AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K 3840x2160 Frameless IPS 5ms Monitor (Over 99% sRGB) $228.75

There's the AOC U2790VQ that I can vouch for. It usually hovers around $250-$280 on amazon and is honestly the best 4k monitor for the price. It doesn't have HDR, but it makes up for it with a good brightness and is factory-calibrated . I use it as a daily monitor for browsing and sometimes photo editing - it's fantastic.

Thanks! They are 27 inch 4k AOCs https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LBM2DCC
They are really great for the price, huge upgrade over my old 1080p monitors

Any reason not to add $30 to get 4k? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LBM2DCC/

I have a 2k 144Hz monitor that I'm happy with for gaming, and my 2nd monitor that I also use for my PS4 is just a standard 1080p monitor. Would an AOC U2790VQ be a good upgrade for my 2nd monitor to use with my PS4 and as a 2nd screen? I mostly just watch Twitch, so 4k video isn't that useful, but I'd mostly want it for a higher resolution 2nd monitor and to use with my PS4 pro (potentially PS5 in the future).

If you can’t find anything then most likely it’s a budget issue and not a product issue.

Resolution should be your first priority. Refresh rate isn’t nearly as useful for a work monitor.
I think I might go with this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BkFfEbGTY3DYM
It has a VESA mount as well in case you want to use a different mount/stand.

If you ONLY LOOKING FOR 4K theres this aoc monitor. But the color and response time wont be the best. Your paying for a budget monitor so your gonna get budget performance

Hi, if you can wait for it to come back into stock, the AOC U2790VQ is a good choice. 27" 4K IPS with thin bezels and VESA.
1 points • errata88
Yep it’s a 27” Monitor. I use that and the laptop screen. I might grab another cable to drive one more monitor. No lags or choppy animation.
Used daily for indesign, photoshop, after effects, premiere, virtual environment, programming .. and lots of twitch tv lately now that I’m stuck at home 24/7. I love it and I wish I actually owned it but a work laptop is the next best thing.
This is the monitor: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2790VQ-3840x2160-Frameless-DisplayPort/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=U2790VQ&qid=1561410126&s=gateway&sr=8-1
I’d probably be a bit pickier about the monitor but my workplace spent the money on this one so I’m not complaining, even brought it home for all this self isolation.
Hope this helps!

This one AOC U2790VQ
I think it's amazing. Works as well as I could have expected, and I'm okay with being capped at 60fps since I also plan to use it at 1080p + RT + 60fps if/when that is ever available (if I can get used to 1080p again lol). I also plan to use a dual monitor setup later so this is going to be the 'cheaper' monitor while I wait to get another one with HDMI 2.1 and maybe 144hz when Sony enables VRR on the PS5.
I also DEFINITELY wouldn't get a 27-32" 1080p monitor. Unless you like pixel art lul

As long as the monitor you pick advertises a resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K), the size of the display does not matter. Unless of course, you have a desired size in mind.
Something like this will do just fine.
If you're looking for more fancy features, you can also find 4K monitors capable of 75-240 Hz refresh rates, 1 ms response times, etc. Though, I don't believe MacBooks support refresh rates above 60 Hz.

Yep! Ended up going with this:
AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K 3840x2160 UHD Frameless Monitor, IPS, 5ms, 1 Billion+ Colors, 108% sRGB, VESA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cHfIFbRYAPEAV
Definitely a few compromises, especially with the higher side of gamut coverage and factory calibration, but it seems like good bang for the buck and one of the best options in the price range.

I recently got a 4k 27 inch IPS for $237 which is even cheaper in pounds.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Ygq6EbANYGVVM
It's $250 right now but I'm not sure if they will sell in Europe currently.
Also I would recommend trying 144hz once in your life. 1440p 144hz is really something great :)

I don't know if this is helpful but my mid-2014 MacBook Pro 15" (2.5 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 and Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB) drives a 4K external monitor without any issues. I've also had another lower res external plugged in simultaneously. However, even with just the 4K monitor plugged in, after a while the keyboard does get a bit hot and fans run.

I have a 27"x3 setup on monitor arms. For productivity, I think it's unequivocally better. 4K panels have superior detail, there's 50% more screen area, window snapping correctly sizes windows without the need for software tricks, and the entire setup costs less.
https://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2790VQ-3840x2160-Frameless-DisplayPort/dp/B07LBM2DCC
That 49" panel would be preferable for many games, if only for VA's higher native contrast and the lack of bezels, however narrow. Twitch gamers would probably want something with a higher refresh rate and frame synchronization, though.

The link below is the best i could find in 10 min. But if you look around more, wait, and just keep a general look out, you can probably find one on sale. Or you might just find a better deal. This monitor is 4k @ 60 fps, with a 5ms response time.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07LBM2DCC/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Btw I got this one for $200, but it doesn’t seem to be available at that price anymore. Maybe the company that sales it at that price is just out of stock? Maybe it was on sale? Idk. But it is 4k @60 fps 5ms response time, but you can get 70 fps with a superior hdmi cable, that it does come with.

DISCLAIMER: I’M PRETTY NEW TO ALL THIS, SO THERE MAY BE SOMETHING I’M MISSING.

i assume with the keyboard and mouse configuration your not gonna game too much tho, a 3900x is a good bang for the buck with production tasks, with a monitor thisne is good for the price. https://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2790VQ-3840x2160-Frameless-DisplayPort/dp/B07LBM2DCC/ . if you game and like some good refresh rate with color accuracy but dont need 4k. this one is decent https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WVN6CWT/ although usually its below $200

Can you please provide how came into that 8bit FRC conclusion?
Since “I don’t have any idea” apparently
That’s a true 10 bit display
4k, 27 inches.
My point still stands

Hi,
This AOC at <$250 is a very good deal for a 16:9 display that works well with a Mac (USB-C to HDMI is how I have mine attached).

I am considering VESA mount for my two 27 inch monitors to free up some desk space. I haven no real experience with these, seems reasonable enough, but I have seen both standing options and clamp style. Is there any reputable mount that would support two 27 inch monitors? I just find it hard to imagine one stand holding both monitors up without being clamped down or something, they are pretty big.
For reference, these are my monitors:
Thanks!

Close! Chair was actually $430, but work bought it for me when Covid hit.
The main monitor is a 27" 4k display, but not 120hz. (I don't play many games, this is mostly for productivity)

Yah, that's what I've been doing, I was just trying to explore another method of gathering information before making a decision. Also kind of hoping someone would suggest a monitor I have not considered yet.
I'm struggling with deciding on making the switch to 1 ultrawide or stick with 2 monitors. I like the idea of using one monitor that rotates into portrait mode for coding, but I also like the idea of using only 1 ultrawide and doing split screen. I know 1st world problems lol.
27" seems to be the sweet spot for me if I don't go the ultrawide route. And I am heavily considering:

This is what I think you should do:
Yes, it is expensive but it has major perks
- 64 Gb ram
- Portable
- Great battery
- Great keyboard
- Great build
- Good look for business
- Leaves money for monitors (I recommend two of these and then you have money for a mouse and keyboard ) and that still leaves you with spare money

Asus VP28UQG 28" 4K Monitor $259.99
AOC U2790VQ 27" 4K Monitor $269.99
There is a 1" difference but they're pretty much the same in terms of viewing area because the AOC has much smaller bezels. The Asus has the better response time though with the 1ms vs the 5ms of the AOC but it's not insanely noticeable when playing games since they're both just 60 Hz monitors.
If you play mostly competitive games then shoot for one of these...
AOC CQ27G1 27" 1440p 144 Hz Monitor $243.64

Two of these (4k monitor), three of these (basic 1080p monitor), one of these (2k 240hz monitor), one of these (6 monitor mount), one of these (RTX 2080), and 16gb ram. The forbidden photo (i got the number wrong in the title oops)
I have way too many hobbies dude. I play PC games, I play drums and piano and I'm learning guitar, vocals and beatbox, I speedcube, and I build websites and web apps. I'm not really very good at any of them but whatever, I still love learning new things
Ummm I can't think of anything lol, I don't watch many movies at all. I feel like I just don't have time for them
I don't really know what my answer is supposed to be but I actually love CSS. It was one of the first things I learned and it's probably my most well refined web-related skill. Sometimes I even prefer mocking up sites in CSS rather than figma or whatever just because I find it easier, but my boss would never let me do that lmao.

It will also depend on what type of resolution and framerate you are looking for. If you just want 4k 60hz there are a few good priced monitors on amaszon in the 25-28in range. If you are looking for 4k 120hz you are going to be paying a lot more.
