what I'm selling is this, which is $157 on amazon. that, and the fact that the ryzen 5 3600 is selling for $167 on amazon, is what i'm basing my price on.

I see you are shopping on tiger direct. Amazon has this item for a much lower price.

R5 2600 is down to 120$ right now, on Amazon.

Otherwise you gotta go with a quad core, bah!

Unless you're stuck to a b350 mobo that only supports 1000 series Ryzen(not even sure those exist), or need the extra cores from the 1700, I'd think that a 2600 for the same price would be better(especially for gaming).
I don't think it's particularly a deal myself.

I know you said you wanted 3000 series but this does offer great value for its price

Here $170, so its a decent price. Thanks!

So would it be worth it to spend an extra ~$20 and get an R5 2600
1 points • Einheitt
Thanks for the help.
Woops! I was referring to the 2600, this one on amazon in particular

I recommend switching to Ryzen 2600 (120$) because if your budget is only 1000 including a monitor, you’re going to want to go Ryzen for your build. Ryzen CPU’s come with a pretty decent stock cooler while I tel CPU’s, have with a pretty crappy cooler. Which means you’ll have to grab a cooler which could add around 40$ more and possibly thermal paste as well.
a good budget board to go with it is the gigabyte b450m ds3h

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to bother. But, what’s the difference between this CPU:

That mobo should come with a working bios out of the box, but if it doesn't you can fix it easy with just a USB stick you'll need anyways to out windows on there.
If you went with this 2600 you definitely wouldn't have to worry about it. https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Processor-Wraith-Stealth-Cooler/dp/B07B41WS48/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=ryzen+2600&qid=1585971689&sr=8-2

It should be listed in the offer. I just had a look on Amazon and saw that an R5 2600 is super cheap right now. That would be even better. Have a look:

Replace the 2200G with a 2600 for $35 more. You don't need a 4-core/4-thread APU when you already have a dedicated GPU, and the 2600 is 6c/12t. ~~Drop the NVMe drive in exchange if your budget is already maxed out.~~ edit: looks like you already have the drive?
The 1600 AF is no longer a great deal ever since they raised the price from $85, otherwise I'd be recommending that over a 2600.
Also, get faster RAM. Ryzen depends on fast RAM. You can find 3200MHz 2x8GB kits for ~$80.
Edit: $70

If this CPU says it comes with a "Wraith Stealth Cooler", should I bother buying a separate CPU cooler?
1 points • not12listen
I found the 2600 for $165
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B41WS48
I also found the 2600x for $170.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B41WS48
I have no idea what the price you saw was. The 2600 and the 2600x are effectively the same CPU - the difference being that the 2600x has a bit more potential unlocked, whereas the 2600 would need for YOU to adjust settings to have the same potential as the 2600x.
But, for the prices above, I would opt for the 2600x. If you have any other questions, please ask.

Thanks for your suggestions! If going for the 3300x, would it be viable to use a Ryzen 5 2600or even a Ryzen 3 3200G? I don't know how much different the Ryzen processors are.
2 points • Ellistann
If you're good with 90 FPS or less, your 1600AF is going to still be relatively good; got in an argument with a guy about bottlenecking and he was using a 2080ti and a 2600, which the 1600AF isn't far off of. He won the argument obviously since he knew the firsthand experience of everything.
And to be blunt, getting that fixed might serve you better than an graphics card upgrade. Ryzen 2600 on amazon is $134. The 3600 is $175.
Hardware swap has folks getting the 2600 for between $85 and $100.
Getting the CPU dropped in and fixed up will give you the confidence to grab that random sale of a 5600 for cheap if it comes.

Well you got some options
I prefer the AMD 5 2600 It's a very good CPU overall Maybe if you go intel you can get more fps (2-5fps) But I prefer and And it's good for light workstation too and their stock coolers are pretty good too Link: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Processor-Wraith-Stealth-Cooler/dp/B07B41WS48/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=amd+ryzen+2600&qid=1601746103&sr=8-1 I know this is on the pricey side but I think its worth it If you want cheaper one maybe look for a ryzen 3 3100 Link: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-8-Thread-Unlocked-Desktop-Processor/dp/B0876Y2TMZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=amd+ryzen+2600&qid=1601746103&sr=8-7

>My main drawback is budget.
Ryzen 5 2600 at a discount right now ($49.94 off) would be best option unless you're going to decide to overclock then you could pay around 20 bucks more to get a 2600X model with overclocking feature and a better cooling.
1 points • TheRogueRanger
Similarly the Ryzen 5 2600 is $134.99 on amazon right now.

Is that a reasonable deal for that or would it be better to wait to see if the 1600 AF, 2600, and 3600 decrease in price at all?

You can order most parts listed as Best Buy through Amazon; it'll probably be a similar price. For the GPU, if its in stock, the 2070 Super would be on par with, if not better than the 2080. For CPU, the Ryzen 5 2600 should be in stock and will be a good choice.

I would not buy an i5 now when Ryzen exists. Intel is really only for very high-end gaming (i9-9900k). At every other price point, Ryzen is the way to go. I'd look at Ryzen 5 2600 for a low budget, or preferrably Ryzen 5 3600. The 3600 will be ~15-20% better.
