[Monitor] AOC CQ27G1 27" Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor QHD/2K/1440p, 1ms, 144Hz, FreeSync, VA panel, VESA - $249.99

For me, 4k honestly isn't worth it. I'd prefer 1440p at 144hz for a nicer and more clean look. I currently use a AOC 2K 144hz 1440P monitor which I picked up on cyber monday for $210. They Currently go for $250 but around $280 after taxes. 4K isn't worth it at 60hz unless you go for one at 144hz with a 1440p resolution.

You can get very similar displays for $150-$200. This is getting into 1440p 144hz prices

This or this $230 27" AOC that's always floating around?

This is 60hz but 4k: https://www.amazon.com/VP28UQG-Monitor-3840x2160-Adaptive-FreeSync/dp/B074PK4R2H/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=ASUS+ROG+PG259QN+360Hz+Monitor&qid=1599935649&sr=8-2&tag=pcce-20
This is 1440p but with a higher 144hz: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-CQ27G1-DisplayPort-adjustable-Zero-Bright/dp/B07V39QHMY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=1440p+144hz+monitor&qid=1599935786&sr=8-3
So whichever you think he would like more, 4k at 60hz or 1440 at 144hz. I personally would go with 1440 at 144hz.

The AOC CQ27G1 would be my suggestion.

Well happy gaming bud when the rest comes in.
If you do decide to 2k game I bought the below monitor and it works well. It's adaptive sync and works with the RTX 2060 for gsync.

It's $229 at Amazon and I'm getting 60 plus FPS.
I tell you this because I was on a budget too but after my initial PC build I wanted to eventually get a 2k monitor. I finally got it.

If you want almost the same exact monitor with just a bit of bump up in price this is it and it’s usually 230 dollars.
Right now with the whole virus thing people are snatching these up but they restock every couple hours or days

$300ish. Not the best monitor out there and has flickering but better than anything 60hz.

I just got an AOC CQ27G1 , it's curved and QHD, 144hz, and I love it. The curved screen really helps to cut down on eye strain which is usually a problem for me with larger screens, and it looks fantastic. It just needed a tiny bit of color tweaking out of the box. Mine was $229 but I'm not sure what the cost is for you or if it's available in your area?

At the moment I have a 2060 S (with a Ryzen 1600 CPU - which bottlenecks the hell outta my GPU), and a 1440p monitor, and it is able to run new AAA games with maxed out settings and 60+ FPS. If you get the 2080 S, you will 100% be able to play 1440p sustainably.

After watching some youtube reviews this was the one i settled on. At its price point of around 250 I really dont have any complaints. But if you have more of a budget there are some decent ones starting around 300+ it looks like.

No prob. So everyone’s buying up monitors with this whole crisis since they’re working from home. It’s incredibly hard to find any in stock at the moment but the monitor I have is awesome. It cost $250 at the time and I’m sure that it’ll be back in stock shortly. Thank you so much. I’ve been searching for the past few days. No stores near me have a 1440p 144hz monitor in stock. I’ve resorted to searching online. I’ve found this one that has pretty good reviews, and an affordable price. What are your thoughts on it? Or do you have a recommendation for another monitor under $350? Sweet! It's on BO, but there's no rush. Thank you for your time. Mind sparing some more to assist me with finding a monitor/keyboard/mouse?
1440p 144hz was looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-CQ27G1-DisplayPort-adjustable-Zero-Bright/dp/B07V39QHMY. If you know one that hovers around that price (max $300), then I'd appreciate it.
Keyboard and mouse I've no clue about. I've always liked the ones that light up with rainbow colors.

I think 1080p is fine. The difference between 1080p and 1440p is quite smaller than the difference between 1080p and 720p. If you really want to do 1440p, then go ahead if you already have a 1440p monitor or can afford one. Here's my 1440p monitor recommendation: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07V39QHMY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_dIpkEbYV9HA6J

Personally, I've been using the AOC CG27C1, one of the cheapest you'll fine that supports 1440p and 144hz. Usually goes for 250, I've seen it on r/buildapcsales twice in the past month. Love it, by the way, but I'm just a casual gamer.

I'm finally getting my first tower, and I'm looking for a budget monitor. Is this one acceptable? (AOC CQ27G1) I think my absolute maximum price is $250, and I'm a little overwhelmed with refresh rates, response times, etc. I'm totally okay with a curved monitor.

I’d like to suggest the AOC CQ27G1 as a possible option to your monitor choice. Right now it’s running $229 on Amazon and it has the exact same specs as the monitor you listed. I love mine and I can’t believe the amount of monitor you get for your money with this model. Just a suggestion, as it will save you a bit of money compared to the MSI and maybe you could spend it elsewhere on the build?
Either way, good luck with the build and congratulations on the memories with your son.
