[CPU] AMD Ryzen 7 3700X + Assassin's Creed: Valhalla ($283 USD - $23 USD = $259.99 USD or $354 CAD) [Amazon US]
I ended up paying $348.52 CAD for this CPU! (Sold AC:Valhalla to a friend for $70 CAD)
Having it shipped to your home is still cheaper. Here's my receipt:

Piggybacking to say that it's the same price on Amazon if you have points or gift cards to use.

Overclock if basically means getting more performance out of the system, like tuning for a car’s engine. I wouldn’t recommend it for first time builders.
The wraith prism comes with the 3700x so you don’t need to buy anything else. Link: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3700X-16-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLPK/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=amd+3700&qid=1608398807&sr=8-3
The reason I said don’t get the one in video is because it is not priced well. You don’t see much of an improvement over the one that is included with the 3700x.

An alternate that would take you over your budget by 10 dollars is this |CPU|Ryzen 7 3700X|$259.99 (Amazon US)|)

Doesn't say anything about the promos so you might got get anything when purchased thru ebay. Newegg on their site only gives the gamepass but no game.
If the game & gamepass is worth ~$25 to you, amazon is participating in both right now https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SXMZLPK (no guarantees how long they'll offer both for, as up until recently they only offered both promos on the 3900X and not the 3700X/3800X)

[CPU] AMD Ryzen 3700X - Amazon - $259.99 (Same as Newegg)

In the US the delta isn't that large
It's 25% more cores/threads. In the grand scheme of cost of the build it's still a significant performance increase for minimal cost.

I’d get it if it were closer to my next build. Hoping that by that time there is something around the same price with better performance.

will increase for sure, don’t worry about bottle necking lol edit: i recommend getting a 3700x instead if you were to buy a 2700x on newegg the 3700x is cheaper as well as amazon
the 3800x is 334 the 3700x is $289 on amazon
the stock cooler does come with preapplied thermal paste, make sure your motherboard is compatible first though it is a 3rd gen ryzen cpu

Overpriced. $304 at Amazon

The 3700x is 290ish, at least in the US.
>I'm not running high end GPU yet
CPU doesn't matter much then, at least not for gaming.
>eventually video editing
In that case MOAR COARS matters.
>Overclocking does matter REALLY much
Not really. I'd look at it as a cherry on top moreso than anything that will make a material difference.
I say this as someone who forgot he turned off a 70% overclock for months... (2.13GHz up to 3.6GHz).
You aren't adding 3GHz onto your chip, you're adding 1/10th of that.

> is selling a new 3700x at 360 USD. I'm not sure if it's a bargain
I'm not sure why you're not sure. A quick google search would show you that it is clearly not a bargain:
I would only really consider buying it from him if he's offering it for ~$250.

Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3700X-16-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLPK
If you already have the 2700X though i'm not sure it's worth the upgrade. I would wait for the 4000 series to come out and see if your board can handle it.

it's 10 bucks more expensive on Amazon atm, btw.
I think i'd rather do Amazon than ebay. Maybe i'm just paranoid.

R7 3700x is $289. Update your mobo bios before selling off your R5 2600.
1 points • MeMyWifeAndMyDogs
It only comes with 1 game now, not the game pass.
A few weeks ago it was only the game pass.
3800x is listed as coming with 2 games but no game pass.
AMD's promo says you get the game and game pass, .com does not.

Strictly speaking IPC terms the 5600X has 19% IPC increase and is basically a 3700X with slightly less multithreaded performance.
Let's do some quick math. For a 3700X, 1 core is 100% and there is eight of them. 8 * 100% = 800% of total work. One core of a 5600X is 119% of a Zen 2 core, so 119% * 6 = 714% total.
At this point a 5600X is 86% behind a 3700X in multithreaded workloads. However, that doesn't even account for the clock speed increase. Worst case scenario you lose between 86-50% out of the total 800% which is around half a core of a 3700X. For gaming, I'd give that half core for single core performance and higher FPS in games. The 5600X is basically a 3700X with better gaming performance and slightly lower multithreaded performance at $300 which is $5 more than the 3700X on amazon.com

they're pretty evenly matched, the i5-10700 has a bit of an edge if you look at benchmarks and has 2 more cores than the 6-core R5 3600 but also tends to cost a little more, and it comes with an uglier stock cooler.
actually, a more even match for the 10700 is the R5 3700X, which also has 8 cores. Amazon has it listed for less than the 10700 ($330 vs $350) and it comes with a much better stock cooler, the Wraith Prism: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3700X-16-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLPK/ref=pd_sbs_147_1/144-6208399-6998961?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07SXMZLPK&pd_rd_r=5560a0b2-8d38-4cf7-be70-a9950b5ba6ea&pd_rd_w=y9z79&pd_rd_wg=BSpC5&pf_rd_p=ed1e2146-ecfe-435e-b3b5-d79fa072fd58&pf_rd_r=JHJ927K01R0MS6M2K1S2&psc=1&refRID=JHJ927K01R0MS6M2K1S2

Not sure if you want to spend about $60 more but the Ryzen 7 3700x is available for $279.99 instead of $304.

The cooler usually sells for ~30. Your not saving much, if any at this price point.

I think you can get a 3700X for less than that:
2 points • IronTarkus91
The 3700x can be found here for $280 and the RTX 2070 I'm not sure how much it goes for in the Us but in the UK you can get them for around £400. You would still need to buy a motherboard, case, RAM and storage though so it might be a bit too much on your budget.
Leave it with me and I'll have a look around to see if I can find something more in your price range.
