I've used the 3M kits before with an electric drill. They work well. Make sure you sand wet (otherwise the sandpaper clogs up) and don't electrocute yourself.

This will do a pretty good job. It won't take out any deep scratches, but use a little elbow grease and buff it well and you will be happy with the results. You can choose from a bunch of different brands but this one has a buffing and sanding sponge.

I used this 3m kit to completely remove the factory UV coating and any sun deterioration, and then put down...I'll call it 1.5 layers of opti-seal.

I was worried I didn't get complete coverage on the first go around so I added just a bit more. The syringe it comes with has a SUPER tiny tip. I will easily be able to coat a dozen lenses with what is maybe 2oz of product.

I’d wetsand it to really remove all the damaged plastic. Tape off the paint surfaces adjacent to the headlight. I’ve had really good results with this kit: 3M Headlamp Restoration Kit

Be sure to seal it with a clear coat or Lamin-x to prevent more UV damage in the future

I would not use LED or aftermarket HID kits, with the reflector housings you end up scattering the light instead of properly focusing it and will blind other drivers. These will both leave you with constant error codes unless you install an error eliminator.

Sylvania Silverstar or ZXE will be a great improvement over stock or standard replacement bulbs.

You can also try polishing the headlights if they are cloudy or yellowed at all, I recommend this 3M kit.

I used the 3M headlight restoration kit for mine and it's held up so far for 2 years. Still look brand new.

You have to sand it to remove the surface cracks, buff to make it transparent again, then seal it to protect the plastic from the sun's UV.

The kits have all that you need.

Here's the exact one i'm sitting on, there's a deluxe version as well IIRC.

I'd HIGHLY recommend the kit vs any sort of diy.

Polish them headlights my dude

It's not permanent (usually only lasts about a year and a half before it'll start yellowing again depending on your climate) but still makes a BIG difference on the car's front appearance

Polish up what you've got using something like this kit from 3M so they look new again and then throw in some LED headlight bulbs.

I believe this Hikari 9007 compatible bulb is the correct one for your year truck, and I just put those exact bulbs in my 2011. They are an amazing improvement over the old halogens, while still keeping the same light pattern as the factory intended so you won't blind oncoming drivers. There are other cheaper alternative bulbs if you look around too, but be mindful of the reviews, some are better than others.

I used the 3M headlight restorer kit and Car Guys trim restorer, worked pretty well for me. The only thing is you're gonna need some spray clear coat to put on the headlights after you restore them. Those little grill clips are a pain in the ass too. https://www.amazon.com/3M-39008-Headlight-Restoration-System/dp/B001AIZ5HY/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&qid=1591337720&sr=8-5&srs=2528843011

Great deal dude.

If you wanna polish up those headlights you can use this sanding kit, and uv sealant to clear them up. Worked great on my gsr. EDIT Saw you were talking about getting new headlight units, I'd stick with the stock ones and just polish them I loved how mine turned out. Check my post history.

The most common thing to go bad on these is the distributor and rotor from my experience. Also alignment can be expensive if you have to put in new upper control arms, or even worse all new bushings all over like I had to do.

Get your headlight assemblies/housings CLEANED or replaced, then put your regular bulbs back in and get your $$$$ back instead of blinding other motorists.

Next time use a 3M drill kit I've used this 3 times on different vehicles and it's the absolute best in giving your headlights a clean buff.

Also use a 2k anti uv clear coat , this product is currently the best. Expensive sure but do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again.

Just did mine and they turned out perfect. I started with the 3M Headlight Restoration System.

https://www.amazon.com/3M-39008-Headlight-Restoration-System/dp/B001AIZ5HY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3

Then I sealed it with the 3M Clear Coat wipes.

Take your time and sand thoroughly at each step. After you finish with the restoration kit, you're headlights will look better, but the clear coat is what'll give them that final "like new" look. Also a note, make to sure follow the instructions in the clear coat packet. It'll have you sand your headlights with 3000 grit before applying the clear coat. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! Even though you just sanded the headlights with 3000 grit and polished with the restoration kit, sanding with the 3000 grit included in the clear coat packet is required to give the clear coat a rough surface to stick to. Also, DO NOT UNFOLD THE WIPE! When you slide across the headlight, you'll see the plastic's original clarity restored and it'll keep that appearance even after it's dried. Apply the second coat after about 15 minutes and your headlights should look brand new.

3M’s headlight kit does wonders. Grab some super high grit sandpaper to get into those corners by hand.
Tape around the light with at least two layers and replace it if it starts to fall/curl from the water. You can also loosen the corner panel if you can’t reach all of the light.
Proof that this kit is top notch
