These are literally selling for about the same price on B&H ($432) and Amazon ($432). Even one-day shipping cannot make up for the ability to get one $12 cheaper without warranties.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SXMZLP9

Original price: $499.00 Current price: $422.68 Save: $76.32

See that "save"? That's called a "discount" (and don't worry, I know Microcenter has a bigger "save" - a $100 discount).

Definition of discount

(Entry 1 of 3)

1: a reduction made from the gross (see GROSS entry 1 sense 3b) amount or value of something: such as

a(1): a reduction made from a regular or list price offering customers a ten percent discountbuy tickets at a discount

Oh I get it, English is not your primary language. I should've clarified that first. I see the err of my ways. Basically, if you originally said "$100 price difference," we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Then look at the Intel Core i9-9900 or the Ryzen 9 3900x. Both are around $430/$440 right now.

You need to look at the specific product page under "Special offers and product promotions".

For example your 3600X only shows the game pass.

On the other hand the 3900X shows both the game pass AND the game.

The landing page you linked only says up to 2 games for select processors. It's a scummy practice, but fortunately Amazon is very good about returns so like I said you can just return it and buy from another retailer, just make sure their produce page says you get both the game and the game pass.

Have you considered this?

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3900X-24-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLP9

I feel like for a VM host it's a much better deal for the price.

And how about this board?
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Pro-WS-X570-ACE/

And some ~$95 16GB ECC ram sticks to top it all off.

If you want Intel, I get it. But just thought I would give what I think is a good alternative today.

Maybe try other streaming platforms first to see if it is not just a twitch issue.

You have a pretty good system.

I cant imagine the CPU being that much of a bottle neck, but if you were to upgrade, it would definitely be the CPU. For your use case im pretty sure AMD is the better choice just all around.

Like you would prob be wanting more cores.

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3900X-24-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLP9/

Like this would be a pretty hefty upgrade, if you really want a big upgrade and have money to burn you could go to the 3950x:

Important to remember that MSRP does not reflect street prices, or the prices you can actually buy these CPUs for--in the US, etc. For instance, the 3900X is going for \~$420 (I paid $419 for mine); while the 3900XT sits close to $499. It's not even rational to sell the X/XT for the same price, imo. If they both cost the same you'd go for the XT every time. Hence, the \~$80 savings on the X.

Hello, that's good news. Contact them again next mid-week and in the meantime install your processor to facilitate the upcoming product verification seamlessly. (Remember to save the .exe file, and do not rename it)

Is this the particular page you've placed your order? If so, it'll only include the game titles and not 3 months Xbox Game Pass.

An example of a processor that do include both the game titles and Xbox Game Pass would be the Ryzen 9 3900X. Note under "Special offers and product promotions":

  • Receive code for The Outer Worlds AND Borderlands 3 with the purchase of a qualifying product shipped and sold by Amazon.com. Code emailed 2 business days after order shipment. One code per customer. Valid 9/30/19–2/15/2020.
  • Receive 3 months of Xbox Game Pass for PC with the purchase of a qualifying product shipped and sold by Amazon.com. You will be emailed a digital code 2 business days after your order ships. One benefit per customer. Offer runs 7/1/2019 – 4/25/2020.

Good luck and have fun.

500 bucks lands you a 12 core 24 thread AMD 3900x....

500 bucks lands you a 9900KF....

>https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80684I99900KF-i9-9900KF-Processor-Unlocked/dp/B07MGBZWDZ/ref=pd_sbs_147_t_0/140-3350934-1674741?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07MGBZWDZ&pd_rd_r=43398472-88a2-45e7-80ff-91f03888acf0&pd_rd_w=xsM3r&pd_rd_wg=SMe1d&pf_rd_p=5cfcfe89-300f-47d2-b1ad-a4e27203a02a&pf_rd_r=TKZDQYP1T17TZ9QD85QX&psc=1&refRID=TKZDQYP1T17TZ9QD85QX

in terms of gaming performance. the 9900kf is guaranteed to hit 5ghz if you manually overclock it.... which will give it an edge over the 3900x in pretty much every game.... the 3900x has more cores though, so you can do more multitask wise.....

if you plan to stream, the 3900x will get the same fps if not more when streaming as the 9900kf because it has more cores thus less impact to game fps....

honestly both are solid choices in my mind at that price point.

Agreed.

Though, I think AMD is need of keeping affordable products on the shelves more so than high end products. Its something like only 1% of builder purchase a CPU over 400 and a GPU over 300. Most purchase in the 200 range for both. So, they need to keep cheaper dies readily available and just a few of the high end dies.

That said, is there is still any sort of supply issues for the 3900x? I had no issues purchasing it same day back in October. It's got next day delivery on Amazon for $492 right now.

A lot of people are making the switch from Intel to AMD for CPUs. They just are a better bang for the buck and reach higher performances. I would go with this setup instead.

Ryzen 9 3900x- $418.99

MSI MPG x570 - $189.99

Nzxt Kraken x52 - $132.99

I don't know if you would want to switch cases, but I definitely think the NZXT H710i, $168.99, can be a great option as well.

This looks like a great build, you should be good in all that you do. I would try and get 32GB set of the RAM. Don't try and go any lower on that speed though, the higher speed benefits Ryzen a great amount.

I'm scared, but I'm moving to AMD!

The last time I used an AMD CPU was an awful laptop in the early 2000's that was running an AMD Duron and... ehem... Windows ME... As much as I've always been a die-hard fan of the blue team, it's kind of hard to justify staying with it when 3rd gen Ryzen seems to be mostly crushing it. Anyway, here's my plan...

I've been running an i7-6800k since 2016, but... long story short, my H100i V2 failed, and now my CPU is all burned up. My machine didn't throttle and didn't alert me of high temperatures, and then it just... didn't want to live anymore. My RAM, NVMe, GPU, and PSU are coming with me to my new build. I'm looking at the Ryzen 9 3900X CPU and the Asrock X570 Steel Legend motherboard (links below). I'll be using the Wraith Prism stock cooler, as I don't plan on overclocking (yet). I'm moving from a Level 10 GT Snow to a Level 20 MT, but that's not relevant here.

I guess I'm mostly just looking for reassurance that this is an ok direction to go. I 'll be using it for gaming (EVGA GTX 1080 FTW DT), and I do a lot of Linux VM's and stuff, but I'll be running Win 10 Pro on it for sure. I want the cores to accommodate the VM's, and I'll have 32GB of RAM to play with (4x 8GB G.Skill DDR4-3000). I'm really nervous about moving to AMD, even though I probably have no reason to be concerned. I want the motherboard to have wifi so I can move my Orbi somewhere else (I rent, so I can't run wire). Anyway, please give me your blessing or your recommendation for alternatives. I'd like to keep my mobo under 200 bucks, and no larger than ATX. Thanks!

Wait, how notable is running two channel vs four channel on the benefits side? I just got this 4x8GB RAM set on Sunday, but could easily return it for the equivalent 2x16GB. It's being paired with a Ryzen 9 3900X, if that matters.

This is my first build since I was 15 and putting together pieces of old computers. So basically I’m brand new to the PC Master Race but I figured I would start strong. I originally wanted to build with Intel but many have convinced me to go with AMD and I am extremely happy with the choice!
