be upgraded. 16gb is a standard right now, though, so you're not shorting yourself if you stick with it.

You are going to find it very very hard to find something with those specs at that price range. I'd start looking at used gear. You might find luck with AMD Ryzen processors.

I found this for $999:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQB6DC1/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_tWZiEb04MSQXH

Or maybe this which is in your budget. Just buy a new ram kit as well:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VBK4SYS/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_oXZiEbH6RQACK

Also, I highly suggest transcoding all your footage to a low resolution and then finishing with a high resolution once you have picture lock.

I payed about $1800 for an open box pristine Razer 15 i7 w/ GTX2070. This would be the machine I recommend.

refresh rate and XXXHz display are the same thing. It's how many frames can be shown in one second. The more frames, the smoother the image will be.

A 1650 is an entry-level GPU for people on a budget, or for those getting a premium laptop that's needs additional graphics processing. A 1660 Ti is a upper mid-tier graphics card for high refresh rate (100+ Frames per second) 1080p/1440p gaming.

When gaming think about it like a point system like choosing stats for a character. The 2 attributes you need to balance are:

Image quality (FullHD (1080p)/WQHD (1440p)/4K)

Detail quality (low, medium, high, ultra)

frames per second (30fps, 60fps, 90fps, 200fps, etc)

Both image quality as well as the frames per second are dependent on the display you get. You can't get 4K level detail on a FullHD display. Same as you cant see 100fps on a display that only has a refresh rate of 60Hz (Hz = frames per second).

The more points you spend on one thing, the more they cost to get to the next level. 1080p to 1440p is less points than 1440p to 4k. As low to medium detail quality is less points as than medium to high which is less than high to ultra. The 1650 has for example 3 points while something like the 1660 Ti has 8 points.

The 1650 will get you 1080p image quality, with medium settings at a solid 60 fps for most games. Better than anything from 6 years ago that wasn't a high-end tier gfx card.

The 1660 Ti can do 1080p gaming at ultra setting with a very high frames per second or 1440p gaming with high settings at around 60 FPS. This also depends on the game. Final Fantasy XV will not be playable on a 1650 while you can run it at 1080p 60 fps ultra settings with a 1660 ti.

Something like planet zoo will run fine on the 1650. But "just fine" is all you will probably get. However, the next step up is the 1660 ti and you will want a high refresh rate display along with that. There is a somewhat large difference between the two. One is what every manufacturer puts in a laptop that needs a dedicated GPU the other is what is put in gaming machines.

The laptops you put up are WAY overpriced. For $1000 you can easily get a good laptop with a 1660 ti and a 144hz display. For $1400 you're getting in to the lower end of high-tier gaming and workstation PCs.

Honestly Your budget is what will drive your recommendations.

Here is a good 1660ti laptop with 120HZ display for $1000 You can probably find a similar one for $50-100 cheaper if you watch r/laptopdeals.

Here is a decent laptop with a 1650 and 120Hz display for $650.

The 1650 will be more available on higher end ultrabooks like the XPS or Razer Stealth. But those will be considerably more in cost. $1500-2000 level.

You can get a laptop with a 1650 for around $600-700

Im in a similar situation an im searching more or less the same requirements,
for now i found 2 decent laptops but im not sure which one to pick:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QQB6DC1/ref=psdc_13896615011_t2_B07V6DG5ZC
GTX 1660 Ti 6GB
16gb ram
ryzen 7
256 gb ssd = 1000$
https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B07SXTDL1S/ref=olp_twister_child?ie=UTF8&mv_style_name=3
Rtx 2060
16gb ram
512 gb ssd
ryzen7

Im thinking of buying the second one because its clearly superior and costs just 100$ more.
What are your thoughts on these laptops? hope i helped somehow.

If you want something thin and a bit more professional then you could look into the Thinkpad X1 Extreme. It's quite a bit lighter than most options in this price range, still has good specs, and has a pretty good battery life. It's GTX 1650 is good enough for most AAA titles on medium-ish settings. You can also customize the storage or install a larger SSD on your own.

You can find options with a more powerful GTX 1660 or even an RTX 2060 if you're willing to sacrifice portability. There's also options like the Asus TUF which combine an SSD with a slower HDD to have quite a bit of storage at a lower price.

UNRESOLVED

I am using this laptop-->https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-IPS-Type-R7-3750H-GeForce-TUF505DU-EB74/dp/B07QQB6DC1/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=asus+tuf+laptop+ryzen+7+1660ti&qid=1587849451&sr=8-4

I have not messed around with overclocks at all, or anything like that

When using geforce experience, there is the normal sized screen. The problem is that overlayed with that, is a smaller version of what I am looking at. I have tried restarting my laptop, and uninstalling GeForce Experience, then reinstalling it. I know that you are supposed to report the issue to Nvidia, but this problem is present wherever I go within GeForce experience, even "Send Feedback". This problem has persisted for over a month. I have the latest cpu drivers, but my graphics card drivers are now out of date, due to not being able to use GeForce experience to update them.

Here is a link to a screenshot https://imgur.com/KxnDasx

My mouse is not shown on screen because it is behind the second, smaller "copy". It is not a second window, or another instance of GeForce experience.

I am new to reddit, just to ask this question. I have asked it here because I could not find a reddit for GeForce experience

Lighter laptop = thin/no optical drive and 15.6" display.
For $1,200 you can get a machine with a solid state drive (SSD) AND a traditional hard disc drive (HDD) for storage, 16 or 32 GB DDR4 RAM, and a discrete graphics card (as opposed to CPU integrated graphics). You'll definitely want discrete graphics for video editing. Looking through Amazon, here's a few good machines:
