Would this work well with an ASRock B450M PRO4 Motherboard? Planning my first build and this is definitely a better value than my current memory option.

Same price on Amazon.

i ordered a pair of these yesterday for my kid's PCs ... gonna upgrade them up from Haswell i5.

I grabbed the $44 16gb ddr4-3200 yesterday

I won a pair of GTX1070 for $300 on ebay

Now i'm hoping to find a deal on a Ryzen 3100 or 2600.

Christmas is gonna be good this year :)

Mine had the same estimated delivery date and they are delivering it earlier (this Friday). So maybe this AsRock can help you, it is microATX but with the shortage it’s hard to be picky.

If you want to go new I would pick up an ASRock B450M Pro4. Built 2 PC's using the same board. One has been in use with a 1600 for a year no problems.

I would get a ryzen 5 3600 for the cpu and an ASrock b450m pro4 for the motherboard, should cost $250.

The 3600 is the best price performance cpu rn and the pro4 is a good budget motherboard to pair with it if you don't plan on doing big overclocks.

By now pretty much all B450 boards have updated out of the box to support Ryzen 3rd Gen CPUs. Just check reviews on the site you are buying from to make sure it is, like for example Amazon is updated.

Will this card be an easy upgrade/plug and play with my current MOBO (ASRock MicroATX Motherboard (B450M PRO4)?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FVYKFXF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've read in places that this CPU may require an update to the MOBO BIOS. Is that true? If so, easy or complicated?

I currently run a AMD Ryzen 5 2600 so this would be a massive upgrade for me.

Usually goes for about $75. A very good motherboard even for up to a 3700x (may or may not need a bios update). Currently sold out on Amazon, but back in stock on the 15th.

I don't want to say it isn't a big deal because you could still potentially buy a board that doesn't support this CPU out of the box. Some (all? not sure honestly) companies started updating their b450 boards and popping a sticker on the box that says 'Ryzen 3000 compatible.'

It is just hard to determine whether the particular board you're buying is updated when shopping online.

edit: here is a board I use:

https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-MicroATX-Motherboard-B450M-PRO4/dp/B07FVYKFXF/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Asrock+b450m+pro4&qid=1591196970&sr=8-1

The seller says in the comments that the ones they're selling have been updated to support Ryzen 3000.

If I'm not reading the list wrong, it seems it would be alright up to a 3700X/3800X at stock? A bit more with some airflow.

I don't know. It might look awesome but it seems to have a lot of plastic chunks or aluminum blocks that aren't great for cooling.

For a cheap but functional board I would go with the Pro4, unless you want to eventually update to a 12-core or need some particular feature: https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-MicroATX-Motherboard-B450M-PRO4/dp/B07FVYKFXF

I am Brand New to Pc building and I Need to know good cheap motherboard for Ryzen 3 3200g!!

I have been wanting to build a very budget friendly PC using the Ryzen 3 3200g but am having troubles knowing what motherboard is best but also cheap. I have looked at some options and can’t decide. For now I don’t plan on adding a dedicated graphics card for a little while but want a motherboard that would eventually be able to add a graphics card. These are the ones I looked at: ASRock Motherboard

MSI motherboard

Gigabyte Motherboard

I have a couple of questions for you guys:

1) I have a Ryzen 1600AF, a GTX 1070 (or a 580GB cause I don't game much these days), 16GB RAM 2x8 3200mhz, a 256 SATA SSD and a 2 TB HDD. What kind of PSU do I need? Will 550W be enough?

2)Which MOBO is better? This one or this one?

Thanks!

I bought this motherboard a couple weeks ago because my PC died and I am EXTREMELY happy with it. This is coming from someone that has literally never built a PC before. The instructions were clear and easy to read and as a novice I was able to figure out what went where with no problems. Also the BIOS interface is really nice looking and user-friendly.

I originally ordered this MOBO but it got lost in shipping and re-ordering it would have taken another 3-4 weeks so I ordered this MSI board from Best Buy.

I think for the price it's a great board, but that is just my own opinion; I really like it so far.

PS: it's paired with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a GTX 1070.

yeah yeah. absolutely. the motherboard has almost zero impact on performance. it only has more features, like allowing you to put more storage, go for 2 graphics cards, allow you to overclock, etc.

the motherboard will not define the performance. the only difference for an average user is RAM speed, that very low end motherboards(A320 and below) do not support fast RAM, and even then RAM speed has almost no impact in game(maybe 5% extra FPS comparing a 3200Mhz to a 4000Mhz).

The best B450 motherboard right now is this. if you plan to do some overclocking on your CPU or have lots of SSDs and HDDs to connect to:

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jcYQzy/msi-b450-tomahawk-max-atx-am4-motherboard-b450-tomahawk-max

for average user. it gives almost the same features, just has less expansion slots and usb ports. you can still overclock the CPU if you want to, just maybe not as much:

https://www.amazon.com/ASRock-MicroATX-Motherboard-B450M-PRO4/dp/B07FVYKFXF/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=b450+pro4&qid=1590259589&sr=8-1

all tomahawks come with ryzen 3 support. for the B450 Pro4, the vendor has updated all BIOS as well, but if you buy from another seller, make sure to check before

Intel's mainstream desktop line refresh should be about a month out (subject to change at literally any moment), but I wouldn't bank on seeing Zen3 before September with the way things have been going.

One stopgap option is to swap for a Ryzen 5 1600 "AF" model, which would give you a Zen+ based 6C/12T CPU with boxed cooler at a decent cost ($85 in the US when in stock and sold by Amazon directly, plus a basic motherboard for \~$80). Factor in 2x8GB of serviceable DDR4-3200 memory for around $65 and you've got an objectively more useful system for the same total cost as dropping in a secondhand i7-4790k (about \~$230).

You'll see a fairly minor boost for solely single threaded performance, but multicore will be leagues ahead and you'll have the advantage of faster memory, the usual assortment of quicker USB ports and NVMe M.2 drive support.

You'll also be able to drop in another, higher performance CPU variant down the road should the mood strike you. Zen3 isn't guaranteed compatible with B450 chipsets, but I'd give it better than even odds. Worst case scenario, though, you can drop in a 3700X or even the 12- or 16-core versions if you leave them at stock settings (rather than attempting to push for high all-core manual overclocks). The

Factor in that at this point you can still likely sell your existing hardware for near break-even, and there's a reason that a no frills B450/1600AF combo is a bit of an eyebrow raiser.

Intel's in a bit of an odd spot at the entry level right now. The 9400F/B365 pair just isn't compelling.

If you're able to stretch things out a little bit, final market pricing for Intel's 10th generation desktop parts might determine whether it's worth jumping to a higher end chip from either camp. If the i7-10700K comes in at $350, as an example, it could pose a strong alternative to the 3700X/3800X eight core Ryzen CPUs (albeit one which is still higher in cost).

For the midrange at this exact minute, a 6C/12T 3600 or 8C/16T 3700X plus B450 combo is tough to beat. For high framerate gaming (eg, eSports titles), an 8C/8T i7-9700K still performs well but may sooner run into thread limitations a few years down the road.

Clear as mud, eh? :D

TLDR:

When do you think the Ryzen market will go back to normal?

I'm doing my first build and not too familiar with the market's past and current situation. I hear that Ryzen is taking a hit in demand and there inventory (correct me if that is wrong). I'm wanting a Ryzen 3 3100 or 3300X and am willing to wait a pretty solid amount of time cause money is a bit tight. (Also want to get an ASRock B450M PRO4 and kind of the same situation for this mobo). Of course we can't see into the future but I wanted to hear from people who are relatively familiar with the market.
